The Pakistan government presented a budget of Rs 18,771 billion for 2026-27 amid strong opposition from the opposition. When Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb was presenting the budget in Parliament, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of PPP, an ally in the Shahbaz government, was not present there. The largest part of the budget will go to repay the loan. Out of the total budget, Rs 8.054 lakh crore has been earmarked to repay the loan interest.

How much less is Pakistan’s defense budget compared to India?

Rs 3 lakh crore has been allocated for defence. Pakistan’s defense budget for the financial year 2024-2025 was fixed at Rs 2.122 lakh crore, which was approximately US $ 7.6 billion at that time. India’s central defense budget for the financial year 2025-2026 was Rs 6,81,210 crore (about $78.57 billion). This is about 13 percent of the country’s total government expenditure and about 2 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

In the budget presented by the Government of Pakistan, more decisions were taken regarding defense and fighter jets instead of plans to remove poverty of the common people. After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan is busy strengthening its defense because during this time the Indian Army had entered inside PAK and caused a lot of destruction.

Mention of defense agreement with Saudi Arabia

According to the report of Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the economy is expected to grow by four percent in the financial year 2026-27 and the average inflation is expected to be 8.2 percent. He said that many countries are in touch with Pakistan to include the fighter planes that protect our skies in their fleet. The Finance Minister said that the country’s defense sector has become a source of foreign exchange income. Praising Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, he said that the defense agreement signed with Saudi Arabia last year has given a new foundation to the relations between the two countries.

Did not burden the public: PAK government

Referring to the rising prices at the international level, he said that the government did not put the entire burden on the public, but provided relief to the people by giving a subsidy of Rs 128 billion. This is the third budget of Shehbaz Sharif government. Giving the account of previous years, he said, ‘GDP growth rate in the current financial year was 3.7 percent. Large scale manufacturing grew by 6.1% and service sector grew by 4.1%, which is the highest in 4 years. Pakistan’s economy has increased to 452 billion dollars. He said that apart from this, the government has also started loan schemes to promote small farmers and small businesses.

Amidst the uproar over former Indian Army chief General MM Naravane during the budget session of Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey has given advice to the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Referring to the letter of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, he targeted Rahul Gandhi.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey shared a post on social media platform X on Monday (February 2, 2026). Dubey said in the post, ‘Rahul Gandhi should immediately read the views of his grandfather Nehru ji about the then Army Chief General Cariappa ji. General Thimayya’s letter, Field Marshal Manekshaw’s letter and Mathai ji’s book are very dangerous. Have some regard for national security.

What did Nishikant Dubey say in the post?

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also shared a picture in his X post. It was written in bold letters in the picture, ‘General Cariappa has completely derailed, mentally and in every way. The strained relationship between Nehru and the first army chief revealed in the letters.

Rahul Gandhi ji@RahulGandhi Read the thoughts of your grandfather Nehru ji about the then Army Chief General Cariappa ji. General Thimayya’s letter, Field Marshal Manekshaw’s letter and Mathai ji’s book are very dangerous. Please pay some attention to national security pic.twitter.com/Pe35VO9LrY

 — Dr Nishikant Dubey (@nishikant_dubey) February 2, 2026

It read, ‘In the Prime Minister’s view, General Cariappa’s frequent interference in non-military matters often became a cause of conflict. Due to this, many sharp letters were written between the two, which clearly shows the deep gulf between India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and the first Army Chief General M. Cariappa.

BJP MP raised many questions on Rahul Gandhi?

“Who gave Tibet to China?”

“Who gave Aksai Chin to China saying not a blade of grass grows there?”

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, while talking to journalists in the Parliament complex, asked many questions at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. He said, ‘Rahul Gandhi should first answer who gave Tibet to China? Who gave Aksai Chin to China, that too saying that not even a single strand of grass grows there? China, which was never our neighbour, had a border with India, then who made it our country’s neighbour? Weren’t Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet the three buffer states between India and China?

Union Budget 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 on February 1. Like every time, this time too this budget brought some relief and some pressure for different sectors of the economy. The basic objective of this budget presented on Sunday was to maintain the development, improvement and economic stability of the country. On one hand, while giving priority to development, expenditure on infrastructure has been increased, on the other hand, the government has also shown strictness in some areas to strengthen its revenue position.

What relief to taxpayers?

Talking about relief measures, the government has tried to provide relief to the taxpayers by simplifying the income tax rules instead of giving them direct exemption in tax slabs. This includes giving additional time for filing income tax revised returns, reducing tax penalties and decriminalizing some technical or unintentional mistakes. These measures are expected to reduce mental pressure on taxpayers as well as increase confidence in the tax system.

The government has also relaxed the rules to promote foreign investment. An attempt has been made to make India more attractive for investment by increasing investment limits and simplifying some tax related provisions. Its objective is to increase capital inflows and accelerate economic activities in the long term.

What did consumers get?

From the consumers’ point of view, customs duty on many life-saving medicines and essential medical supplies has been reduced in the budget, which is likely to reduce the cost of treatment. However, a section of consumers have been disappointed due to not getting any special relief on some digital products and items of daily use. Overall, the budget seems to be trying to strike a balance between development and revenue balance, but the relief provided to the common man seems to be limited.

What are the benefits?

Now there will be no customs duty on 17 types of life saving medicines. These include cancer medicines, medicines and special food for seven types of rare diseases.

Customs duty cut on microwave

Customs duty reduction on many types of capital goods increased

Steps taken to increase exports of textiles, leather and marine goods

Share buyback will be taxable and treated as capital gains for all shareholders

Also read: Fitch Ratings’ big statement on India’s Budget 2026, estimates the country’s GDP growth rate

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the General Budget 2026-26 in the Parliament today, Sunday, February 1. Reactions are continuously coming from across the country regarding the Union Budget 2026-27. Meanwhile, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal has given her reaction on the Union Budget.

MP Jagdambika Pal has praised the ninth Union Budget of the country and called it a budget for the growth of youth. On the question of the opposition cornering the government on the budget, he said that we are continuously lagging behind countries like China and America in growth rate. He said that reform, perform and transform is the basic mantra.

BJP MP Jagdambika Pal praised the budget

On Sunday, February 1, at Gorakhpur Airport, senior BJP leader and Dumariyaganj MP Jagdambika Pal, while praising the budget, said that while the present government is patting itself on the back regarding the 9th Union Budget of the country, the opposition is continuously trying to corner the government regarding the budget.

‘Three priorities of the duty of the budget’

He said that the budget is completely a dream budget of Yuva Shakti or Youth Power. Regarding the way this budget has been prepared in Dutva Bhavan, the Finance Minister has said that this budget of ours has three priorities. First, the pace of development should be accelerated and sustained. By competing globally in the manufacturing sector, we gave Rs 10 thousand crores to create a biopharma hub in medicine for the whole world.

‘The corridor will increase the speed of the country’

He said that in the budget, seven corridors have been given to increase connectivity in the country, out of which UP has got two. First from Varanasi to Siliguri and second from Delhi to Varanasi. Certainly, the way airports are increasing, the way high speed rail corridors are increasing, this will also increase the speed of the country. Regarding this budget, it was said that reform, perform and transform are the basic mantras.

In this budget, the graph of TDS in education and health has also been revised to 2 percent. Till now, revenue expenditure was more in the budget, but this is the first time that it was spent on capital expenditure. Till now, after the independence of the country, Rs 12.2 lakh crore has been spent on infrastructure. For example, the biggest expenditure on infrastructure after independence is being made on highways, airports, railways and bullet trains.

MP told what did UP-Bihar get in the ‘Budget’?

What did UP and Bihar get in the budget? On this question, he said that there are Buddhist circuits, high speed corridors, women’s hostels in every district, where will the village women live in the city now. This thing should have been thought of earlier. There will be a trauma center in every district. Emergency hospital facility will be available in every district. On the question of opposition i.e. Akhilesh and Mamata Banerjee cornering the government on the budget, he said that we are continuously lagging behind countries like China and America in growth rate.

Budget 2026: If we understand Budget 2026 as a whole in paragraphs, it shows the government’s strategy in which it is relying more on long-term development planning rather than immediate relief. Emphasizing on capital expenditure, infrastructure, healthcare and connectivity, the Finance Minister clearly indicated that the path to growth will come from big projects.

positive for economy

Announcements like high-speed rail corridor, huge investment for tier-2 and tier-3 cities, Ayurvedic AIIMS and medical hubs can be considered positive for the future economy. Along with this, making medicines for cancer and rare diseases duty free and extending the deadline for revised income tax returns is a practical relief for the common people, although its impact is limited.

On the other hand, the salaried middle class and youth have been most disappointed with the budget. No change in income tax slabs and no tax relief despite inflationary pressure is a big blow to the middle class. Despite the talk of ‘youth-first’, there is a clear lack of new schemes or concrete job incentives to generate employment on a large scale.

Danger of slowing down infrastructure

There is also a danger of slowing down the pace of employment and infrastructure in cities due to cuts in schemes like urban development, metro and internship. Apart from this, there was resentment among retail investors due to increase in STT on F&O trade, the effect of which was reflected in the fall of the stock market immediately after the budget.

Overall, this budget seems to try to strengthen the “economy of tomorrow”, but has not been able to provide the expected relief to the people struggling with “today’s job, today’s income and today’s inflation”. The government has claimed to have laid a strong foundation of development, but how soon the benefits of that development will reach the common man remains the biggest question on this budget.

Also read: An announcement in the budget and the stock market crashed, investors lost Rs 8 lakh crore in one stroke

Traders in Delhi’s Gandhinagar Market have given mixed reactions to the general budget presented by the Central Government. Traders say that this time’s budget is not going to have much impact and it has not given the required attention to the local markets as well as the problems of small businessmen.

‘This time’s budget is nothing special’- Pradhan Praveen Gupta

Praveen Gupta, shopkeeper and head of Gandhinagar Market, Subhash Road Association, while reacting on the budget, said that ‘this time’s budget is nothing special and it is almost the same as last year’s budget’. He said that there is nothing new in this which can give any special benefit to the district or local level traders. Praveen Gupta said that the budget mainly provides relief for people going abroad, where one tax has been reduced from 5 percent to 2 percent.

After this he said that the market situation has remained weak since the Corona period and the government should take concrete steps keeping in mind the situation of the market and small traders.

At the same time, Jitendra Singh, a shopkeeper of Gandhinagar Market and a member of the organization, gave a relatively positive response to the budget. He said that the GST rates on products have been fixed by the government in a balanced manner, which provides relief to traders. According to him, this will benefit not only the traders but also the consumers in the future.

‘If business is not good, then how will traders be able to pay taxes’?

Vice President of Gandhinagar Market Subhash Road Association and shopkeeper Narendra Sharma said that this time the budget has also been normal like last year. He said that at present business is not going well and the problem will not be solved by merely increasing taxes.

They believe that if business does not run properly, how will traders be able to pay taxes? However, he also said that making children’s education affordable abroad is a positive step. Along with this, he termed increasing the prices of liquor and cigarettes as a good decision.

Congress General Secretary and former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government regarding the Union Budget 2026. Describing this budget as devoid of a ‘reliable roadmap’, Pilot said that it is limited only to election announcements and this has caused huge disappointment to the general public, especially the youth.

Putting the government in the dock on the issue of employment, Sachin Pilot said that the Finance Minister has announced the schemes, but it is not clear how many youth will get work on the ground. He said that the government did not present any transparent data of previous announcements as to how many jobs were created. Today the youth of the country is struggling with ‘under-employment’ and is worried about the future.

The announcements of the Union Budget 2026 have once again disappointed the general public, especially the youth. The Finance Minister has announced many schemes, but in the absence of a clear and reliable roadmap, it is difficult to understand how many and what real employment opportunities there will be for the youth in the coming times.

— Sachin Pilot (@SachinPilot) February 1, 2026

Ignoring inflation and economic challenges

Criticizing the budget, Pilot said that despite global and domestic economic instability, the government does not have any concrete strategy to control inflation. The common man is already troubled by back-breaking inflation, but no major relief was given to him in the budget.

Neglect of women, farmers and rural economy

The Congress leader alleged that important sections of the society have been ignored in the budget and there is a lack of concrete plans for economic self-reliance. Agriculture was not given the priority it required. Rural Development: The claims of strengthening the rural economy appear hollow and the apathy of the government is clearly visible.

BJP ruled states also ‘cheated’

Sachin Pilot expressed surprise that despite BJP governments in states like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, no new big project was announced for these states. He described it as a ‘deception’ of the public.

Describing the budget as a failed step towards balanced development, Sachin Pilot has termed it a purely “election budget”, which is far from reality.

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has expressed a strong reaction to the Union Budget presented by the Modi government in Parliament today. Describing this budget as dashing the hopes of Rajasthan, Gehlot has accused the central government of ‘step-motherly treatment’ towards the state.

Ashok Gehlot said that it is very unfortunate that the country’s largest state Rajasthan was not even mentioned in the budget speech. Calling it an insult to the people of Rajasthan, he said that the state had great expectations from this budget, but Rajasthan was completely missing from the Finance Minister’s speech.

Silence on ERCP and development projects

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot especially raised the issue of Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). He said, “The Center has not announced any clear roadmap or special financial assistance for such a big project to quench the thirst of the state. The absence of any new railway project or metro project for Rajasthan in the budget shows that the development of Rajasthan is not the priority of the Centre.

Disappointment faced by the poor and unorganized sector

Describing the budget as against the common man, Gehlot said that there is no major provision of relief for the poor, workers and a large population of the unorganized sector. Amidst rising inflation and unemployment, this class was expecting some big scheme from this budget, but their hands remained empty.

‘High shop, dull dish’

Taking a dig at the claims of the double engine government, Gehlot termed this budget as ‘damp squib’ (high shop, dull dish) in the context of Rajasthan. He said that despite BJP government in the state, Rajasthan not getting anything in the budget proves that the talk of ‘double engine’ is just an election slogan and in reality no benefit of it is visible on the ground.

This reaction of Ashok Gehlot makes it clear that in the coming days, the opposition will intensify its siege of the government for ignoring Rajasthan and development projects.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a scathing attack on the central government regarding the Union Budget. He said that this budget is neither in the interest of women nor takes into account the needs of the states. Mamata Banerjee alleged that only talk has been made in the budget, there is nothing on the ground and this will harm the country’s economy.

Nothing in the budget for women
Mamta Banerjee said that no concrete provision has been made for women in this budget. He alleged that the government talks about women empowerment, but nothing was given for it in the budget.

Bengal was completely ignored
The Chief Minister said that not even a single penny has been kept for West Bengal in this budget. He alleged that the central government is continuously discriminating against Bengal and the state is being deprived of its rights.

Allegation of use of Election Commission and agencies
Mamata Banerjee said that only SIR is being done in Bengal and the Election Commission and other agencies are being used. He alleged that these institutions are being used to create political pressure.

Budget that harms the economy
The Chief Minister claimed that this budget is going to destroy the country’s economy instead of strengthening it. He said that there are only announcements in the budget, but there is nothing concrete to provide relief to the general public.

Claims regarding corridor are false
Mamta Banerjee also termed the talk of building three corridors in the budget as a complete lie. He said that this is just a show and there is no clear roadmap. In the end the Chief Minister said that this budget is completely directionless. There is neither any plan for the future nor any solution to the problems of the states and the common people.
