ITR Filing: The deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR) is ending today. Today, due to the last date, more than 1 crore tax returns are expected to be filed. Till now, 6.29 crore returns have been filed for Assessment Year 2025-26. There has been a jump of 7.5 percent in ITR filing compared to last year.

Looking at the rapid returns being filed today, it seems that this time it will cross the figure of 7.8 crores. Earlier, 6.77 crore returns were filed in Assessment Year 2023-24, 5.82 crore in 2022-23 and 5.77 crore returns in 2021-22.

Advance tax also has deadline today

Experts say that due to the second installment of advance tax, the challenges of September 15 have increased further, which will put a double burden on taxpayers and professionals. Let us tell you that the deadline for filling the second installment of advance tax is also September 15, while its first installment has to be filled by June 15. In the second installment of advance tax, a share of up to 45 percent of the total tax has to be paid.

Explain that people whose tax liability is Rs 10,000 or more annually. That is, those who have to pay Rs 10,000 or more in a year. The Income Tax Department gives them the option to pay tax in installments. People who do not cut TDS from income have to pay advance tax. This includes people earning through stock market or mutual funds, freelancer, NRI.

Help desk also arranged

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department denied the report on Sunday, claiming that the deadline for filing tax returns is being extended till September 30. While filing ITR, 24×7 help desk has also been arranged to help taxpayers. Under this, support is being provided through call, live chat, X and Webex sessions.

Income tax filing deadline: Tomorrow is the last chance to file income tax return (ITR)...

Income tax filing deadline: Tomorrow is the last chance to file income tax return (ITR) on September 15, 2025. So far, more than 6 crore returns have been filed. In order to avoid any hurry at the last minute, the Income Tax Department has also arranged 24×7 support service for taxpayers. There is also speculation that the deadline to file returns can be increased further. However, nothing has been officially stated about this yet.

Meanwhile, some problems are coming out on the income tax portal. Many chartered accountants and taxpayers are not able to download their annual information statement (AIS). However, the problem is not in the entire system nor all taxpayers are facing it. It is possible that taxpayers trying to log in at the same time are facing such problems. Due to high traffic, the server is overloaded several times.

AIS & Tis Not Connected pic.twitter.com/fvn9au6vmp

– Nalin (@nalinjsp) September 13, 2025

Since, now there is only today and tomorrow’s time left in filing returns, so people are depositing their ITR. In such a situation, even though the portal works properly, it is unable to handle the requests of many taxpayers simultaneously. You understand it like a 4-6-lane highway, where some vehicles are slowly moving forward due to traffic jams, while some are going out in speed.

The Income Tax Department had said on social media on September 13, 2025, AIS can no longer be downloaded through any third-party software tool, so now the only way to download AIS is to log on to the e-filing ITR portal and then go on the AIS Compliance Portal (https://ais.insight.gov.in/compliaseportal/aisportn/ However, some users say that the portal is opening comfortably and AIS can be downloaded in a few seconds. At the same time, for some users, AIS is taking up to 10 minutes to download.

What to do now users?

You can use browser such as Microsoft Edge (version 88 or above), Google Chrome (88+), Mozilla Firefox (86+) or Opera (66+). Apart from this, Windows 7 or subsequent version or the latest version of Linux or Mac OS can also be used. Keep your browser cookies and site data clear and if possible, use high -speed Ethernet wired connection.

Income tax return 2025: The deadline for filing ITR is September 15 for those who...

Income tax return 2025: The deadline for filing ITR is September 15 for those who do not have to audit their accounts. That is, only three weeks are left to file returns, so SMS reminder has been started by the tax department. It is written in this SMS- so far more than 3 crore ITRs have been filed. Please file your ITR for Ay.2025-26 on the e-filing portal before 15.09.25.

Will 3 lakhs of salary have to fill the return?

Now the next question comes that by September 15, who has to submit ITR returns. Will they also have to file returns, whose annual income is up to Rs 3 lakh? According to the Economic Times report, Sanjoli Maheshwari, executive director of Nangia & Company LLP, replied this, saying, “The income limit of income tax return (ITR) for business year 2024-25 is based on Total Income on Total Income on Total Income on Total Income on Tax Research- Old or New.”

She further says, “If the total income is more than the original exemption limit, then the taxpayer should compulsorily file ITR. The original exemption limit in New Tax Reseem is Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh for the old tax system. ‘

Will students have to fill ITR?

Usually people think that ITR only has to be filled by jobbers or businessmen, whereas it is not. In today’s time, students and unemployed youth are also being encouraged to file their ITR, even if their income is less than the original exemption limit. However, this is not mandatory. This is so that they remain a habit because there are many benefits of filing ITRs such as it makes financial credibility, it is easy to claim refund, it becomes easier to do transactions in large amounts, etc.

ITR Filing Last Date: The central government has given relief to taxpayers by extending the date of this year’s Income Tax Return (ITR) filing. The last date for filing income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 i.e. Assessment Year 2025-26 has been extended from July 31 to September 15 so that taxpayers get longer to get more time to fill the returns without any hassle or hassle and in the last time, there is no need to participate in the last time.

This deadline has been increased due to the delay in issuing Excel-YouTality forms for ITR-1, 2, 3 and 4 forms as many changes were made in these forms this year. Due to this, the backnd system had to be upgraded, utility was re -prepared and data also had to be investigated.

Deadline may increase to file ITR

Overall, you now have only 50 days left to file ITR. In such a situation, to avoid penalty, complete the premature filing and verification processes. However, Excel utilities have not been released for ITR-5, 6 and 7 forms and apart from this, online utility of ITR-3 form is also not live. In such a situation, taxpayers are facing difficulties in filing ITRs. According to the report of Financial Express, experts believe that the Income Tax Department may increase the deadline for some time.

Will the deadline grow again?

According to FT Report, CA (Dr.) Suresh Surana says that no official information has been given for the assessment year 2025-26 to increase the time limit for filing ITR in Form 5, 6 and 7. Due to the delay in issuing online and offline filing for these forms, taxpayers will get less time to file returns.

Apart from this, Excel Utility of ITR-3 form is still available only in Excel format, JSON-based online filing option is still not present. In such a situation, the deadline may be increased for some time. However, nothing can be said about this right now. Earlier, CBDT had extended the deadline due to administrative or technical delays.

Income tax return 2025: If you are a content creator or influencers and a social media platform is a source of earnings for you, then there is a big update in this tax season. Actually, the Income Tax Department has made a big change in ITR-3 and ITR-4 form.

Under this, a new code 16021 has been introduced for those who earn from social media. This code created by Income Tax Return (ITR) utilities for FY 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) is especially for those influencers who earn through promotion, product endorsment or digital content creation.

Influencers will be able to fill returns

According to the Business Today report, Chartered Accountant Himank Singla said, these codes are now active under the ‘Profession’ category in both ITR-3 and ITR-4 (Sugam). These cords have been added to both online and offline methods to fill the form. That is, now influencers will have to fill one of the ITR-3 and ITR-4 (Sugam) on the basis of their income and tax selection. Whereas till this, there was no separate category about the earnings of influencers. The move aims to make compliance with tax easier for creators, online coaches, bloggers and gig workers.

Digital economy is growing rapidly in the country. According to a report, by the end of 2025, its market can reach $ 2.8 billion (about Rs 23,500 crore). Now through this new code, the Income Tax Department will help in keeping an eye on the earnings of influencers and tax evasion will also be reduced.

Which form select influencers?

To file social media influencers ATR, choose one of ITR-3 or ITR-4 (Sugam) based on your income. The ITR-3 form is for those who have a business or profession of earning. Also, their income is from salary, property or any other source.

The ITR-4 form is for those who choose the option of the Premantic Tax Scheme i.e. who want to pay a part of their earnings as tax. There is no need to keep a bookkeeping in details. If you choose a premistable tax and your earnings are up to Rs 50 lakh, then you should fill the ITR-4 form. If income is more than this and many sources, then use ITR-3 form.

ITR Filing: Salary employees often have to file income tax returns (ITR) for the application...

ITR Filing: Salary employees often have to file income tax returns (ITR) for the application of TDS refund. Even if his income is less than taxable limit. The government’s plan is now to make this process easier. The next Income Tax Bill 2025 includes provision for this.

Now it will be easy to claim refund

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the committee believes that those with less income from the taxable limit find it unnecessary and cumbersome to claim TDS refund. The committee suggests that taxpayers should get the facility to claim refund by filling a simple form on the basis of their Form 26AS.

Under the new feature, instead of filing the entire ITR, a form will be introduced, which is easy to fill. This form will take TDS data automatically from Form 26AS. This new form is being designed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Its purpose is to speed up the process and eliminate the need to file full returns.

Big relief for low income

Under the new tax system, income up to 12.75 lakhs annually is free. However, many times companies cut TDS for not submitting documents. In such a situation, a person has to file a complete ITR to claim mere refund. This burden is expected to be reduced soon.

Data access facility

The committee has also suggested on data access. It will be clarified in the new bill that the Income Tax Officer should have access to taxpayers’ digital devices, records and income-expenditure data to ensure transparency in tax administration. This rule is likely to be implemented from April 1, 2026 after the Income Tax Bill has been passed in the budget session of 2025-26 of Parliament.
