There is an atmosphere of concern among the people due to increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the entire country including Rajasthan. Today (Friday, May 15) the price of petrol has increased by Rs 3.25 to Rs 107.97 per liter and diesel has increased by Rs 3.02 to Rs 93.23 per liter. Now a big statement has come from former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on this. Sachin Pilot fiercely attacked the BJP central government and claimed, “It was already decided.”

On the increase in the price of petrol and diesel, Congress General Secretary and former Deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot said, “It was already decided. Take votes, then increase the price.” He further said that as soon as the elections in 5 states were over, the prices of petrol and diesel were immediately increased by Rs 3 per liter. Sachin Pilot accused the government of not increasing the prices to woo the public, but after the elections were over, it put the burden on the public’s pockets.

Rates vary from state to state depending on VAT

For information, let us tell you that the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by three rupees per liter on Friday. This is the first increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the last four years. This increase has been made amid increasing losses of oil marketing companies due to rising global prices of crude oil. Along with this, CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg in cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

Industry sources said that the price of petrol in the national capital has increased from Rs 94.77 to Rs 97.77 per litre. Diesel has now become Rs 90.67 per liter as against Rs 87.67. Rates vary due to differences in Value Added Tax (VAT) across states.

Petrol Diesel Price Hike: The effect of continuous increase in crude oil prices in the international market is now visible in India also. Today i.e. on 15th May, the Government of India has increased the prices of petrol and diesel. The government has increased the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 3 and CNG by Rs 2. Due to which there is a lot of pressure on the pockets of the common man.

Although this is not the first time that the prices of petrol and diesel have increased to such an extent, in the last 12 years i.e. from 2014 till now, there has been a rise in the prices of petrol and diesel several times. Let us show its graph.

Let us tell you that after 2022 i.e. after five years, today on May 15, 2026, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased. In the year 2014, petrol was around Rs 70-75 per liter in many cities of the country. Which had crossed Rs 100 by 2021-22. Now the increase in prices again in 2026 has increased the concern of the common people.

It is noteworthy that after the year 2020, petrol became expensive rapidly due to the Corona period and then the global supply crisis. In 2021, petrol crossed Rs 100 per liter for the first time in many cities. This was the period when the prices of petrol and diesel increased rapidly. After which, in May 2026, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by Rs 3 per liter in many cities.
