Amidst the ongoing business tension between India and the US, US President Donald Trump’s close advisor and business affair expert Peter Navarro has once again made a statement. Before the start of trade talks between New Delhi and Washington on Tuesday, Navaro said that ‘India’ is coming to the conversation table. Reuters have given this information quoting one of his interviews. Earlier, he had said that India will have to come to the conversation table, otherwise the situation will not be good for India.

Senior interactor Brendon Lynch arrives in India
According to the report of India Today, this talk is taking place at a time when the US had planned to impose an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian products. In August, India’s exports reached the lowest level in the last nine months. The US had increased tariffs on imported products from India to 50 percent. Due to this, the sixth round of talks between the two countries adjourned in August will now be held on Tuesday. For this, American negotiaters are going to reach New Delhi on Monday.

Fight allegations of Navaro
Peter Navaro had earlier said that India would have to attend business talks with America. He accused India that it is earning unfair advantage by implementing excessive tariffs on the US market. Apart from this, he also claimed that India is promoting war by purchasing oil from Russia. He targeted India as the ‘Maharaja’ of Tariff and gave a controversial statement to tell the Russia-Ukraine war as ‘War of Modi’.

After Trump Tariff, there was increased tussle between the two countries!
After increasing the tariff on India by the US, tension has been seen in the relationship between the two countries. However, there were some signs of softening, when Trump described Prime Minister Modi as a ‘great Prime Minister’ and expressed confidence of friendship. On this, Prime Minister Modi appreciated Trump’s spirit and gave a message that he wants to maintain friendly relations with America.

Recently, US President Donald Trump has started softening his stand towards India. Earlier Trump had imposed heavy business tariffs on India, but now it seems that it did not have much effect. According to former India diplomat KP Fabian, Trump has started to understand that this method was not correct.

50% tariff applied to India
Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on purchasing Russian oil from India, causing the total tariff to 50%, but this did not give the US the desired result. Fabian said that this strategy could not force India to bow down. He called it “Trumped-up Trump Tariff”, which means tariff was imposed without base.

#Watch Delhi: Former Diplomat Kp Fabian Says, “… it is clear that president trump has started that his original and initial expectation that India would surrender when he threeding India with 25% tarifs. Has Started to Realise That He Was Wrong … We Want… pic.twitter.com/hwn358u3mu

Former diplomatic KP Fabian said- ‘It is clear that President Trump is now beginning to understand that his initial estimate was wrong that India would bow to 25% tariff threat. Now they realize that they were wrong … We want to be friends with all and do business, but India will not accept anyone’s rule.

Friendly relationship between Trump and Modi
Recently, Trump said that there is a “very special relationship” between India and America. He also described his personal friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as important. Modi also replied that this feeling is completely mutual. Trump also said that “there is no major problem with India, sometimes there are differences.”

Business agreement negotiation stopped
At present, tariffs remain at 50%. The conversation of the business agreement between the US and India has also stopped. India has made it clear that it will continue to refuse American companies to enter agriculture and other important areas.

External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar has given an important statement. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always seen the Indo-US partnership with seriousness and importance. Jaishankar’s statement came at a time when US President Donald Trump made a positive statement on Indo-US relations.

Jaishankar said that personal relations between Prime Minister Modi and Trump have always been better. He said, “Prime Minister Modi is very serious about our relationship and making a strong partnership with the US is included in his priorities. The Prime Minister’s personal equation with President Trump has always been good. As far as our foreign policy is concerned, we are constantly constantly connecting with America. At the moment I cannot say anything more than this, but I would definitely say that dialogue and cooperation between the two countries continues.”

Importance of Indo-America Relations

It is clear from this statement of the Foreign Minister that India sees relations with America not only from political point of view but also from strategic and economic cooperation. Indo-US partnership in many fields like defense, trade, energy, technology and education has strengthened over the years. Especially in the Indo-Pacific sector, the cooperation of the two countries is also considered important for balanced by China’s increasing activism.

Trump and PM Modi have good relations

Prime Minister Modi and Donald Trump have good personal relations. Both leaders have praised each other many times. Houston’s ‘Howdy Modi’ program and Ahmedabad’s ‘Namaste Trump’ program became a symbol of the strength of Indo-US relations. Jaishankar’s statement indicates that India is in favor of maintaining relations with not only Trump but also American leadership.

There have been differences between India and America on issues like trade and tariffs. Apart from this, challenges have also been reported many times in visa policies and defense deals. Despite this, the importance of strategic partnership between the two countries has not diminished. The Foreign Minister made it clear that the relationship with America is given top priority in India’s foreign policy.

Former Finance Secretary Subhash Garg has come to the statement of Donald Trump on accusing India on profiteering from a huge discount in Russian oil. He has described these allegations of the US President as not an economic reality, but a political drama. Subhash Garg said that India has retreated from the talks about the trade of America due to the tariff.

Talking to NDTV, Garg said that a new CLSA report has already rejected the unexpected profit, showing that India’s actual savings with Russian crude oil are not $ 25 billion annually, but close to $ 2.5 billion. Garg said, “You can tell any number, it doesn’t matter. Trump is using it as a sword to punish India.”

What did you say about the benefits of Russian oil?

According to Garg, after the inclusion of shipping, insurance and blending costs, the real effective discount on the Russian barrel of India is now only $ 3-4 per barrel. He insisted that if Trump wants to use it as a political weapon, then he can choose any figure, while the truth is that India is buying Russian oil while living within the global price limit. There is no violation of any international agreement in this.

What did Garg say on America-India business relations?

On the question of tension in the US-India trade relations, Garg said that after Trump’s 50 percent tariff was imposed, New Delhi has already retreated from the conversation. No one can do business at that tariff level, but India should not formally close the doors, because we should always expect that there will be understanding at some point.

Big statement on buying dairy products

Apart from this, Garg also appealed to India to reconsider his harsh talks, especially in the case of agricultural and consumer goods. He said that we have not been very flexible in cases like dairy products. By importing them, the interests of farmers really do not harm. This is a matter of consumer’s choice and it should come with the option, not with restrictions.

India and America are two major economies of the world and are also important business partners of each other. There is a trade of billions of dollars every year between the two countries. If for some reason the trade between India and America stops completely, then it is a big question that who will suffer the most. If trade between India and America is completely closed, then both countries will be clearly affected, but in this situation India will suffer more loss. Let’s know in detail about this.

Who will suffer more loss

India’s economy is much smaller than the US and its dependence on global trade is more. America is the largest export market in India, a large part of areas like pharmaceuticals, IT services, textiles, gems-jewelery. If the business suddenly stops, then these industries will be hit directly, due to this, not only the income of these companies will fall, but the jobs of millions of people will also be in danger. Foreign exchange reserves, new investment and startup sectors will also have a serious negative effect.

What do data say

First of all, look at the figures. In the year 2023-24, the total bilateral trade between India and the US has been around $ 118 billion. In this, India exported about $ 77 billion to the US, while imported from the US about $ 41 billion. That is, India has a trade surplus of about $ 36 billion with America. If the trade stops then India will suffer loss, because the American market is the biggest customer for Indian IT companies, pharma and textile industry. Millions of jobs will be directly affected. About 60 percent of the IT sector earnings come from the US itself.

America will cost generic medicines expensive

In contrast to this, if we talk about America, then the options of Indian market and supply may be fast available for there, especially electronics, clothes and some medicines. Yes, but America can also find generic medicines and some other items expensive and many companies will have to find a new supplier. But the big and diverse economy of America and many of its business partners can get rid of this loss quickly.

What will be the condition of America

Overall, the loss of the US market for India will have a more serious impact on its economy and industries, while the impact on America will be relatively limited. For this reason, experts believe that in the event of such a business captive, India will get more shock in both economic and social terms.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Hussaini has expressed deep concern over the decision of the US to impose 25 percent additional tariffs on India’s imported products. He described this decision as an inappropriate and unilateral punitive action against India and said that it is harmful not only to India but also for America and global trade.

Policy like punishment for India is not good: Jamaat President

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind president said, “The policy like punishing India is not good, while many countries including the European Union are importing goods and energy from Russia. Every country has full right to decide its foreign and economic policy. Forcibly pressurizing is a dangerous imperialist attitude that weakens the cooperation of the whole world.”

Thousands of people will lose livelihood: Hussaini

He said that applying 50 percent tariffs will cause serious damage to areas like small industries, textiles, carpets and food products. This can take away the livelihood of thousands of workers. American consumers will also have to face expensive prices and low options. These incidents show that inner economic strategies can be made a weapon of external pressure.

He said, “Initially the protectionist policies adopted in the name of saving domestic industries later become a way to pressurize others. As countries are giving priority to national security, international trade system is shattering, which will cause long-term damage.”

India adopted Non-Aligned Policy: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind

He appealed to the Government of India to take this development as a warning and review your diplomatic approach. India now needs to adopt a balanced and non -aligned foreign policy. In the name of friendship of America or other imperialist forces, we should not compromise on our self -reliance and principles. The current policy has failed to fulfill our national interests.

Should India adopt a strategy? Hussaini told

He emphasized three important strategies for India. He said, “India should strengthen its economic relations with countries like Japan, South Korea, European Union and Australia. Also should increase connectivity to ASEAN, BRICS and regional groups to avoid such pressure in future.”

As a second strategy, he said, “India should lead to a balance among global economic forces, leading in economic groups like BRICS, so that no country can force independent countries.”

As a third strategy, India said, “India will have to take concrete steps towards strengthening manufacturing, agriculture and labor areas. Investment, infrastructure and human resource development within the country will have to increase so that the dependence on global forces is reduced.”

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national president and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly attacked the central government after the US imposed 25 percent of the Acra Tariff. He posted on X (East Twitter) and wrote that Trump has imposed more tariffs on India, which has increased to 50%, because we bought oil from Russia. It is not diplomacy, but the bullying of the pranks that does not clearly understand how global business works.

Owaisi wrote that these tariffs will harm Indian exporters, MSMI and manufacturers .. It will disrupt the supply chain, prevent direct direct investment (FDI) and make a huge impact on jobs, but why will Narendra Modi care for it? Owesi asked, asking where they are now BJP Bahubali? Last time I asked if Modi ji will show his 56 -inch chest when Trump would impose 56 percent tariffs. Trump stopped at 50%. Perhaps they are afraid of our non -biological Prime Minister? Was selling your strategic autonomy worth filling the treasures of your friends billionaires?

US President Donald Trump’s tariff
According to the PTI report, the first phase of 25 percent fee declared by US President Donald Trump on imports from India came into force from Thursday (7 August 2025). Last week, the White House announced that India would have to pay a 25 percent fee. After this, Trump issued a government order, in which it was a list that how much duty the US would impose on imports from different countries around the world. Trump had announced a fee rates for about 70 countries in a government order. 25 percent of the counter -duty on India became effective from Thursday. In addition to the 25 percent fee announced last week, President Trump on Wednesday imposed a 25 percent fee for the purchase of Russian oil on India, which has increased the total fee on India to 50 percent, which is one of the highest charges levied by the US on any country. This additional fee will be effective after 21 days i.e. from August 27.

US President Donald Trump has signed a 25 per cent tariff on India on the order. Meanwhile, India has taken a very big decision. According to Bloomberg report, the officials familiar with the case said on the condition of anonymity that India will not buy F-35 stealth fighter aircraft from America. During Modi’s visit to Modi’s White House in February, Trump offered to sell these expensive fighter aircraft to India. However, officials said that the Modi government is more interested in focused on the joint design and construction of defense equipment domestically, but no response has been received from the Ministry of Defense Ministry about the matter yet.

After the US imposition of tariffs, India is considering options to satisfy the US, including promoting American imports. However, India has denied retaliation on President Donald Trump’s 25% tariff’s decision. New Delhi officials on Wednesday (30 July 2025) spoke of shocking and disappointed with Trump’s announcement, as this conversation was private. He said on the condition of anonymity that the government is keen to bring bilateral trade talks back on track and is looking for ways to increase shopping from its biggest business partner.

Emphasis on increasing the purchase of natural gas
According to sources, India is considering increasing the purchase of natural gas from the US and increasing the import of communication and gold. Officials said that promoting these things can help reduce India’s trade surplus with the US in the next three to four years. He told that there is no plan to purchase defense. New Delhi officials are not considering responding immediately to Trump’s tariff threat. The government has already reserved the right to respond to increased American charges on steel and automobiles at the time of its choice in the World Trade Organization.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s statement
India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had expressed confidence of a trade agreement with Washington a few days ago. He told Parliament on Thursday that the government is now interacting with exporters to assess the impact of Trump’s tariff. Amidst the opposition’s vigorous protests, Goyal said, “The effects of the recent developments are being investigated.” He further said that his ministry is collecting feedback from exporters and industry groups and will take all necessary steps to protect and advance our national interests.

US President Donald Trump is ‘disappointed’ with the ongoing trade agreement with India. Trump believes that this situation will soon be cured by imposing 25% import duty (tariff) on India. He has announced to make this tariff effective from August 1. This decision has been taken at a time when the interim trade agreement between the two countries could not be made before the deadline. White House Economic Advisor Kevin Haset said this to news agency Reuters.

What did Kevin Haset say?
According to a report by the news agency Reuters, Kevin Haset said, ‘I think President Trump is disappointed with the slow pace of trade talk with India, but he is confident that 25% tariffs will improve the situation and it will be beneficial for the American public. Trump and US trade representative Zamison Greer will soon share more information about the extra penalty which the President has announced ‘. In fact, Trump has also announced a fine by India for the purchase of oil and weapons from Russia.

What is the hindrance in Indo-US trade talks?
India’s strictness remains a major hurdle over opening agriculture and dairy areas in the ongoing business talks between India and America. The attitude of the Government of India is clear that it will not compromise with the interests of its farmers and dairy sector. The business agreement has not been agreed on this issue. US officials will visit India in late August, in which the sixth round of trade talks is expected to be held.

India’s response – no agreement with national interest
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India has said that the possible effects of tariffs imposed by the US are being studied. The ministry also clarified that India will not compromise on the national interest to finalize the trade agreement with the US.

The trade deal between India and America has been finalized. Now America will impose 25 percent tariff on imports from India. It has been announced by President Donald Trump. Trump said that India will have to pay 25 percent tariff from August 1.

Donald Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth, ‘India is our friend, but we have done relatively less trade with India in the last several years, because their tariffs are very high, the most in the world.’

The US President said that India has bought most of the weapons and other military equipment from Russia. With this, he said that India as well as India is one of the biggest oil borrowers of Russia. When everyone wants to stop killing people in Russia Ukraine, then all these things are not good. Trump further wrote, ‘Therefore India will have to pay 25 percent tariff and fine from August 1.’

Trump’s sharp attack on India
US President Donald Trump described India as a ‘friend’ in a strong post, but at the same time described Indian trade policies as ‘very tax imposed’ and ‘most harassing in the world’. He said that India’s taxes are the highest in the world and this country also makes non-economic trade obstacles very difficult.

Russia-Ukraine blamed India and China for war
Trump also alleged that India and China are funding the war of Russia. Trump says that if he takes oath again on January 20, he will end this war within 24 hours. He said that India and China buy the most energy and military equipment from Russia, affecting global efforts to prevent violence in Ukraine.

Cleaning on India’s oil purchase
In response to the criticism of Trump for India’s procurement of oil from Russia, the Indian government has already made it clear that this decision has been taken in view of the country’s energy needs and budget limitations. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has said many times that India’s oil import is not based on the demand of the market, but the demand for the market.
