According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can meet President Donald Trump this time during his visit to America. This meeting can not only prove to be an important turn in Indo-US relations, but can also have a significant impact on trade, tariffs and geopolitical issues.

If this meeting takes place, it will be a second meeting between the two leaders in 7 months. In February last, Prime Minister Modi visited the White House. Before this deadline, both countries are engaged in a high level meeting so that somehow compromise can be reached. This issue is not limited to business just. It has also become a symbol of the Economic Security of America and the conflict between India’s global trade interests.

New controversy between America-India
It is a matter of great concern for America to continue the purchase of oil from Russia amidst Ukraine War. The White House believes that this revenue continues Moscow’s war efforts. President Trump has increased the pressure to reduce imports by criticizing India on this issue. Hopefully, economic pressure would be forced to end the Russia war. Describing the US as hypocritical on this, India has replied that American companies themselves are buying uranium, chemicals and fertilizers from Russia. This statement has further increased diplomatic tension.

Future strategy and importance of Putin-Trump meeting
India is closely watching the meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on 15 August. This meeting will be held for more than three years to discuss the possible routes to end the Ukraine War. For India, it is not only a geopolitical event, but also an opportunity to decide diplomatic strategy according to its energy and business interests.

Amid the ongoing controversy over the imposition of 50 percent duty on imports from India by US President Donald Trump, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday termed India’s economy as the world’s most ‘domineering and dynamic’ economy and said that some countries that have a sense of ‘everyone’s boss to we’ are not getting this.

Rajnath Singh attacked Trump indirectly, saying that some “bosses” are burning at the fast growth rate of India and are trying to disrupt the country’s economy. He said, “Some people are not happy with the rapid progress of India. They do not like it. ‘Everyone’s boss is we’, so how is India growing so fast?”

America’s 50 percent tariff on India
The US has recently imposed a 25% fee and an additional 25% penalty on Indian goods, as India is continuing to buy oil from Russia. The step was taken after Washington’s allegation that India is funding the war efforts of Russia. Along with this, the US President described India’s economy as “dead” and threatened to increase the fee further.

Trying to stop India’s economy
Rajnath Singh said, “Some countries want the products made in India, the things prepared with Indian hands, become expensive than the rest of the countries, so that the world stops buying them when the price rises.” He expressed confidence that now no power in the world can stop India from becoming a major global power.

Strengthening of defense exports
Describing the defense sector as an example of India’s strength, the Defense Minister said, “We are exporting defense products worth more than Rs 24,000 crore. It is the new defense sector of new India and exports are continuously increasing.” He clarified that the tariff dispute has not affected the region.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national president and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly attacked the central government after the US imposed 25 percent of the Acra Tariff. He posted on X (East Twitter) and wrote that Trump has imposed more tariffs on India, which has increased to 50%, because we bought oil from Russia. It is not diplomacy, but the bullying of the pranks that does not clearly understand how global business works.

Owaisi wrote that these tariffs will harm Indian exporters, MSMI and manufacturers .. It will disrupt the supply chain, prevent direct direct investment (FDI) and make a huge impact on jobs, but why will Narendra Modi care for it? Owesi asked, asking where they are now BJP Bahubali? US President Donald Trump’s tariff
According to the PTI report, the first phase of 25 percent fee declared by US President Donald Trump on imports from India came into force from Thursday (7 August 2025). Last week, the White House announced that India would have to pay a 25 percent fee. After this, Trump issued a government order, in which it was a list that how much duty the US would impose on imports from different countries around the world. Trump had announced a fee rates for about 70 countries in a government order. 25 percent of the counter -duty on India became effective from Thursday. In addition to the 25 percent fee announced last week, President Trump on Wednesday imposed a 25 percent fee for the purchase of Russian oil on India, which has increased the total fee on India to 50 percent, which is one of the highest charges levied by the US on any country. This additional fee will be effective after 21 days i.e. from August 27.

US President Donald Trump has signed a 25 per cent tariff on India on the order. Meanwhile, India has taken a very big decision. Emphasis on increasing the purchase of natural gas
According to sources, India is considering increasing the purchase of natural gas from the US and increasing the import of communication and gold. Officials said that promoting these things can help reduce India’s trade surplus with the US in the next three to four years. He told that there is no plan to purchase defense. New Delhi officials are not considering responding immediately to Trump’s tariff threat. The government has already reserved the right to respond to increased American charges on steel and automobiles at the time of its choice in the World Trade Organization.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s statement
India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had expressed confidence of a trade agreement with Washington a few days ago. He told Parliament on Thursday that the government is now interacting with exporters to assess the impact of Trump’s tariff. Amidst the opposition’s vigorous protests, Goyal said, “The effects of the recent developments are being investigated.” He further said that his ministry is collecting feedback from exporters and industry groups and will take all necessary steps to protect and advance our national interests.
