During the meeting with King Charles III, PM Modi gave him as a plant offering. The Royal Family shared a post on the social media platform X on Thursday (July 24, 2025) on the meeting of PM Modi and King Charles.

In its post on X, The Royal Family said, “Today, on the afternoon of Thursday (July 24), King Charles III welcomed India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sandringham House. During this meeting, PM Modi was given a plant as a plant to King Charles. The plant will be planted in the fall.”

The post further stated, “This plant is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign ‘Name of a tree mother’. This campaign of Prime Minister Modi encourages people to plant a tree in memory of his mothers.”

PM Modi presented which plant to King Charles,

The plant given by Prime Minister Modi during the meeting with King Charles III of the United Kingdom (UK), is called Davidia Involucrata Sonoma. This is also commonly called Sonoma Dow Tree or Hacchif tree. It is a kind of decorative plant, which is known to give quick and more quantity of flowers.

Where the common species of Davidia Involucrata takes 10 to 20 years to flowers in plants. At the same time, the Sonoma species tree starts giving flowers in just 2 to 3 years. The most special khubi of this plant is its two big white petals, which look like a handkerchief hanging from branches and create a beautiful scene in the last season of spring.

India-uk free trade deal: Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a historic visit to the UK. This evening, there will be a meeting between PM Modi and British Prime Minister Kerr Stmper. It is expected that during this time both will officially sign the free trade agreement of both countries.

An analysis of Moneycontrol has revealed that India’s free trade agreement with Britain will make consumer goods like industrial input and alcohol cheaper for Indian consumers. However, this can cause damage to existing trade flows from the US and Japan.

Impact on $ 1.24 billion exports from America

If the trade deal between India and Britain is confirmed, then India will reduce 85 percent tariff on exports from Britain. This is no less than a challenge for other big exposters of India. In 2024, the US exported $ 39 billion goods to India.

The agreement between India and Britain can stagger an export of $ 1.24 billion from the US to India from the US, which is about 3.2 percent of the total exports to India. American exports such as copper and iron waste and scrap are the highest risk, with a value of $ 70.3 million.

Apart from this, the alarm bell is also hanging on the category like machinery, auto parts, contact lenses and medical devices. Now when Britain will get the benefit of low tax on the products sent to India, the Bation American expoters may have to suffer losses in these sectors.

These countries including Japan also likely to harm

However, not only America, but also Japan’s name is included in this list. According to the data by UN Comtrade, Japan exported $ 19.9 billion goods in India last year.

Japan may face competition in its 2.2 percent exports in India-UK FTA. For India, the European Union’s 1.7 percent export will be directly competing with Britain’s products. The exports of Australia and Canada may also have an impact of 1.6 percent and 1.4 percent respectively.

India-uk free trade agreement: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Britain on a tour of two days (23-24 July 2025). During this time, the trade agreement between India and Britain will be finalized in May. It is expected that the deal will be formally signed during this period.

PM Modi will go on a four -day tour of Britain and Maldives from Wednesday. In the first phase, he will go to Britain on July 23-24 and in the second phase will be on a tour of Maldives on 25-26 July. He will attend the Independence Day celebrations in Maldives as ‘Chief Guest’.

Negotiations on the deal started in 2022

This trade agreement between India and Britain is considered very important. India is the fifth largest economy in the world and Britain is the sixth largest economy in the world. In January 2022, the first conversation on this agreement began. In three years, 14 rounds of talks have been completed so far. This agreement will boost the trade of both countries. This will promote India’s export, leather and engineering goods exports. Also, UK products like whiskey, automobile and medical devices will also benefit.

What will be the benefit of India?

In FY 2024, UK worth $ 12.9 billion (about 1.12 lakh crore rupees) was exported from India. These included products such as leather, footwear, james and jewelery, textiles and clogging, furniture, sports goods, chemical, transport/auto components. In Britain, these products of India are charged with a duty fee of up to 4-16 percent. In such a situation, if the tariff is less then India will benefit more.

Both countries benefit from the deal

Scotch whiskey from Britain and Jin’s import duty will be initially reduced to 75 percent and 40 percent by 10th year. At the moment, it is 150 percent. Under the quota of both sides, the tariff on the automobile of Britain will be reduced from 100 percent to 10 percent, which will benefit companies like Tata-JLR.

Whiskey is ordered from Britain to India worth more than 20 million pounds (Rs 2,310 crore) every year. Tariffs on internal combustion engine (ice) vehicles will be gradually reduced in the long term. Tariff on luxury cars will also be reduced from 100 percent to 10 percent under the quota of both sides. UK companies will get special discounts under the ‘Make in India’ policy. Every year business will grow between the two countries.

Export of both countries will increase

This deal is expected to increase around 60 percent (15.7 billion pounds – 1.81 lakh crore rupees) in Britain’s exports to India. With this, India’s exports to Britain are also expected to increase 25 percent (9.8 billion pounds – 1.13 lakh crore rupees). India is the 12th largest trading partner in Britain, while Britain is the 14th largest trading partner in India.

Total is a turnover of Rs 195,937 crore (Rs 1.95 lakh crore) between India and Britain. India’s exports to Britain are Rs 123,055 crore (Rs 1.23 lakh crore), while goods worth Rs 72,882 crore are exported from Britain.

Prime Minister Modi will be on a tour of Britain and Maldives between July 23-26. PM Modi will first reach the UK on July 23 and will attend several bilateral programs in London. PM Modi will meet UK Prime Minister Sir Kir Stmper on July 24.

King Charles III and PM Modi may meet

During this time, Prime Minister Modi and King Charles III of UK are also expected to meet. During this visit, both sides will also review the progress of comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP), focusing special focus on trade and economy, technology and innovation, defense and safety, climate, health, education and people.

PM Modi will visit Maldives on 25-26 July

At the same time, in the second phase of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will be on a visit to Maldives on 25-26 July. On the invitation of Dr. Mohammad Mujju, President of Maldives, PM Modi will visit Maldives. This will be Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Maldives and PM Modi’s first visit to Maldives during Dr. Mohammad Mujju’s President’s period.

PM Modi will be the chief guest of Maldives’s 60th independence ceremony

In Maldives, Prime Minister Modi will be the chief guest at the 60th anniversary of Maldives on 26 July. During this visit, PM Modi will meet the President of Maldives, Dr. Mohammad Muizzu and discuss issues of mutual interest. The two leaders will also take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the India-Maldives joint approach for the comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership of the President of Maldives in October 2024.
