Now Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stoked the spark of no-handshake controversy.

Mohsin Naqvi told the media in Lahore that if Team India does not want to shake hands, then Pakistani players will also not show any interest in doing so.

Mohsin Naqvi said, “Even today our thinking is the same. Today the Prime Minister himself told me twice that we should not let politics come in the way of all this. Our views from the first day have been that cricket and politics should be separate.”

Mohsin Naqvi further said, “If they (Indian players) do not want to shake hands, then we too have no interest in doing so. Whatever happens, it will be on the same level with India. You will see that we will do the same in future also. It cannot be that they do something and we step back. This will not happen at all.”

The policy of no-handshake in matches between India and Pakistan has been going on for many months. Since Asia Cup 2025, Indian players have avoided shaking hands with Pakistani players. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not tie the knot with Pakistan captain Salman Aga in the Asia Cup. After that, even in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, the Indian team did not join hands with Pakistani players.

This controversy may go on long, because even after winning the Super 4 match, the Indian team has not joined hands with Pak players. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had told about not having ‘handshake’ after the group stage match that it was not the decision of anyone but the team’s decision. The Indian team has responded to that ‘gun celebration’ somewhere by not joining hands with Pak players.

These two teams were the first match in the Super 4 phase. The Pakistan team scored 171 runs while batting first. If Pakistan had boycotted from the Asia Cup, then 16 million US dollars i.e. Rs 141 crore would have gone out of PCB’s hand. In such a situation, Pakistan played the match against UAE despite being the match referee of Andy Picroft and withdrew Boycott.

This is only a source of conversation, which is followed all over the world, but this is not a rule ‘. The BCCI official further said that ‘if this is not a rule, then the Indian cricket team cannot be forced to join hands with the opposition team, even when you do not have better relations with that country’.

The BCCI official said that there is no rule that tells the players to forcefully join hands after the match. Along with this, it was said by the BCCI that due to political tension between India and Pakistan, there is no point that the players of the Indian team should go and join hands with Pakistani players.
