By the end of the fourth day in the Delhi Test, the Indian team has scored 63 runs at the loss of one wicket. Team India still has to score 58 more runs to win. KL Rahul and SAI Sudarshan are at the crease till stumps on the fourth day. On the fourth day, West Indies’ second innings was reduced to 390 runs, while on the basis of lead in the first innings, Team India got the target of 121 runs.

On the fourth day, West Indies increased their score to 170/2. Shay Hope and John Campbell had made a third partnership of 135 runs. Even on the fourth day, both of them took the innings forward in a composed manner. Shay Hope scored the third century of his Test career. On the other hand, John Campbell scored 115 runs. Campbell and Hope made a partnership of 177 runs to save West Indies from innings defeat. When Hope was out after scoring 103 runs, West Indies had lost the fourth wicket at the score of 271. After that the fall of wickets started, as West Indies lost the next 5 wickets within the next 40 runs.

For the 10th wicket, Jaden Seals and Justin Greaves made a partnership of 79 runs to take the team to the score of 390. Jasprit Bumrah shook the lower order batsmen of West Indies on the fourth day. Bumrah dismissed the last 3 batsmen of West Indies.

India has a target of 121

The Indian team had given follow-on to West Indies. Due to the lead, the Indian team got the target of 121 runs. In the second innings, when Yashasvi Jaiswal came to bat, due to playing fast, he was out after scoring only 8 runs. On the fourth day, India lost only the wicket of Jaiswal. KL Rahul has scored 25 runs and Sudarshan is currently playing with 30 runs. On the fifth day, Team India will have to score only 58 more runs to win.

The second test between India and West Indies is being played in Delhi. Team India had declared its first innings at 518 runs, in response to which West Indies had scored 140 runs at the loss of 2 wickets by the end of the second day’s play. What is follow on?

If in a test match the team batting first gets a lead of 200 or more runs over the team batting second in the second innings. In such a situation, the team which batted first can immediately ask the other team to bat again.

If we take an example, India declared its first innings at 518 runs in the Delhi Test. In such a situation, if West Indies wants to save follow-on, they will have to score at least 319 runs in the first innings. Since West Indies has scored 140 runs in the first innings. Therefore, on the third day he still has to score 179 more runs to save the follow-on.

So will Team India win?

Now the question is that if West Indies is not able to score the remaining 179 runs on the third day, will Team India win the second test? No, if West Indies is not able to reach the total score of 319 in the first innings, then the Indian team can ask West Indies to bat again keeping in mind the intention of winning the innings. Giving follow-on to a team is optional. Therefore, in case of not being able to save the follow-on, West Indies will have to bat again only when Team India asks them to do so or not.
