After the Covid pandemic, work from home culture changed the definition of the world of work. The system which was once considered a compulsion, has now become a permanent policy of many companies. Working from home saved time and travel costs, improved work life balance and increased reliance on digital tools. However, with this came challenges like blurring of boundaries between work and personal life, distance in teamwork and mental pressure. Overall, after Covid, work from home completely changed the perspective of working. However, now most of the companies have ended the work from home culture.

In ABP Network’s event Entrepreneurship Conclave, Smartworks Co-Founder Harsh Binani talked about work from home culture and explained why it cannot become the future and why companies are not focusing on it for cost cutting.

How will the workplace evolve after 20 years?

Harsh Binani, Co-Founder of Smartworks, was asked that how will the workplace develop in the coming 20 years, like at present it is mostly running in physical mode, but can it develop in hybrid mode or in some other way in the future? Talking about this, Harsh Binani said that change will keep happening. Today’s Indian youth knows about the world, he knows that just as Google’s office is in San Francisco, he wants the same in Delhi or Pune. So nowadays times are changing. It is very difficult to predict what will happen in the coming 20 years.

Why is work from home not the future in India?

Harsh Binani further said that there will be no change in human connection in the coming times. India is not completely made for work from home. In India it is always important to have human connection. After Covid, there was a big phase where work from home was very prevalent. But now if you see in 2-3 years, regular working from office and hybrid mode has become a regular arrangement. Now work from home is not the future, but yes now it has definitely changed to hybrid mode. Apart from this, there will be experience in the workplace and in the coming times, there will be leasing of workplace instead of ownership.

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan said in the program of ABP Network, ‘Ever since coalition politics started, my experience is that you are given less. NDA alliance has given me a lot. A party with one MP was given 5 seats. Gave 29 seats to the party with zero MLAs (Chirag’s LJP). Out of 29 seats, 26 were lost seats. There were many seats where NDA had never won.

Chirag Paswan said why should I be greedy

On the matter of demanding more from the alliance, Chirag said, ‘I am getting a lot without asking. Then why should I be greedy? We also did not believe that there would be such a big victory. My estimate was up to 175 seats.

Regarding any meeting with Congress, Chirag said that I do not know whether any such meeting has taken place. Anyone who knows Chirag will not be able to do such a thing. PM means a lot to me. I am in this alliance because of my PM.

What did Chirag say on the question of becoming CM and Deputy CM?

Chirag said, ‘I have come into politics because of Bihar. I worry why Biharis have to go to other states. After becoming an MP for the third time, I have understood that to make Bihar first and Bihari first, I have to go to Bihar. For me, my party is like my mother. Has handled the party in adverse circumstances.

On the demand of becoming the Deputy CM, Chirag said that even before the elections, I had no condition that I should be made the Deputy CM and there was no condition even after. I am not greedy for it.

Chirag has already given the statement ‘I am not greedy’

In the results of Bihar elections in November 2025, Chirag’s party Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) contested on 29 seats and won 19 seats. His party got two ministries in the government, but did not get the post of Deputy CM. While talking to the media on this, Chirag had said, ‘How much more greedy can I be? Now even after this, if I ask for something more from the alliance, no one will be more greedy than me.

It is said that thousands of years ago India was the largest center of knowledge in the entire world. Students from all over the world used to come to study in universities like Nalanda-Takshashila and Vikramshila. Now the question arises whether India will ever be able to achieve that position again, then the answer lies in 2047. In fact, the way India’s education sector is progressing, the day is not far when India will once again be called Vishwa Guru. The situation will be such that people from all over the world will yearn to study in this center of knowledge. How will all this happen, let us know?

How was the pride of ancient India?

In ancient times, India was the global hub of education. Great scholars like Chanakya, Panini and Charak studied in Takshashila University (sixth century BC). Martial arts, medicine, mathematics, philosophy and Vedas were taught here. Thousands of students from Greece, China and Persia used to come to India for studies. Let us tell you that in the 5th century, Nalanda University was the largest educational center in the world. There were 10 thousand students and 2 thousand teachers here. Scholars like Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang and Itsing have also mentioned it. Apart from this, Vikramshila and Odantpuri were also very famous. According to UNESCO reports, these centers were the world’s first international universities. Nalanda has been revived to make history a part of the present and future. Under this, a new Nalanda University has been built in Rajgir (Bihar). PM Modi says that this university will return the old glory and start a new golden era.

Fast growing education sector

The market of higher education in India is expanding rapidly. More than 4 crore students are enrolled in higher education in 2025. According to AISHE report 2024-25, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) has reached close to 30 percent. At the same time, the target of NEP 2020 is to increase it to 50 percent by 2035. Apart from this, the number of foreign students in India is increasing. In 2025, more than 72 thousand foreign students are studying in India, who have come from 200 countries. These mainly include students from Nepal, Afghanistan, Africa and the Middle East.

India is making waves in the world rankings too

Indian universities are continuously making progress in the world rankings. India’s 54 universities are included in the QS World University Rankings 2026, which were only 11 in 2015. IIT Delhi is the top Indian university, whose global rank is 123. Whereas, IIT Bombay is at 129th position, IIT Madras is at 180th position. Apart from this, 128 institutions of India are included in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, which is second after America. IISc Bangalore, JNU and Manipal University are on top in NIRF Ranking 2025.

India will become a hub of global knowledge

According to NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subramaniam, 5 lakh foreign students will study in India by 2047. India will become a global provider of education sector. Education is a separate chapter in NITI Aayog’s ‘Developed India 2047’ vision document. By 2047, India will become a 30-40 trillion dollar economy, in which knowledge-based industries will be important. The EY-FICCI report ‘Higher Education in India: Vision 2047’ states that NEP will make India a major education hub of the world. GER will be 50%. Universities will become multidisciplinary.

These schemes will give wings to progress

National Education Policy (NEP 2020): This is the biggest change. There are plans to increase focus on multidisciplinary education, flexible degrees and research. Facility of 4 year degree, multiple entry-exit will also be provided. FYUP (Four Year Undergraduate Programme) has been implemented in many universities by 2025. Foreign universities like Deakin (Australia), Wollongong and Southampton are opening campuses in India. Zanzibar campus of IIT Madras and Abu Dhabi campus of IIT Delhi have started.

Study in India and Internationalization: Plans have also been made to attract foreign students. For this, a blueprint has been prepared for the arrival of 5 lakh foreign students by 2047. There are preparations for easy visas, scholarships and international offices in every university. Due to UGC rules, dual degree, joint degree and student exchange are increasing. IITs and IIMs are opening campuses abroad.

Digital Education and EdTech: Online education is being imparted through SWAYAM, DIKSHA and National Digital University (launched in 2025). Courses are being made advanced with AI and VR. Students from far and wide are getting involved in EdTech.

Research and Innovation: Continuous funding is being provided for research and innovation from the National Research Foundation (NRF). Top universities have been given autonomy from the Institution of Eminence (IoE). Research score is increasing in QS and THE rankings.

Why will people from all over the world come to India to study?

Education in America and Britain is very expensive, whereas education in India will be cheap and of good quality. The courses from NEP will be of global standard. Indian culture, yoga, Ayurveda and Indian knowledge system will attract foreign students. Affordable living, safe campuses will make things better. It is believed that the number of students coming from Asia-Africa will be more, but the inclination of students from western countries will also increase towards India.

India is continuously making progress in the health sector. It is being claimed that India can become the world’s largest health center in 2047. This is the reason why in the Union Budget 2024-25, a target was set to make many important changes in the health sector of the country by 2047. In such a situation, it is even being said that India will progress so much in this sector that people from rich countries like Britain and America will also come to India for their treatment. How will these things come true? What is India’s roadmap and what has been achieved so far? Let us know.

India is already a big center of medical tourism

The number of foreign patients seeking treatment in the country is increasing rapidly. In 2024, the medical tourism market was worth about 7.69 billion dollars i.e. about 64 thousand crore rupees. During this period, about 73 lakh foreign patients came to India for treatment. These patients mainly come for heart surgery, cancer treatment, orthopedic and cosmetic surgery. Actually, these treatments are very expensive in America and Britain, whereas in India they are 60 to 80 percent cheaper. For example, heart bypass surgery in America costs lakhs of rupees, but in India it costs only lakhs.

Foreign patients are continuously increasing

According to the report of Mordor Intelligence, India earned $9 billion from medical tourism in 2022, while more than 5 lakh medical tourists came in 2023. Among these, people from Africa, Middle East, Bangladesh and Nepal were the maximum, but now patients from UK and US are also increasing. Chennai is called the health capital of India, because 45 percent of foreign patients come here. Hospitals like Apollo, Fortis and Medanta are NABH accredited, which provide international level health facilities. The EY-FICCI report says that from 2012 to 2023, the number of medical tourists increased by 10.32 percent annually.

How will India become a global health tourism hub in 2047?

The government aims to make India a global health tourism hub by 2047. It has been said in the reports of Medical Buyer and Travel and Tour World that for this there will be huge investment in infrastructure, digital health and research. NITI Aayog member VK Paul says that health sector will become the basis of developed India in 2047. Life expectancy will increase from 71 years to 85 years. The number of doctors will be 50 lakh and that of nurses will be 1.25-1.5 crore. There will be medical colleges and 100% health insurance coverage in every district.

What are the targets for 2047?

Many targets have been set for 2047 in the EY-FICCI report ‘Decoding India’s Health Landscape’. These include 30 lakh extra hospital beds, development in digital health and achieving leadership in medical tourism. Future Market Insights report says that medical tourism will be worth $18.2 billion in 2025. At the same time, it is expected to reach $58.2 billion by 2035. This means that it will increase by 12.3% annually.

How will there be so much progress in the health sector?

Ayushman Bharat Scheme: This is the world’s largest health insurance scheme, through which 12 crore families of the country i.e. about 55 crore people get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Now all elderly people above 70 years of age have been covered. This made treatment of the poor easier and increased investment in hospitals.

Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM): A budget of Rs 64 thousand crore has been allocated for this. Under this, there is a plan to build hospitals, labs and ICUs from village to district level. This increased ICU beds and ventilators during the Covid pandemic.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM): 67 crore ABHA IDs have been created across the country. This is the digital health record of every person. With this, doctor’s advice is available in villages far away from telemedicine. Lakhs of consultations have been done through e-Sanjeevani.

Heal in India and AYUSH Visa: Medical visa has been made easier for foreigners. AYUSH (Ayurveda and Yoga) is being promoted. Wellness tourism will increase with Yoga and Ayurveda.

Infrastructure and Workforce: More than 2 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been built. Medical colleges are continuously increasing. The IBEF report says that the hospital market was worth $99 billion in 2023. It is expected that it will reach $194 billion by 2032.

Pharma and MedTech: India makes 60 percent of the world’s vaccines. Pharma exports have reached 27.9 billion dollars. At the same time, investment in R&D is continuously increasing.

Why will UK-US patients come to India?

The NHS in the UK has long waiting times. Treatment is very expensive in America. At the same time, British patients are getting 70% cheaper treatment in India. India is ahead in cancer, joint replacement and fertility treatment. In 2024, 73 lakh medical tourists from western countries came to India, which is continuously increasing.

India At 2047: India is today counted among the fastest growing economies of the world. Despite high global tariffs, fears of an economic recession and geopolitical pressures, India’s GDP growth has maintained momentum. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had recently said in a conclave that the Indian economy has a strong capacity to withstand global turmoil. He clarified that if India has to become a $30 trillion economy by 2047, then at all costs the GDP growth rate will have to be maintained at an average of 8 percent or above.

The Finance Minister said that India faces a dual challenge – on one hand, achieving the goal of ‘Developed India’ by 2047 and on the other hand, strengthening self-reliance. Similarly, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has also reiterated that India has the potential to become a 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047.

Growing global confidence in India’s economy

Recent reports from RBI, SBI and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have further strengthened India’s economic prospects. ADB has increased India’s GDP growth forecast for the financial year 2025-26 from 6.5 percent to 7.2 percent. At the same time, RBI estimates that the growth in the current financial year can be between 6.5 to 7.5 percent. RBI has increased the GDP growth estimate for 2025-26 from 6.8 percent to 7.3 percent. If this pace continues, India’s GDP may cross the $4 trillion mark by 2026.

Trust in international institutions is also continuously increasing. According to IMF, India’s GDP growth rate may be 6.6 percent in 2026, while the World Bank says that between 2025 and 2027, India will remain the fastest growing large economy in the world. Some reports have predicted GDP growth to be 7.5 percent or more in the second half of 2026.

Conditions for becoming a developed India by 2047

According to experts, if India has to become a $30 trillion economy by 2047, it will have to maintain a sustained annual GDP growth of 8 to 9 percent. With this, the per capita income will have to be increased to about $18,000 per year. According to NASSCOM report, if India maintains a sustained growth of 8–10 percent, this target can be achieved.

India’s youth population is a big strength. Working age population, initiatives like Digital India and rapid expansion of technology are strengthening the country’s growth pace.

These sectors will play the most important role

Many sectors will play a decisive role in achieving the goal of 2047, the major ones being-

electronics

automobile

Energy (especially renewable energy)

Semiconductor

defense sector

service area

Pharma

electric vehicle

Schemes like GST reforms, Make in India and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) have given additional impetus to the Indian economy.

What do experts say?

On this subject, IIMC Professor Shivaji Sarkar says that at present India’s GDP growth rate remains around 6 percent, although there are fluctuations in it. He told that earlier this rate had also reached close to five and a half percent. According to him, GDP growth depends on many factors, including weather, global conditions and domestic economic conditions, so it is not easy to keep it stable.

Professor Shivaji Sarkar also said that the fall in rupee affects the domestic economy, the impact of which is visible from technology to manufacturing sector. In such a situation, a balanced and stable growth rate is very important, so that the diverse country can achieve its long-term economic goals. He said that if India has to maintain a strong position at the global level, it will need a higher and more sustained growth rate.

He further said that by 2047, major changes will have taken place in the global economic scenario and currently a downward trend in growth rate is being seen across the world. In such an environment, if India is successful in maintaining a growth rate of 12 percent for a long time, then it is possible to become a 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047.

Manufacturing and technology will change the face of India

The demand for semiconductors in India is estimated to increase from $33 billion by 2022 to $117 billion by 2030. There has been tremendous growth in electronics manufacturing—today 99.2 percent of smartphones sold in India are made domestically, compared to only 26 percent a decade ago.

Amidst global tensions, the defense sector has also become very strategically important. In the last 10 years, the defense budget has doubled to Rs 6.81 lakh crore. In the financial year 2024-25, 92 percent of the contracts in the defense sector have been awarded to domestic industries, due to which the dependence on imports has reduced.

Green energy and EV sector will get new momentum

India recorded a record 29.5 GW addition to renewable energy capacity in 2024-25, taking the total capacity to 220 GW. India will require 50–70 GWh of battery capacity every year in the coming years, creating huge opportunities in areas such as cell manufacturing, raw materials and recycling. Sales of electric vehicles have also increased rapidly—wherein the number was around 50,000 in 2016, it will reach 20 lakh in 2024.

Focus on government investment and infrastructure

The seriousness of the government can be gauged from the fact that between 2024 and 2026, Rs 30–33 lakh crore has been invested in government infrastructure. Capital expenditure increased by 37 percent in FY 2024, while the capex budget for 2025 has been kept at Rs 11.1 lakh crore. It is expected to increase further in 2026.

Manufacturing will become a global power house

Experts believe that the role of manufacturing sector will be most important in becoming a developed India. By 2047, its contribution to GDP may increase from 17 percent to 25 percent. According to a report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and venture capital firm Z47, India’s manufacturing strategy is no longer limited to assembly only but is moving towards technology-based development.
