On this, he said in a statement to PTI, “Look, they can do any supporter or party, but the collective CM candidate of India alliance is not yet decided. Now let’s see what happens next and what the party decides.” That is, Tejashwi Yadav may be RJD candidates, but no official announcement has been made at the alliance level.

Which party is the face of CM?

Both NDA and India alliance are claiming victory in Bihar elections. The talks on seat sharing are almost complete, but the situation on the post of Chief Minister is still unclear. While Nitish Kumar is being considered a face in NDA, this decision in India alliance is still pending. Udit Raj’s statement is an indication that the brainstorm is still going on regarding the leadership between the Congress and allies. It is clear from this that more interactions are needed on strategic coordination within the alliance.

When will voting be held?

This time elections will be held in two phases in Bihar. The first phase of voting will be held on 6 November and the second and final phase will be held on November 11. The results will be declared on 14 November. The enthusiasm and political stir in the entire state about these elections is fast. RJD, Congress and other parties are eyeing which party emerges with a majority and the leadership equation within the alliance finally goes in which direction.

According to the current survey, Prashant Kishore’s party is getting about 10-12% support in South Bihar (Bhojpur, Magadh, Munger, Bhagalpur), while this support is reduced to 8-10% in North Bihar (Purnia, Darbhanga, Kosi, Tirhut, Saran). This vote share keeps them in the discussion, but is much lower than 30-35% of the votes required to win a seat.

Impact of Grand Alliance vs NDA PK Factor
If you consider the last election (125 vs. 110 seats) as the basis, then this time there is no hope of major changes in the equation. Grand Alliance (RJD, Congress, etc.): Some seats in Magadh and Bhojpur may be reduced, but mild advantage in Munger and Bhagalpur is also possible. NDA (BJP-JDU) has a vote bank larger safe due to the ethnic equation (upper cast, Dalit, EBC). Overall, the biggest disadvantage can be to the Grand Alliance due to the arrival of PK. The reason is clear, whatever voter is angry with the current government, he usually goes towards the Grand Alliance, but due to PK, this vote can be distributed.

Seat equation and role of gardens
Prashant Kishore’s fate will depend to a large extent on how many strong rebel candidates they get from big parties (BJP, JDU, RJD, Congress). If a core voter comes with a rebel PK with a community (eg EBC, Brahmin, Rajput or Mahadalit), then the loss of NDA is also possible, but if we see the net effect, the Grand Alliance will get more shock.

What has changed in the caste equation?
Ethnic equations are always important in elections. In the current picture, the Muslim-Yadav (My vote bank) remains strong with the grand alliance. Upper cast, Dalit, EBC is largely with NDA. Koyri/Kushwaha society may break down a little bit. If the Grand Alliance takes the right candidate, then some part of this class can come towards them.

Mallikarjun kharge: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called on the party’s district unit heads to unite with a long -term strategy to win elections in states on Thursday (March 27, 2025). Addressing the meeting of the presidents of the District Congress Committees (DCC), Kharge said that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the parties of the ‘India’ coalition fought unitedly against the BJP and its allies, making the BJP limited to 240 seats. He said that if the Congress got 20-30 seats, then an alternative government would have been formed. The meeting of DCC presidents is being held in different stages in three days. DCC chiefs of 13 states and three union territories attended today’s meeting.

Kharge told DCC chiefs at the Congress headquarters ‘Indira Bhavan’, “Our ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign has highlighted the secret intent of BJP-RSS to change the Constitution. The Congress President said, “The Congress party won about 100 seats. If we had worked hard, we could have secured 20-30 seats. By securing so much seat, an alternative government could have been formed in the country. If we had done this, we could have stopped the systematic attack on our independent institutions, democracy and constitution.

Bihar Politics: Before the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, the Congress has formally decided to contest elections under the ‘India’ alliance. The decision was taken in a high level meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday (March 25) under the chairmanship of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, prominent leader of Bihar Congress and other national officials were present in the meeting. The main objective of this meeting was to clarify the status of the alliance in Bihar and decide the strategy of the upcoming election.

After the meeting, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar addressed the media and confirmed the party’s decision. He said, ‘The Congress will contest elections completely with the India alliance in Bihar. Our main goal is to defeat the BJP -led alliance. The BJP is our biggest political rival in Bihar and we will put full strength to defeat it. He also clarified that the grand alliance in Bihar is completely united and there is no confusion or differences like other states. The Congress believes that to exclude BJP in Bihar, all opposition parties will have to form a strong strategy together.

Discussion on seat sharing and Chief Minister’s post continues to continue

When he was questioned about the seat sharing, Rajesh Kumar said that it is too early to discuss it. He said, ‘When the election comes close, the leaders of the coalition will jointly formulate a concrete strategy and a final decision will be taken on the seat sharing.’

At the same time, when the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) questioned Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Grand Alliance was questioned, the Congress leaders indicated that the final decision will be taken only after discussion among all the coalition partners. Kapil Sibbal on India Alliance: Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal has given his opinion about the opposition alliance ‘India’. He believes that this alliance should publicly look ‘united’ and not scattered as it still appears. He emphasized that the parties involved in the coalition need united policy, ideological structure and future programs.

Kapil Sibal has advocated a formal structure for the opposition alliance. He said that this alliance should have a consistent policy, ideological structure and a clear program. Without this, he cannot effectively decide his political direction. Sibal also said that there is a need to appoint spokespersons to present the ideas of the coalition properly.

The Rajya Sabha member also said that there were differences between ‘India’ allies in the recent state assembly elections. He emphasized the need for uniformity of ideas at the national level and said that without a clear structure, this alliance would not be able to fully implement its strength.

Sibal’s statement on Waqf Bill

Sibal commented on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which could be presented in the current budget session. He said that it should be seen what steps do the NDA coalition partners take in this matter because the BJP does not have a majority. Sibal indicated that the BJP can be active about this bill in view of the elections in Bihar.

Kapil Sibal also expressed concern over the delimitation issue which holds serious implications for the politics of the country. He said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called a meeting on this and united the leaders of many parties. According to Sibal, this issue can become a challenge for opposition parties and a shared stance is necessary to solve it.
