The Delhi High Court on Monday (October 6) sought a response from the central government on the petition of a Pakistani woman. This woman wants a visa to live with her Indian husband. The bench of Justice Sachin Dutta issued a notice. The center was asked to file an affidavit. The court fixed the hearing for 12 November.

The case filed in the Delhi High Court is of a Pakistani woman named Rukaiya Obaid, who married Ubabad Abdul Barkat Farooqui, a resident of Delhi in November 2024 in Pakistan. After marriage, she came to India in April 2025 with her husband and applied for long term visas on 18 April. After the Pahalgam terror attack on 25 April, the Government of India suspended the visa of Pakistani citizens and canceled the visa issued.

Forced to leave India on 28 April

In the application filed in the Delhi High Court, Rukaiya alleges that he sought permission to stay in the country from the Forense Regional Registration Office in Delhi but was forced to leave India on April 28 by issuing exit permits.

Appeal for justice from Delhi High Court

The lawyer appearing in the court on behalf of the woman told the court that on April 29, the day she went from India, there were reports that the Pakistani citizens whose long -term visa applications are pending do not need to leave the country. On this basis, many Pakistani women who have married Indian men are living in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Rukaiya has appealed to the Delhi High Court to give justice as other Pakistani wives. The High Court will now hear this on 12 November.
