Roshan Kujur, who plays the midfielder position in the Indian hockey team, told Times of India, “It was not that we were refused to shake hands. As players, we came to play with hard work and commitment and we did not see them as our enemy. That’s why we shook hands. They are also players like us.”

This Indian player further said that he always wants to win against Pakistan. He said, “We want to beat them every time, but the match was a draw. Still, it was a good match.”

The match between India and Pakistan in the league stage was a 3-3 draw. Pakistan team finished fourth, while the final match between India and Australia was played on 18 October. Till the 58th minute, the match was tied at one each, but when 2 minutes were left in the match, the Kangaroo team scored a goal and took a 2-1 lead. He won the final by maintaining this lead.

The match between India and Pakistan in Sultan Johar Cup 2025 ended in a 3-3 draw. It was just a matter of time when Arajit Singh Hundal converted the penalty stroke into a goal and brought India back into the match and the score became 2-1 in favor of Pakistan. Just 5 minutes later, Manmeet Singh scored another goal to give India a 3-2 lead. But when 5 minutes were left for the match to end, Sufiyan Khan scored a goal and made Pakistan equal 3-3.

Where did the handshake controversy start?

The handshake controversy started when the match between India and Pakistan was played in the Cricket Asia Cup on 14 September. Before that match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Aga at the time of toss. After winning the match, the Indian players did not come to shake hands with the Pakistani team and even closed the door of the dressing room. After that, the Indian team also adopted the policy of ‘no handshake’ in the Super-4 and Asia Cup final matches.
