In the Lord’s Test, the England team selected the first batting. In the second session of the first day, Rishabh Pant suffered a finger injury while holding the ball. He was seen groaning in pain on the field, after which he went out of the field, Dhruv Jurlel replaced him for wicketkeeping for Team India. On the other hand, Shubman Gill also left the field in the middle match and went out. The reason why Shubman Gill went out of the ground has not been revealed. In the absence of Gill and Pant, KL Rahul was seen captaining the Indian team.

Rahul has been the vice -captain of the Indian team, but was removed from the post after the series against Australia in 2023. At the same time, Rahul has not played any T20 matches after the 2022 T20 World Cup. After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s Test retirement, KL Rahul along with Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken over the opening in the Indian Test team. KL Rahul has so far scored a total of 236 runs in four innings in the current series, including a century and a fifty. Rahul has also scored a century and a half-century in this series.
