Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour of New Zealand these days. During this, he addressed the people of the Indian community living there and shared an emotional experience related to his life. Prime Minister Modi said that he got the opportunity to visit New Zealand about 25 to 30 years ago. At that time he was not a part of any government and very few people knew him even in public life. He said that his life at that time was completely different from what it is today, but he still remembers the love he received from the people of New Zealand.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi told that during that visit a person had gifted him three things. He said that one of those gifts he has brought with him to this program. Showing his muffler to the people from the stage, the Prime Minister said that this is the same muffler which was given to him as a gift by a person in New Zealand 25-30 years ago. He told that even after so many years he has kept this muffler safely. Apart from this, he also received cap and gloves as gifts, because it was cold weather there.

What did PM Modi say about muffler?

PM Modi said that he takes care of this muffler as much as he takes care of the love and affection of the Indians living in New Zealand and its people. He said that the value of a gift is not determined by its financial value, but by the emotions and relationships associated with it. Hearing this emotional story of the Prime Minister, the people of the Indian community present at the program welcomed him with applause. He said that this love and affection that he got years ago is still present in his heart in the same way.

India-New Zealand relations

This statement of PM Modi is being considered a symbol of the long-standing people-to-people ties and emotional bond between India and New Zealand. He said that the affection of the people of New Zealand and the support of the Indian community has always been special to him and he can never forget it.

US Green Card Rules: Big news has come for thousands of Indians waiting for permanent citizenship i.e. green card in America. The Donald Trump administration on Friday announced the implementation of a new rule, under which immigrants applying for a green card will now have to leave the US and return to their country and complete the application process from there.

Till now, many people used to apply for Green Card through the “Adjustment of Status” process while living in America, but after the new rule, it will not be easy to do so.

USCIS issued new guidelines

In the new guideline issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), it has been said that people wishing to get a Green Card will no longer be able to apply normally while living in America. They will have to return to their home country and apply through the US Embassy or Consulate.

Green card is an official identity card, which gives a foreign citizen the right to live permanently in America. Green card holders can live anywhere in America, work in most companies, study and can move in and out of America under the rules. Later he can also apply for American citizenship.

“Now you will have to apply after returning home.”

USCIS spokesman Jack Kahler said, “From now on, anyone living temporarily in the United States who wants a green card will have to return to their home country and apply. Exemptions will be granted only in exceptional circumstances.” He said that this step has been taken to implement the basic objective of the law so that people follow the American immigration system properly.

Impact on students and H-1B visa holders

This decision may have the biggest impact on international students, professionals working on H-1B visas and people living in America on tourist visas. These people were hoping to get permanent citizenship without leaving America. Kahler said, “We are eliminating the loopholes in America’s immigration system. The system will no longer be allowed to be abused.”

Investigation will be done on case to case basis

According to the new policy memo, now getting a green card through “Adjustment of Status” while staying inside America will be considered an extraordinary relief. Immigration officers will investigate such cases on different basis. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a social media post, “People who have come to the US temporarily and want a green card, they will have to return to their country and apply. This policy is designed to keep the immigration system running according to the law. The era of abuse of the system is now over.”

USCIS explained the reason for the change

USCIS says that this new rule will reduce the incidents of illegal stay in America after the visa period is over. Besides, the problem of people going missing after the green card application is rejected will also be stopped. “Nonimmigrants such as students, temporary workers, and tourists come to the United States for limited periods of time and for specific purposes. Their travel should not serve as the first step in the green card process,” the agency said.

Large number of Indians may be affected

In the financial year 2024, about 49,700 people of Indian origin had acquired American citizenship through the Green Card process. In this case, Indians were the second largest group after Mexicans. The share of Indians among the total recipients of American citizenship was 6.1 percent.

Destruction in North Israel, pressure on the army and exhausting wars…time for ouster from power, countdown begins for Benjamin Netanyahu

USCIS enumerated the benefits

The US administration says that sending the green card application process to US embassies abroad will reduce the pressure on USCIS resources. This will allow the agency to pay more attention to citizenship applications, visa applications from victims of violent crime and cases related to human trafficking.

India Tops in Global Remittance List: India has once again been on top in terms of receiving money from abroad. According to the latest report for the year 2024, India has stood first in the global remittance list. According to World Bank estimates, India will receive more than $137 billion in remittances from NRIs in 2024. Which is much more than last year 2023.

India dominates the report
After the arrival of this new report, India has become the only country which has crossed the 100 billion dollar mark.
There has been an increase compared to previous years
India’s remittances from abroad have been continuously increasing over the years; in 2010, this figure was 53.48 billion dollars, which increased to 68.91 billion dollars in 2015. After this, in the year 2020 this figure increased to 83.15 billion dollars and now in 2024 this figure has become 137.67 billion dollars.

The biggest contribution came from Indians settled in America
The biggest contribution to the remittances received by India is from Indians settled in America. Apart from this, a large amount of money also comes to India from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Indians working in IT, health services and other sectors and living in America send the maximum amount of money to India. It is because of this that this increase has occurred.

A life-size bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda has been unveiled in Westlake Square, located in the heart of Seattle, America. This is the first time that a city government in America has officially installed such a statue of Swami Vivekananda. On this historic occasion, it was jointly inaugurated by Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Consul General of India Prakash Gupta.

For the first time in America, the city government installed Vivekananda’s statue.
This statue is the first installation of its kind in America, which has been installed by a city government. Earlier, statues of Swami Vivekananda had been installed by different organizations or communities, but this time this work has been done directly by the city administration.

Established in Seattle’s busiest and most prominent location
This statue has been installed in Westlake Square, which is a very famous and busy area of Seattle city. About 4 lakh people come here every day and lakhs of tourists reach this place every month. This place is located near Amazon Spheres, Seattle Convention Center and Seattle Center Monorail, which increases its importance even more.

Many big leaders attended the grand ceremony
Mayors and senior leaders of Seattle and many surrounding cities attended the unveiling ceremony of this statue. These included Kent Mayor Dana Ralph, Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus, Tukwila Mayor Tom McLeod, Normandie Park Mayor Eric Zimmerman and Kirkland Mayor Kelly Curtis. Apart from this, many leaders of Indian origin community and city council members of Bellevue, Bothell, Dupont and Redmond were also present in this program.

Mayor Katie Wilson said- this is a symbol of inclusivity

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said in her speech that this statue of Swami Vivekananda reflects the diversity and inclusive thinking of the city. He said that this will further strengthen the cultural ties between India and America, especially in the technology hub Seattle.

Special gift given from India
This statue has been given as a gift to the city of Seattle by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The move is part of India’s cultural diplomacy, which aims to promote Indian culture across the world and strengthen people-to-people ties. This program was organized on the occasion of ICCR Day, which makes this initiative more special. Swami Vivekananda was a great saint, philosopher and spiritual guru, who popularized Vedanta and Yoga in western countries. His life (1863–1902) is considered a symbol of India’s spiritual heritage.

Indian artist created this grand statue

This statue has been prepared by India’s famous sculptor Naresh Kumar Kumawat. He has created more than 600 statues in more than 80 countries of the world, which represent Indian culture. Indian cultural dance programs were also organized on this occasion, in which a large number of people participated. Messages related to Swami Vivekananda were also given to the people present at the function and souvenirs were also distributed.

India-US relations will get a new dimension
The installation of this statue is being seen as increasing cultural relations between India and America. Especially in the Pacific Northwest region of America, this step will further strengthen the bond between people.

The day recorded in history is 11 April 2026
This event held in Seattle on April 11, 2026 has become historic. This is not just the unveiling of a statue, but has emerged as a symbol of India’s cultural identity and global influence.

The reason behind the strength of India’s economy is not just the factories, farms or startups, but also the crores of Indians living in different corners of the world. What these people earn while living abroad directly impacts the pockets of India. Sometimes the money was sent for family expenses, and sometimes the money came in the form of big investments – this is the reason why India today is able to maintain balance even amidst economic shocks. After all, how big is the role of NRIs in the country’s GDP? Let us find out.

Strong relationship between NRI and Indian economy

Non-Resident Indians i.e. NRIs are not only an emotional bond for India, but are also an economic force. Indians working abroad send large amounts of money to India every year. This is called remittance. This remittance strengthens India’s foreign exchange reserves and plays an important role in maintaining the economic stability of the country.

How does remittance strengthen GDP?

India is among those countries in the world which receive the highest remittances. According to various international reports, remittances sent by NRIs contribute about 3% of India’s GDP. This amount directly increases the income of the families. This increases expenditure in households, creates demand in the market and gives impetus to business.

Domestic consumption gets direct benefit

When money comes to India from abroad, it is used for education, health, building houses, buying cars and daily needs. Real estate, automobile, consumer goods and service sectors get direct benefits from this. This domestic consumption gives a strong base to GDP.

New opportunities are created through investment

NRIs are not limited to just sending money. They also invest in real estate, stock market, infrastructure and startups in India. Especially in the technology and startup sectors, the role of NRI investors has increased rapidly. This not only brings capital but also creates new jobs.

Role of NRI in employment generation

Many new companies and projects are started with the investment made by NRIs. This creates jobs in sectors like IT, service, manufacturing and construction. Many times, Indians who have gained experience abroad come back and start their own business, which increases employment opportunities at the local level.

Foreign exchange reserves and economic security

India’s foreign exchange reserves remain strong due to remittances and NRI investments. This reserve supports India in times of global recession, rising oil prices or international crisis. Economists believe that this is the reason why India has been able to withstand global shocks relatively better many times.

advantage of knowledge and skills

Along with money, NRIs also bring their experience and skills to India. Especially in the IT, healthcare and management sectors, returning NRIs bring new technology and modern thinking. This improves the working style and competitiveness of Indian companies.

If you are sitting comfortably at your home and suddenly come to know that you have become a billionaire, it would seem like a dream, but for an Indian man living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), this dream became a reality. The fortunes of this person of Indian origin named Anilkumar Bola took such a turn overnight that in the blink of an eye he became not a millionaire but a billionaire.

29-year-old Anilkumar Bola, who has been living in Abu Dhabi for a long time, has won a historic jackpot of 100 million dirhams (about Rs 240 crore) in the UAE Lucky Day Draw Lottery. This is said to be the biggest prize money of UAE till date. The lottery organizers officially declared Anilkumar the winner of the draw, which made headlines across the country.

Call came from lottery team

According to the report of Khaleej Times, this lucky draw was held on Saturday, October 18. Anilkumar was resting at his home at the time of the draw when he got a call from the UAE lottery team. Initially he could not believe that he had become the winner of such a big prize.

What did Anilkumar say on winning the lottery?

Anilkumar told the media, “When I got the call, I thought someone was joking. I asked him to repeat the news several times. When I understood the truth, I could not express it in words. This victory is beyond my dreams. It is still difficult to believe that all this has happened to me.”

 Anilkumar is from India

Anilkumar is originally from India and has been living and working in Abu Dhabi for many years. According to him, he often bought lottery tickets but never thought that he would win such a huge amount. He said that he wants to use this amount to secure the future of his family and help the needy people of the society. The lottery system is very popular in UAE, where thousands of expatriates try their luck every year, but Anilkumar’s win once again proved that sometimes luck changes life in an instant.

NRI Village: The rural landscape of India is very large. It derives most of its cultural identity and historical richness from its villages. From traditional customs to age-old practices, you will find everything in the villages of India. But today we are going to talk about a village which is also known as NRI village. So let us know.

What does NRI mean?

In fact, to understand the distinct identity of this village, it is very important to first know what NRI means. NRI refers to a non-resident Indian. It means a person who is originally from India, but usually stays abroad for more than 182 days due to employment, business or other personal reasons. Many NRIs also acquire foreign citizenship while maintaining strong ties with their motherland.

Where is NRI village?

This NRI village is situated in Anand district of Gujarat. This place is famous not for its agricultural production and historical sites but for its demographic structure. Almost every household here has at least one member living abroad.

Why is it called NRI village?

The reason behind this is quite clear that at least one member of every family in this village lives abroad. A large part of these residents live in London and different parts of the United States while the rest have settled in European countries. This village got this name because of this global migration.

symbol of global connectivity

The village represents a fascinating blend of rural India and international influences. Despite living abroad, NRIs maintain strong ties with their native villages and contribute economically and socially. Infrastructure, education and community development here are often done with investment from these foreign residents. While the villages of India are often known for their traditional lifestyle and cultural heritage, this NRI village of Gujarat is famous for its distinct identity. The residents here maintain a unique balance between rural roots and international contacts.

US President Donald Trump recently made a positive comment on Indo-US relations, saying that he would always be a friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India is a special partner for America. Apart from this, he also said that I do not like what he is doing at this time. His gesture was towards improving India’s current relations with China and buying oil from Russia.

Reacting to US President Donald Trump’s statement, PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X (Twitter) that he appreciates Trump’s feelings and positive evaluation of Indo-US relations. He described the partnership between the two countries as a comprehensive and visionary strategic partnership.

What did experts say on Trump’s statement?

Wiles at West Asia’s strategist Vile topped says that America cannot ignore India. According to him, there are many major reasons behind this. He said that Trump and Modi have good relationships on a personal level. There is a large population of Indians in America, which is important for American economy and trade. Apart from this, when the US President makes positive comments on India, it is not only a message for the Government of India but also for the overseas Indians. The topper believes that Trump businessmen also take decisions with thinking, so it is necessary that Indian companies get a way to export without tariffs and troubles in America.

Need to be careful with Trump: Expert

Wile topic warned that even though the statement is positive, there is a need to be cautious. Trump has issued executive orders on tariffs and imports related to India. These orders cannot be easily withdrawn, unless there are strong evidence or reasons behind it, so Indian companies and the government have to ensure that talks with the US on business issues are balanced and positive.

What did US President Donald Trump say?

US President Donald Trump while answering ANI’s question said that I will always be a friend of Modi. He is a great Prime Minister. However, Trump further said that I do not like what he is doing at this time. His reference was about the purchase of oil and weapons from Russia. He further said about the tariff controversy that there is a special relationship between India and America. There is nothing to worry about in this. Sometimes such moments come.
