Pakistani tourist in india: There are many crazy about the beauty of India and the tourist destinations here. Tourists come from all the countries of the world throughout the year. Of these, people used to come and go from neighboring Pakistan too.

According to data presented by the Ministry of Tourism in the Rajya Sabha, a total of 26,625 Pakistanis visited India in 2024, which is the highest since 2022. During this time, 30,620 Indians also went on a journey to Pakistan. Subsequently, in April 2025, the relationship between the two countries soured between the terrorist attacks on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

India retaliated immediately

26 tourists were shot dead by terrorists in Pahalgam. After this, India immediately retaliated and canceled the visas for Pakistan citizens with immediate effect. All the current Indian visas issued to Pakistani citizens were canceled from April 27, 2025.

Pakistan also canceled visas issued to Indians. According to the official website of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan, people wishing to come to India were given visas in 10 categories- including assignments, business, conference, journalism, medical, official, pilgrims, students, transit and visitors.

At the same time, Pakistan had offered visas for travel, trade, conference, pilgrimage and diplomatic works for Indians. Apart from these, visas were also issued to students, journalists and individuals working with United Nations or other international organizations. Statistics show that after 2019, 2024 was the second time when the number of Indians going to Pakistan was more than Pakistanis coming to India. Meanwhile, the figures of 2020 and 2021 were not stated as the tourism was hindered due to Korona epidemic during this period.

In the year 2024, more than 18 lakh American tourists also came to India. That is, on an average, about 4,944 American tourists arrived in India every day. Apart from the US and Bangladesh, people from the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada also came to India on a large scale. In 2019, more than 25.77 lakh Bangladeshi came to India. In 2024, this number decreased to 17.50 lakhs.

At the same time, their number increased to 18.04 lakhs in 2024 as compared to 15.12 lakh American tourists who came to India in 2019. During this period, only 22,295 came from Britain’s number of tourists.
