The politics of Middle East and South Asia once again seems to be moving towards major changes. Talks were going on between Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia regarding a triangular military alliance, which has now reached a crucial point. According to Eurasiantime reports, if this alliance takes formal form, it can completely change the balance of power among the regional powers. Many defense experts are informally calling it Islamic NATO.

The foundation of this alliance was laid in September 2025, when the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement was signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The basic principle of this agreement is that if there is an attack on any one country, it will be considered an attack on all the partner countries. This arrangement is very similar to the famous Article-5 of NATO. Now the possibility of Turkey joining this agreement has made regional politics more complicated.

Why the strengths of the three countries can become a game changer

If Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia come together then this alliance will be considered effective for many reasons. Saudi Arabia has immense economic resources, Pakistan has a large army and air force with nuclear weapons, while Turkey, being a key member of NATO, has a modern defense industry and real combat experience. Experts believe that the combined capability of these three can impact the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.

Strategic concerns of which countries may increase?

It is natural that this possible alliance will increase the concern of countries like India, Israel, Greece, Cyprus and Armenia. The already strong military cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan and the financial power of Saudi Arabia can create a block that can challenge many existing equations.

During this period, the defense and security partnership between India and Israel becomes more important. Even though the two countries have different viewpoints on some diplomatic issues, military cooperation has been extremely strong and reliable. India has become Israel’s biggest defense partner and in recent years the relationship between the two countries has not been limited to just arms purchases.

India has acquired missile systems, drones, radar and electronic warfare technology from Israel on a large scale. Recently, India has approved defense purchases worth $ 8.7 billion from Israel, including SPICE missiles. Between 2020-24, 34 percent of Israel’s total defense exports have been sent to India. Along with this, work is also going on at a rapid pace on joint manufacturing and technology transfer under Make in India and Self-reliant India.

Why is Israel’s defense industry special?

Despite being a small country, Israel’s defense industry is considered to be the most advanced in the world. In the fields of missile defense, drone technology, cyber security and laser weapons, Israel has developed capabilities which are considered standards at the global level. This is why India sees Israel not just as an arms supplier but as a strategic partner.

From Kargil war to Balakot and Operation Sindoor, Israel has given no-questions-asked support to India. Cooperation between special forces, cyber units and intelligence agencies of the two countries has continuously deepened. In the coming time, this partnership may extend to artificial intelligence, laser defense and hypersonic technology.

India is pursuing its diplomacy in a balanced manner amidst the possible alliance of Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Relations with Israel, Greece and Cyprus are being strengthened, while economic and technical cooperation with the US and UAE is being given a new direction through platforms like I2U2. India aims to further strengthen its position in the changing global politics through security, technology and strategic partnerships.

The Indian Air Force is now going to further strengthen its air security from Israeli’s advanced decoy system to save Rafale fighter jets from enemy missiles. According to sources, India has intensified efforts for the earliest supply of Israeli X-Guard Fiber-Optic Towed Decoy System.

What is this decoy system?

This system named X-Guard Towed Decoy has been created by the Israeli company. When an enemy attacks the missile aircraft, the dicky shows itself like a real aircraft, making the missile aiming the dicky instead of the real aircraft.

This system is connected to a cable behind the aircraft and is activated during the flight. When the mission is complete, it is pulled back into the aircraft.

Test has been done twice

India also tested this system in its Rafale Jet in 2019 and 2023. But the delivery is delayed due to tension in West Asia and interruption in supply chains. Now India wants it to be achieved as soon as possible.

Preparations to increase security after Operation Sindoor

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, India ran Operation Vermation on 7 May. After this, India has started further strengthening its Air Force. Many more advanced features are being added to Rafale aircraft, such as displays on helmets, enemies identified with sensors and ability to fly from high hilly areas.

The decoy system is a reliable way to avoid enemy missiles. With this, Rafale aircraft can also fly safely on dangerous missions. India now wants to further strengthen its Air Force with such a modern system.
