The US Defense Department (Pentagon) has claimed in its annual report that China is trying to deploy its army closer to India. Preparations are being made to build bases for China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in four neighboring countries of India. These four countries are Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, where additional military facilities or logistics bases will be built. This will increase the strength of water, land and air forces. The army’s reach over long distances will increase and sea routes will be safe.

China trying to increase army around India

According to the Pentagon report, China already operates its only foreign military base in Djibouti and has gained access to Ream Naval Base in Cambodia. Now it is working on a plan to build such bases in about a dozen countries around the world, which include India’s neighbors. The report said that these facilities will help the PLA to extend and maintain its naval, air force and ground forces.

What is happening in India’s neighboring countries?

Pakistan: Gwadar naval base is already being built in collaboration with China. China has given a deal for 35 J-10C fighter jets to Pakistan. Hangar class submarines, warships and other jets like 5th generation FC-31 fighter jet, J-10 fighter jets have been offered. Joint manufacturing of JF-17 fighter jets is also going on.

Bangladesh: China is considering building a military base here. Bangladesh is showing interest in purchasing J-10C fighter jets. Pakistan had used them against India’s Rafale. China has given VT-5 light tanks, two Ming class submarines and two warships 2024 to Bangladesh. Military relations with China were strong since the time of Sheikh Hasina, which continues in the Yunus government also.

Sri Lanka and Myanmar: There are plans to build general military facilities or logistics bases, which will help in increasing the strength of PLA.

What is China worried about?

The report also says that China’s biggest concern is the Malacca Strait, where there is a threat of siege from the US and Indian navies. China is also concerned about the security of the Strait of Hormuz and the sea routes of Africa-Middle East. Apart from this, discussions are also being held on making bech in countries like Angola, Cuba, Guinea, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Tajikistan, Thailand, UAE and Vanuatu.

What impact will China’s actions have on India?

Pentagon says that China is countering the growing friendship between India and America by strengthening military ties with Pakistan. However, after the Modi-Xi Jinping meetings, steps like reducing tension on LAC and starting visa services have also been taken. But China is including Arunachal Pradesh in its ‘core interest’.

This report shows that America is constantly keeping an eye on China’s growing military power and global reach. China has not yet given any direct response to this report. Experts believe that these facilities are part of China’s ‘String of Pearls’ strategy, which is an attempt to create a siege around India.

It is said that only neighbors in trouble are useful, the same thing was clearly seen at the 25th SCO summit started in Tianjin, China, where Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping came face to face after years. This meeting took place after 7 years and at a time when America has increased the pressure on India to impose tariff by 50%. In such a situation, when the leaders of two big countries of Asia appeared to be standing together, the world’s eyes also stood on them.

Xi Jinping said on this occasion that India and China are counted among the oldest and largest civilized countries in the world. Both Global are an important part of South, in such a situation it is best to remain neighbor and friend. He also said that it is necessary to become friends and good neighbors and to come together with dragon and elephant. But do you know why China is called Dragon and India is called elephant? Let’s know this funny anecdote.

Why India was called an elephant?

Indeed, this symbolic comparison was first introduced by foreign media for the first time. In 2015, the New York Times during the Paris Climate Summit showed India in cartoons as a large and dull elephant, stopping the train of climate change. That is, India was described as a slow and obstructed country. At the same time, China got the image of the dragon, as the dragon is considered a symbol of power and boom in their culture.

Experts say that elephant for India began to be used more than the 1990s, when India started economic reforms, foreign magazines compared India to China. China was called a sharp and aggressive dragon, while India was sometimes said to be a dull and sometimes a lame elephant.

Canadian author David M. Malon does his book does the Elephant Dance? I wrote that India may run with slow steps, but is stable and strong like an elephant. Gradually, the word elephant became an international recognition for India.

Why did China become a dragon?

At the same time, the story of China is different. About 1800 years ago, the Han dynasty made Dragon a royal symbol. The emperor used to connect it with his strength and pride. Even today, dragon is considered a symbol of luck and prosperity in China. Whereas in the stories of Western countries, the dragon was shown as a dangerous monster.

Pandit Nehru’s animal diplomacy

India’s ties with elephants is also very old. From the seals of the Indus Valley Civilization to Lord Ganesha, the elephant has been an important part of Indian culture. After independence, Pandit Nehru also used the elephant in diplomacy. He sent elephants to the children of Canada and Japan, which was called animal diplomacy. That is, it is clear that this story of dragon and elephant is not just a symbol, but reflects the identity and thinking of both countries.

India and Russia’s relationship is decades old. Russia has been India’s largest arms exporting country. Recently, Russia presented India a deal with its fifth generation stealth fighter aircraft SU-57. Along with this, Russia has also talked about transferring source code and technology with India. However, the Indian defense expert has advised India not to buy SU-57 from Russia.

Former Indian Air Force officer Ajay Ahlawat said that India should refuse the deal of fifth generation stealth fighter jets from Russia. He said, “India should prioritize its indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program under the supervision of the Prime Minister’s Office, ignoring the import of SU-57 fighter jet from Russia.”

Defense expert SU-57 Concern expressed on Chinese goods

Apart from the SU-57 Stealth Fighter Jet of Russia, he has also described the fifth generation of F-35 fighter aircraft of America as a bad option for India. Apart from this, he has also expressed concern about the use of Chinese goods in Russia’s SU-57 fighter aircraft.

The former Indian Air Force official wrote in a post on its X account, “It would be best that we finish the import of fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA).

He further said, “Russia’s SU-57 is not actually FGFA. Apart from this, a large part of its electronics, avionics and chips comes from China. In such a situation, imagine that you are in war with your weapon seller.”

Amca Demand to declare a mission of national importance

Former Air Force Officer Ajay Ahlawat has described AMCA as the only option as practically and he has demanded to bring this program under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Apart from this, he has also demanded to declare this program a mission of national importance.
