Income tax refund: When taxpayers file income tax returns, after that they eagerly wait for refund. The question remains in his mind that by when the refund amount will be received. Actually, the date on which e-verification is done by taxpayers starts after the refund process starts. It is generally seen that after e-verification, the refund may take from about two weeks to two months to come.

Why is there a delay in refund?
If any kind of mistakes in the refund are made from the taxpayers, then they may have to file revised returns. According to the guidelines of the Income Tax Department, the refund process starts as soon as the ITR is filed. In the event of e-verification, refund is found quickly. However, in some cases the refund gets stuck. Most of the cases are those where e-verification has not been done within 30 days of filing ITR or bank details have been incorrectly inserted.

Therefore, it is important that ITR should be filled correctly and e-verification should be done within 30 days. Return can be invalid if not done. The Income Tax Department starts the process of refund only after e-verification.

ITR Filing and Tax Refund: The deadline of ITR filing for FY 2024-25 has been increased this time by the Income Tax Department. Generally, the last date to file ITR is 31 July. But this time, due to some special reason, taxpayers have been given time to file ITI by 15 September 2025. On the one hand, while it is a relief for many people, on the other hand it also means that people will expect more refunds this time, which is given as interest from the Income Tax Department.

If you pay more tax as TDS, Advance Tax or Self Assessment, then you are given a refund after filing ITR. According to Section 244A of the Income Tax Department, interest is given by the Income Tax Department at a rate of 0.5 percent per month on high tax deduction.

This time more refund will come

Interest starts from April 1 of the assessment year and it continues until the refund is released. In such a situation, when the date of filing ITR has been extended by one and a half months, in such a situation if your refund is processed in October, then you will get two months extra interest.

The thing to note here is that when you get interest on tax refund, it is taxable under income from other sources and will have to be told in ITR. However, despite more refund, experts are also warning about such interest.

Refund will be given early from ITR filing quickly

This means that after filing ITI quickly, it will be processed quickly. You will get a refund soon and you can use that money as a better option elsewhere. Therefore, instead of delaying the ITR file, it is better, so it will be better, so that you will get money on time.

Form 16: In India, salaried employees may find it difficult to file income tax returns (ITR) many times, but Form 16 makes this process very easy. In this form issued by your employer, how much your salary is and how much tax has been deducted on it, there is complete information about it. This not only makes it easier to file returns, but also helps in claiming refund and compliance with tax related rules.

What is Form 16?

There is a certificate issued by Form 16 Employer, which shows how much you have earned from salary in a financial year and how much tax (TDS) has been deducted from it. This is usually given once a year, after March.

Why is Form 16 necessary?

Form 16 contains complete information about your total income and tax paid to the government. It proves to be helpful in filing income tax returns (ITR) as it works as an official proof in a way.

With the help of Form 16, it becomes easy to file income tax returns. Form 16 occurs in two parts. The first part A contains details related to tax deduction and deposits on a quarter with complete information of employees and employees. Part B contains complete information about the salary of the employee. Apart from this, there is also information about cuts under section 80C and 80CD. Since all the information is available in one place, you do not need to investigate many documents while filing tax returns. This also saves time and the possibility of mistakes also ends.

This also helps you in getting tax refund. If more tax is deducted than your salary, then you can claim refund while filing ITR. Form 16 is easy to understand whether you are eligible for refund or not.

It is needed while applying for a loan or visa. Banks and foreign embassies often ask for Form 16 as proof of income and tax payment. This makes your financial credibility strong.

This also helps in cross verification. The Income Tax Department crosses the data in your ITR in Form 16 with the information given by the employer in Form 16. If both data matches, then the possibility of later notice or any other problem is less.

Form 16 is not just a piece of paper, rather it is an essential platform for stress free tax filing. Always collect it from your employer on time and keep a digital copy of it safe.
