Former US Pentagon official Michael Rubin gave a taunting statement on US President Donald Trump. He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin got a warm welcome in India, for this it is not Putin but Donald Trump who deserves the Nobel Prize. It is because of Trump that India and Russia have come so close. That means now even big people of America are taking a jibe at Trump.

Because of Trump, Putin got the highest respect in India
Rubin said in an interview to ANI that Putin’s visit to India was very positive from Moscow’s point of view. India gave Putin such respect which was not found anywhere else. He said, ‘I say that Donald Trump should get the Nobel Prize because he has connected India and Russia in this way.’

But Rubio also raised the question that how successful will the agreements reached in this tour actually be? He believes that many agreements were made because of India’s anger with Trump. India was angry with the way Trump treated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.

Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin

Two different views of American policies
Rubin said that if you are a Trump supporter, this tour will feel like ‘I told you so’. Trump will feel that India’s coming closer to Russia proves his point. But if you are against Trump like 65% of Americans, then all this is the result of Trump’s big mistake.

Rubin accused Trump of turning America-India relations upside down. Trump’s decisions were influenced by flattery or bribery efforts from Pakistan, Turkey and Qatar.

It is a big mistake to weaken the strategic partnership with India.
Rubin strongly criticized Trump’s India policy. He said that many people in Washington are surprised at how Trump weakened the strategic partnership with India. This was a big mistake, which will harm America in the long run. Rubin says that Trump will never admit his mistake. He will call this the success of his foreign policy.

Rubin gave advice to America only regarding India
He advised America not to preach to India on buying Russian oil. Putin had promised to provide uninterrupted oil supply to India. Rubin said, ‘Americans do not understand how much energy India needs. India is the most populous country in the world and will soon become the third largest economy. Indians have elected Modi to protect their interests.

America itself buys oil from Russia when options are less. If America does not want India to buy Russian oil, then how will it provide cheap and required quantity of oil? If the answer is no, it is better to remain silent. India has to take care of its own security first.

Targeted at the closeness of America and Pakistan
Rubin said that America should declare Pakistan a country that harbors terrorism. If Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir comes to America, he should be arrested.

This statement of Rubin is sparking a new debate on American policies in India-Russia relations. It will be interesting to see how these relationships will change after Trump’s return.

Political debate has started once again in America regarding H-1B Visa. President Donald Trump’s recent order calls for new restrictions and a fee of approximately $1,00,000 (about Rs 83 lakh) on non-immigrant workers, especially H-1B visa holders. The purpose of this step of Trump is said to be to promote domestic employment. Apart from this, American lawmakers and industry experts believe that this decision can be harmful for both America’s technological leadership and India-US partnership.

Four prominent lawmakers from California and Texas, Jimmy Panetta, Ami Bera, Salud Carbajal and Julie Johnson, have written a letter demanding President Trump to reconsider this policy. He says that the H-1B visa program is the fundamental basis of the American economy and innovation. Limiting it will weaken America’s competitiveness in areas like AI, cyber security and scientific research. The lawmakers wrote that this move would prove to be a major blow not only to talented foreign professionals, but also to American startups and research institutions.

There will be a direct impact on India

These MPs specifically took the name of India in their letter and said that this policy can deeply hurt the India-US strategic partnership. He wrote, ‘High-skilled technical talent coming from India is an integral part of our innovation ecosystem. Limiting the H-1B visa program will not only hinder technological progress but will also affect relations with our democratic ally India. According to the information, last year 71% H-1B visas were issued to Indian citizens, which makes it clear that India is the biggest beneficiary country of this program.

Why should America step back when China is increasing investment?

The lawmakers said that when powers like China are investing billions of dollars in artificial intelligence and robotics, America should focus on attracting talent, not limiting it. He warned that if this policy continues to be implemented, it will reduce America’s innovation capacity and weaken its position in global competition.

The burden on small businesses will increase

The MPs also argued that such high fees would make it almost impossible for small startups and research institutes to hire international talent. According to him, this policy will only favor big companies, while the real strength of American innovation lies in small businesses and emerging startups.”

Possible impact on India-US relations

Diplomatic analysts say that this visa policy of Trump can affect the strategic partnership that has been going on between the two countries for years. A large number of Indian professionals work in America in fields like technology, engineering, medicine and finance. Experts say that if new tariffs and restrictions are implemented, it will not only reduce Indian talent flow but will also limit educational and business cooperation between the two countries.

US President Donald Trump has once again taken a tough stance on India and said that if India continues to import crude oil from Russia, it will have to pay heavy import tariffs. Trump gave this statement while talking to journalists in his plane Air Force One. He said, ‘I spoke to Prime Minister Modi. He said that India will not buy Russian oil. If they do not do so, they will have to pay heavy tariffs.

The Trump administration believes that the countries buying oil from Russia are indirectly providing financial support to the Ukraine war, that is why America is continuously putting pressure on the countries buying energy from Russia. In the past months, America had requested many countries including India to reduce or stop Russian oil imports.

India has rejected Trump’s claim

Trump has already claimed that PM Modi has assured him that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. However, Trump’s claim has been rejected by the Indian Foreign Ministry. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that the aim of India’s energy policy is to protect the interests of its consumers. He said that India is a responsible energy importer. We take our decisions independently so that prices remain stable and supply remains diverse. India reiterated that its priority is to maintain economic balance and meet domestic needs and not to come under any political pressure.

Trump’s tariffs affected India

The Trump administration had increased the import duty on many Indian products earlier this year. This includes clothes, medicines and agricultural products. Indian industry organizations say that this policy has had a negative impact on exports. If a new tariff is imposed on the issue of Russian oil, India-US trade relations may sour.

Controversy over Modi-Trump conversation

Trump claimed in his statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised him not to buy Russian oil. Although the Indian government has clarified that there is no official record of any such conversation, when journalists raised questions on this, Trump said that if they did not agree, they would have to pay heavy tariffs.

India’s energy strategy

India is the third largest oil importer in the world. New Delhi says its goal is to maintain affordable, sustainable and diverse energy supply. India currently buys oil from Saudi Arabia, America, Russia and United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, a senior official of the Energy Ministry said that oil from Russia is proving to be the cheapest deal economically, hence India considers it a part of its energy security strategy.

Us baseline tariff: The future of 10% baseline tariffs imposed on imports from all countries on April 2 by the Trump administration has now become the focal point of negotiations deciding the initial outline of the Indo-US trade agreement. According to experts associated with the case, this issue is being raised prominently in the ongoing conversation between New Delhi and Washington.

India objected to objection, demand to remove tariffs from America
According to sources associated with the negotiations, Indian negotiaters have demanded from the US side that not only 10% of the baseline tariffs should be removed, but also the proposed 16% additional fee from July 9 should not be applied. India’s attitude is clear that if America does not remove this fee, it will also have the right to continue the counter tariff equally on American goods.

Fifth round conversation is going on in Delhi
On June 4, a high -level delegation led by US trade representative Brendon Lynch reached Delhi. This is the fifth face to face between the two countries on this issue. This team will now remain in Delhi till June 10, whereas earlier it was described as a journey of only two days.

“Tariffs should be removed together from both sides”
A senior official said, “The ideal situation will be that as soon as there is an interim agreement, 10% baseline tariffs applied to Indian goods and 16% fees from July 9 should be abolished together. Otherwise India will also have the right to continue a total tariff on America’s goods.”

Modi-Trump’s joint announcement referred to
The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump in Washington on 13 February and a shared statement emphasized the need for ‘Mutual Beneficial’ and ‘Fair Trade Terms’. In this sequence, under ‘Mission 500’, a target has been set to bring bilateral trade to $ 500 billion by the year 2030.

“Equality, balance and public acceptance is necessary”
Another official associated with the talks said, “Both countries are sovereign – one oldest democracy and the second largest democracy. America is the largest economy and India is the fastest growing economy. In such a situation, any agreement should be balanced, justified and acceptable for people.”

India has also indicated that it is ready to open its market for American goods, provided America also respond in equal way. An official said, “Our business is mutually complementary, not competitive.”

India objected to America-UK deal
Citing Britain’s experience, India made it clear that it will not adopt any model in which tariffs remain. Britain got some exemption in the ‘Economic Prosperity Deal’ (EPD) received from the US, but 10% baseline tariff is still applicable.

Deal race before July 9
The two countries want to finalize an ‘Early Harvest Deal’ before July 9, so that the large tariff can be relieved before it is implemented. After this, work on full bilateral trade agreement (BTA) is likely to be completed by September-October 2025.

Goyal’s visit to America was also important
During this period, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also lived in the US from 17 to 22 May, where he held important meetings with his counterpart US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik and US Trade Representative Jamison Greece. The impact of these meetings is now clearly visible in the ongoing conversation in Delhi.

Us china tariff war: World Famous Economist and UN Advisor Professor Jeffrey Sachs has advised India to avoid being a part of America’s Geopolitical Strategies. Speaking on Wednesday in Rising Bharat Summit 2025, he said that India should not become a tool of America’s “anti-China agenda”.

America wants to use India against China

Jeffrey warned, “America wants to make India stand against China. India should not fall into this American game … India is much bigger than that.” He said that Washington always tries to maintain its dominance by dividing between countries and is now trying to use India as a ‘counterweight’ against China.

India-China can make the world better

Although Jeffrey admitted that some issues between India and China were disputed, they insisted on resolving them by negotiating with both countries. He said, “Both of you are 40 percent of the world’s population and together can create a better world.”

Question on coalition like quad

Jeffrey Sachs also questioned India’s participation in military-reconitive alliances like Quad. He said that these alliances keep America’s interests paramount and not of India.

He said, “America is happy when India is in the quad. It wants India to criticize China. I have heard some Indian leaders saying that the American trade policy is the reason for China. No, it is not … It is not due to the policies of Donald Trump. So be careful, be careful, do not fall into this game.”

America’s friendship can be dangerous

Jeffrey Sachs described America’s foreign policy as “control-based” and said that he can also harm his colleagues. He said in strong words, “If you are a friend of America, be careful. It can be very dangerous. I have seen America befriending countries all my life, which was later ruined due to the same ‘friendship’.”

British looted India

Sachs also reminded that both India and China have created large economies despite colonial exploitation. He said, “India was the largest or second largest economy in the world for centuries before the British arrived, but the British looted and weakened it.”

Should India distance away from America?

This statement of Professor Sachs has come at a time when Indo-US relations are getting stronger, but there is also tension with China. Now in such a situation, the question arises whether India should emphasize its independent foreign policy? Or is a strategic partnership required at this time?

99 f-404 engine: There are concerns about tariffs between India and America, but there is positive progress in the field of security cooperation. American aircraft engine manufacturer General Electric (GE) is preparing to hand over the first engine of 99 GE-404 engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by the end of this month. This delivery is being done after a delay of two years, which will give relief to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and will speed up the Tejas MK1A program. Under this program, 83 Tejas MK1A fighter aircraft are to be supplied to the Indian Air Force.

The GE-404 engine provides strength to the Tejas Mark 1-A combat aircraft manufactured in India. The Air Force has already expressed concern over the delay in delivery of HAL by HAL. According to the officials associated with the case, the first engine is currently on the test-bed and can be assigned to HAL by the end of this month. After this, delivery of 12 engines and then 20 engines every year is planned in 2025.

HAL will get the engine by the end of March

Under the 716 million dollars contract in 2021, GE was to supply 99 f-404 engines, which was to be started from March 2023. However, this delivery was affected due to the closure of the old supplier during the supply chain and the closure of the old supplier during the epidemic. According to officials, the first engine is undergoing testing process and will be assigned to HAL by the end of March.

Work on GE-414 engine construction continues in India

GE and HAL are jointly working on the construction of GE-414 engines in India. This engine will provide strength to the advanced multi-rall combat aircraft (AMCA), which is developing the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Under this project, technology transfer is planned under the ICET agreement between India and the US.

Plan for private sector participation in AMCA construction

The Indian Air Force has expressed dissatisfaction due to the delay in supply of 83 LCA MK-1A fighter aircraft by HAL. In view of this, the Ministry of Defense, Defense Secretary R.K. Of. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Singh, which will work on a commercial model for the construction of the fifth generation fighter aircraft (AMCA) of India. This committee will prepare a roadmap not on technical aspects, but to ensure private sector participation. Its main objective is that India should not depend only on HAL in future and other manufacturers also contribute to fighter aircraft manufacturing.

Option of American F-35 and French Rafael

Former US President Donald Trump has proposed a supply of F-35 fifth-generation fighter jet to India. However, India is also considering the French option during this period. As part of a conversation with France, the ‘Atmibhaar Bharat’ campaign includes the proposal to manufacture the Rafale fighter aircraft in India and its M-88 engine. These new defense initiatives are expected to further strengthen India’s security capabilities.
