The second test between India and West Indies is being played in Delhi. What is follow on?

If in a test match the team batting first gets a lead of 200 or more runs over the team batting second in the second innings. In such a situation, the team which batted first can immediately ask the other team to bat again.

If we take an example, India declared its first innings at 518 runs in the Delhi Test. In such a situation, if West Indies wants to save follow-on, they will have to score at least 319 runs in the first innings. Since West Indies has scored 140 runs in the first innings. Therefore, on the third day he still has to score 179 more runs to save the follow-on.

So will Team India win?

Now the question is that if West Indies is not able to score the remaining 179 runs on the third day, will Team India win the second test? No, if West Indies is not able to reach the total score of 319 in the first innings, then the Indian team can ask West Indies to bat again keeping in mind the intention of winning the innings. Giving follow-on to a team is optional. Therefore, in case of not being able to save the follow-on, West Indies will have to bat again only when Team India asks them to do so or not.

By the end of the first day’s play in the first Test, India has scored 121 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. Team India is still behind 41 runs in the first innings. In the match being played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the West Indies team could score only 162 runs while batting first. The highest score for the West Indies team was made by Justin Greaves, who scored 32 runs. Mohammad Siraj jerked the highest number of 4 wickets from India.

In this match, the decision to bat first by winning the toss of the West Indies was very heavy. Mohammad Siraj and Jaspreet Bumrah’s initial spells left the sweat of the Caribbean batsmen. First Tagarin Chandrapaul, then John Campbell and on seeing the West Indies lost 4 wickets on a score of just 42.

Shaya Hope and Captain Roston Chase partnership for 48 runs and pushed the team forward towards the score. Shaya Hope scored 26 and Roston Chase scored 24 runs. Meanwhile, Justin Greaves’s 32 -run innings reached the West Indies with a score of 160.

Siraj and Bumrah caused havoc

Mohammad Siraj and Jaspreet Bumrah took 7 wickets in the first innings. Within the first 12 overs, he dropped 4 wickets of the West Indies. Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav took 2 and Washington Sundar took one wicket.

After him, KL Rahul became a rock for Team India. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul shared a salute of 68 runs, but Jaiswal was dismissed for 36 runs. Sai Sudarshan again got a chance on number-3, but this time also success was not achieved. Sudarshan was able to score only 7 runs. By the end of the first day’s play, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul have partnered 31 runs. Rahul is playing 53 runs, while Gill has scored 18 runs.
