The Defense Ministry has approved the purchase of additional batteries of S-400 air defense system from Russia for the Indian Air Force. An important meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) of the Defense Ministry was held today, in which this proposal was given the green signal by the Defense Ministry.

In the important meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (March 27, 2026), proposals for the purchase of various types of weapons and aircraft worth about Rs 2.38 lakh crore have been approved.

Apart from S-400, what other weapons will the Air Force get?

In the DAC meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also approved the proposals for overhaul of medium transport aircraft, remotely piloted strike aircraft and Su-30 aero engine aggregates besides the S-400 long-range surface-to-air missile system from Russia for the Indian Air Force.

Medium transport aircraft will be included in the Indian Air Force in place of the fleet of AN-32 and IL-76. With this, the strategic, tactical and operational airlift needs of the Air Force will be met. Whereas remotely piloted aircraft will increase the capability to carry out co-ordinated air operations along with offensive counter-action. Along with this, this aircraft will also provide great support to stealth intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance activities.

These weapons got approval for Indian Army

Along with the Indian Air Force, the purchase of many weapons has also been approved in this meeting keeping in mind the needs of the Indian Army. In the meeting, Air Defense Tracked System, Armour-piercing Tank Ammunition, High Capacity Radio Relay, Dhanush Gun System and Runway Independent Aerial Surveillance System have been approved for the Indian Army.

The Air Defense Tracked System will provide real-time air defense control and reporting capability to the Indian Army, while the high capacity radio relay will ensure reliable and uninterrupted communications. With this, the Dhanush gun system will increase the artillery capability of the army, so that the Indian Army will be able to hit its targets with complete accuracy at long ranges in all types of terrains.

Indian Coast Guard will get heavy duty air cushion vehicles

Apart from this, DAC has also approved the procurement of Heavy Duty Air Cushion Vehicles for the Indian Coast Guard. These vehicles will be used in multi-purpose maritime operations, which will include high-speed coastal patrolling, reconnaissance and rescue operations, support to ships and transportation of logistics along with personnel.

The Indian Coast Guard has seized a Pakistani boat illegally entering Indian territorial waters. There were 9 people in this boat. This information has been given by the officials. Their pictures have also been shared by the Coast Guard. The action was taken on 14 January 2026 during patrolling in the Arabian Sea.

Pakistanis were trying to enter India through darkness

Indian Coast Guard said that the operation was carried out in a quick and precise night. During patrolling in the Arabian Sea, the ship sighted a fishing boat inside Indian waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line. This boat had come from Pakistan. When he was challenged on seeing the boat, he tried to flee towards Pakistan. However, the ICG ship surrounded them and captured their boat. A total of 9 people were involved in this Pakistani boat Alamdina.

‘Brought to Porbandar, Gujarat, will be strictly interrogated’
The Coast Guard said, ‘In this case, the boat has been brought to Porbandar by ICG ship for thorough investigation and joint interrogation by the agencies. This operation reaffirms the ICG’s unwavering commitment to secure India’s maritime borders through relentless surveillance and law enforcement in the country’s maritime domain.

Why did Pakistanis come so deep into the Indian border?
The investigation will find out why these people had come so deep into the Indian border. Is this just a matter related to fishing, or was their aim to supply narcotics through boats? Often Pakistani smugglers bring packets of narcotics hidden under fishing nets, these are used to spread narco terrorism.
