In a post on ‘Instagram’ on Wednesday, Harjeet’s lawyer advocate Deepak Ahluwalia said, ‘Bibi ji (Harjeet Kaur) is returning to Punjab. She has already reached India. Immigration officials in California took Kaur into custody after regular investigation, causing anger among her family and community members.

Harjeet was living in America for 30 years
A report by the news portal ‘Burkelside’ earlier stated that Kaur, who has been living in East-Bi, Northern California for more than 30 years, was detained by immigration and boundary enforcement (ICE) officials during a regular investigation. Hundreds of members of her family and community protested against the demand for immediate release of Kaur.

The relatives did not even give a chance to say goodbye
Ahluwalia said that the immigration officer took Kaur to a custody center in Bakersfield. In the post, Ahluwalia claimed that Kaur was taken from Bakersfield to Los Angeles, from where she was seated on the aircraft for Georgia and then to New Delhi. He also claimed that Kaur’s family members urged the officials to give their relatives a chance to say goodbye before being sent back, but were not allowed.

Ahluwalia said, ‘We were successful in getting tickets for Kaur for Monday’s flight, but at around two o’clock in the morning, they took him to Los Angeles with handcuffs from Bakersfield, and made him sit in Georgia flight without informing the lawyer or without informing the lawyer. ” He said that Kaur was kept in a custody of prisoners in Georgia.

Anger in Sikh community

The organization said, “Such behavior with any human being is disgusting, and a 73 -year -old woman is very embarrassing and inhuman to go through this situation.”

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Hussaini has expressed deep concern over the decision of the US to impose 25 percent additional tariffs on India’s imported products. He described this decision as an inappropriate and unilateral punitive action against India and said that it is harmful not only to India but also for America and global trade.

Policy like punishment for India is not good: Jamaat President

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind president said, “The policy like punishing India is not good, while many countries including the European Union are importing goods and energy from Russia. Every country has full right to decide its foreign and economic policy. Forcibly pressurizing is a dangerous imperialist attitude that weakens the cooperation of the whole world.”

Thousands of people will lose livelihood: Hussaini

He said that applying 50 percent tariffs will cause serious damage to areas like small industries, textiles, carpets and food products. This can take away the livelihood of thousands of workers. American consumers will also have to face expensive prices and low options. These incidents show that inner economic strategies can be made a weapon of external pressure.

He emphasized three important strategies for India. He said, “India should strengthen its economic relations with countries like Japan, South Korea, European Union and Australia. Also should increase connectivity to ASEAN, BRICS and regional groups to avoid such pressure in future.”

As a second strategy, he said, “India should lead to a balance among global economic forces, leading in economic groups like BRICS, so that no country can force independent countries.”

As a third strategy, India said, “India will have to take concrete steps towards strengthening manufacturing, agriculture and labor areas. Investment, infrastructure and human resource development within the country will have to increase so that the dependence on global forces is reduced.”
