Thousands of people will lose livelihood: Hussaini

He said that applying 50 percent tariffs will cause serious damage to areas like small industries, textiles, carpets and food products. This can take away the livelihood of thousands of workers. American consumers will also have to face expensive prices and low options. These incidents show that inner economic strategies can be made a weapon of external pressure.

He said, “Initially the protectionist policies adopted in the name of saving domestic industries later become a way to pressurize others. As countries are giving priority to national security, international trade system is shattering, which will cause long-term damage.”

As a second strategy, he said, “India should lead to a balance among global economic forces, leading in economic groups like BRICS, so that no country can force independent countries.”

As a third strategy, India said, “India will have to take concrete steps towards strengthening manufacturing, agriculture and labor areas. Investment, infrastructure and human resource development within the country will have to increase so that the dependence on global forces is reduced.”
