Who is Gurnoor Brar?

So let us tell you that 25 year old Gurnoor Brar was born in May 2000 in Muktsar, Punjab. Shubman Gill helped Gurnoor reach professional cricket. After Gill, Shikhar Dhawan’s attention fell on him. In this way, the fast bowler playing domestic cricket for Punjab gradually got help in reaching Punjab Kings. Now he has reached Team India.

I liked playing football, not cricket.

Talking to Times of India, Gurnoor Brar said that initially he liked playing football and not cricket. He used to play football and tennis. He used to play cricket just for fun.

Friend advised to take up cricket

Brar told that one of his friends advised him to give a trial in cricket because he has good height and due to which he can become a good bowler. The height of Gurnoor is 6.5 feet.

This friend’s advice proved to be very beneficial for Gurnoor. After two years he met Shubhman Gill. This is the time when Gill was a part of India’s Under-19 team. Gill liked Brar’s bowling. After this Gill helped him get a place in the Mohali district team. From here he was selected in Punjab’s Under-23 team.

Punjab Kings kept an eye on

Made List-A debut for Punjab in 2021. Made his first class debut for Punjab the next year. During this time, Punjab Kings franchise noticed him. Gurnoor joined Punjab Kings as a net bowler. At that time, Brar impressed the franchise captain Shikhar Dhawan with his speed. Dhawan said that you should be in the team. After this he joined Punjab as a replacement for Angad Bawa.

Made his IPL debut playing for Punjab in 2023. However, the first match was nothing special for Brar. He spent 42 runs in just 3 overs. After this, till now he has not got a chance to play IPL match again.

Following Gill’s advice on not getting an IPL contract, Brar joined Gujarat Titans as a net bowler in 2024. Then in 2025, Gujarat bought him for Rs 30 lakh and in 2026 also the franchise has retained Brar.

Gurnoor Brar’s career

Talking about Gurnoor Brar’s career, till now he has played 18 First Class, 9 List-A and 9 T20 matches. Brar has taken 52 wickets while bowling in 28 first class innings. Apart from this, he has taken 12 wickets in 9 innings of List-A and 10 wickets in 9 innings of T20.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (May 19) announced Team India for the one-off Test and 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan. 15-15 member squad released for Test and ODI. In both formats, the command was handed over to regular captain Shubman Gill. But there are 11 players in Team India, who are playing for Gujarat Titans in the current IPL 2026. Gill is also the captain of Gujarat.

Test and ODI series schedule

First, the only Test between India and Afghanistan will be played at the Maharaja Yudhveer Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh. The competition will start from June 06.

The ODI series will start from June 14. The last match will be held on June 20. The first match will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The second ODI will be held on June 17 at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The third and last 50 over match of the series will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
