These days, the havoc of winter and dense fog is troubling North India a lot....

These days, the havoc of winter and dense fog is troubling North India a lot. Due to fog, distance is not visible, due to which many trains are continuously running late. At the same time, passengers also have to wait a long time at the station. To deal with this problem, Jammu Division of Northern Railway has taken a big step. Scratch rack i.e. additional rack has been arranged here, so that the passengers do not face any problem.

What is a scratch rack?

The scratch rack is a complete set (rack) of the train, which is always kept ready. If a train is delayed by at least 7 hours or more due to fog, then a new train can be run in its place from this additional rack. This does not disturb the timing of the original train and helps the passengers to travel on time.

New system implemented in these trains

Train No. 12414: Jammutawi to Ajmer trains

Train No. 22478/22477: Train from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi and back to Katra

Why was the decision taken on these trains only?

Let us tell you that the demand for both these trains is very high. In such a situation, passengers face a lot of problems due to their delay. Now, if these trains get delayed due to fog, scratch racks will be used immediately in their place. With this the train will be able to leave the station at the right time.

Railways gave this information

According to the information, this decision has been taken on the instructions of Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu Division, Vivek Kumar. At the same time, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Apushi Singhal and Senior Divisional Operations Manager also cooperated in this. According to Apni Singhal, fog is the biggest reason for delay of trains in winter. With this scratch rack system, passengers will be able to travel comfortably and on time. He said that trains often get late due to fog, but now with the help of additional racks we will be able to run the trains on time. This is a very good step for the passengers. This will not only save time, but will also help in handling the increasing number of passengers in a better way in future.

Politics has intensified over the decision of Railways to increase passenger fares. Opposition parties have...

Politics has intensified over the decision of Railways to increase passenger fares. Opposition parties have termed it as a step that will increase inflation and a burden on the common man. Whereas BJP has called it a necessary and very minor increase. After the reactions of the spokespersons of SP, Congress and BJP came to light, the debate on the decision of the Railways has started.

Regarding the increase in rail fare, Congress State President Ajay Rai, while talking to ABP News, said that good days have come. Under his rule, the prices of any essential commodity or related system have only increased, not decreased. This was the promise of good days. The poor man is troubled today and this government is giving relief to the people in this way.

Forget air travel, now even rail travel is difficult – Fakhrul Hasan Chand

SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand said that BJP had promised that anyone wearing slippers will also travel by plane. But now the situation is such that leave alone air travel, even train travel is becoming expensive. He said that due to the government’s policies, air fares have already skyrocketed and now additional burden is being put on the poor and middle class by increasing railway fares. The person traveling by train is a common citizen, but he is being hit by increasing taxes and fares.

The government took full care of the poor and middle class – Rakesh Kumar Tripathi

Whereas BJP spokesperson Rakesh Kumar Tripathi rejected the allegations of the opposition and said that railway fares had not increased for a long time. Whereas the facilities provided to the passengers have continuously increased. He said that this increase is very minor and the government has taken full care that it does not have much impact on the poor and middle class.

Fare increased by 2 paisa per kilometer in AC class

According to the information released by the Railways, if you travel in ordinary class for a distance of more than 215 kilometers, now you will have to pay 1 paise more per kilometer. Whereas in non-AC category of mail and express trains, there has been an increase of 2 paise per kilometer. The fare in AC class has also been increased by 2 paise per kilometer. However, it is a matter of relief that there will be no increase in fare for journeys up to 215 kilometers in ordinary class. For example, on non-AC journey of 500 km, passengers will now have to pay approximately Rs 10 extra.

Expenditure on pension reached Rs 60,000 crore

Railways says that this new fare structure is expected to generate additional income of about Rs 600 crore in the current financial year. Railways has cited rising costs as the reason behind increasing the fare. According to the department, the human resource cost of Railways has increased to Rs 1,15,000 crore. Whereas the expenditure on pension has reached Rs 60,000 crore. The total operating cost of Railways in the year 2024-25 is estimated to be Rs 2,63,000 crore. For this reason, change in the fare structure has been said to be necessary.

Indian Railways has taken a big step forward towards running the country’s first hydrogen-powered train....

Indian Railways has taken a big step forward towards running the country’s first hydrogen-powered train. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha that the construction of the country’s first hydrogen train-set has been completed. This train set has been developed as per the standards set by Research, Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). Now, to supply the hydrogen required for the operation of the train, a green hydrogen production plant based on electrolysis process is also being established in Jind, Haryana.

The Railway Minister has said that this hydrogen train set is the longest and most powerful hydrogen train-set. Also, this train-set has been completely indigenously designed and developed, which also shows the commitment of Indian Railways towards self-reliant India.

World’s longest and most powerful hydrogen train

According to the Railway Minister, the country’s first hydrogen train-set is the world’s longest (10 coaches) and most powerful (2400 kW) hydrogen train-set running on broad gauge. This train-set consists of two Driving Power Cars (DPC) with a capacity of 1200 kW per power car i.e. 2400 kW in total.

8 passenger coaches installed in hydrogen train

Eight passenger coaches have been installed in the hydrogen train set. Environment friendly technology has been used. This hydrogen-powered train set produces zero carbon dioxide emissions and its only emission is water vapour. This next generation railway fuel technology is a big leap for Indian Railways in the development of clean, green and alternative fuel based technology.

The Railway Minister has said in reply that this is the first effort of Indian Railways from the first phase of the project to prototype construction and development of hydrogen traction technology. Since it is still a pilot project, it is not right to compare its cost with the existing conventional traction systems.

After the cancellation of flights of IndiGo and many other airlines across the country, lakhs...

After the cancellation of flights of IndiGo and many other airlines across the country, lakhs of passengers suddenly flocked to the Railways. In view of the increasing crowd and huge demand for tickets, Indian Railways has taken immediate action. From December 6, 2025, Railways has implemented the decision to install additional coaches and run additional trips on many routes. Due to this, passengers have started getting huge relief.

The biggest impact of flight cancellations was seen in South India, where the Railways made special preparations to increase capacity. Southern Railway has installed new coaches in 18 trains. Additional seats were made available to passengers by increasing the number of sleeper and chair cars on many popular routes. Due to this, travel to cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore and Thiruvananthapuram has started becoming smooth again.

Northern Railway reduces congestion on Delhi route

Due to the highest number of passengers traveling to and from Delhi, Northern Railway installed additional AC and chair cars in 8 main trains. This change has been implemented with immediate effect. Due to this, passengers of Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are getting special relief.

Big initiative of Western Railway on Delhi-Mumbai route

Due to cancellation of flights, travel between Delhi and Mumbai had become very difficult. Keeping this in view, Western Railways has added 3AC and 2AC coaches in 4 major trains. After the implementation of the new system from December 6, thousands of passengers have started getting seats on this busy route.

Relief on Bihar-Delhi route too, ECR increased AC seats

East Central Railway has taken special steps for the passengers going from Patna to Delhi. Five additional trips are being run in Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express from 6 to 10 December. Along with this, the number of 2AC coaches in the train has also been increased, due to which the pressure on the seats on Patna-Delhi route has been reduced the most.

East Coast, Eastern and NFR also increased capacity

For passengers going from Odisha to Delhi, East Coast Railway has added 2AC coaches in trains number 20817, 20811 and 20823 in 5 trips. On the other hand, Eastern Railway has increased sleeper coaches in three main trains on 7th and 8th December. For North-East passengers, Northeast Frontier Railway has made a big increase in 3AC and sleeper seats with eight additional trips between December 6 and 13.

Railways also ran four special trains

To rescue stranded passengers and make long distance travel easier, Railways has run 4 special trains. These include Gorakhpur–Anand Vihar Special, New Delhi–Mumbai Central Special, Vande Bharat Special for New Delhi–Srinagar region and Hazrat Nizamuddin–Thiruvananthapuram Special. Many trains were one-way, whose purpose was only to provide relief to the passengers.

Why was this decision of Railways necessary?

After the cancellation of flights, the way the demand for tickets suddenly increased manifold, people in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Patna got worried. At such a time, this step of the Railways has proved to be very important, because the availability of thousands of additional seats provided a safe option to the passengers.

A railway station is going to be built in the country, which will have 16...

A railway station is going to be built in the country, which will have 16 floors. Not only trains but also buses and metro are available from here. Apart from this, there will also be mall, office, hotel and garden inside the station. Let us know which railway station of the country is being developed in such a way that it will leave behind even the stations of London and Paris?

Modern station being built in Gujarat

Ahmedabad Railway Station of Gujarat is moving towards historical change. It is being developed as the country’s tallest and most modern 16-storey multi-modal transport hub. This project is going to prove to be a new standard of state-of-the-art transportation infrastructure not only for Gujarat but for the entire country. According to Railways, the work on this grand project is going on at a fast pace and the target has been set to complete it by July 2027.

What will be special in this station?

The new station will appear completely different and modern due to its height, design and facilities. It will not be just a railway station, but a multi-purpose structure for passengers, tourists and city residents. This 16-floor hub will include huge parking space, office campus, commercial areas and state-of-the-art amenities for passengers.

Bus-train-metro and bullet train will be available from one point

The special thing is that the station is being designed in such a way that all types of transport modes (railway, metro, bus service and bullet train) are connected at one place. Passengers will get all connectivity from a single point, which will make the journey very convenient. The ancient heritage of the city has also been included in the design of the station. There will be a beautiful combination of heritage in the external structure and internal architecture, so that the historical identity of Ahmedabad remains intact along with modernity.

The entire city will be connected to the station

DRM Ved Prakash of Western Railway described the project as the result of the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that this 16-storey station is part of Prime Minister Modi’s vision. It is our endeavor that the entire station remains well connected to every part of the city, so that no passenger faces any problem in reaching here. He also said that the station redevelopment is being prepared in such a way that the increasing passenger pressure can be easily handled in the coming years. Direct and easy connectivity with various transport networks of the city is the biggest attraction of this project.

This is the plan of Railways

Railway officials say that the area around the station will also be developed. With better roads, bus connections, metro links and a future bullet train corridor, this entire area will emerge as the new transport hub of Ahmedabad. This project is also going to give a new impetus to the economic development, trade and tourism of the city. Curiosity about this project has also increased among the local people. After many years, Ahmedabad is going to get such a modern station, which will be equipped with international level facilities.

Every day lakhs of people travel by train in India. Train is the most reliable...

Every day lakhs of people travel by train in India. Train is the most reliable and cheapest means of travel for weddings, travelling, work or meeting family. The best thing about train travel is that you can book multiple tickets at the same time with your family or friends. But it often happens that when you book tickets for 4 to 5 people, not all their tickets are confirmed. In such a situation, the question arises that if there are five people in the same family and the tickets of only three of them are confirmed, then can the remaining people travel in the train, will TTE remove them from the train and what will be the penalty? So let us know if there are 5 people in the family but only three tickets are confirmed, then how can the rest travel.

How does the ticket booking system work in Railways?

When you take tickets for 4-5 people in a single booking, a PNR number is generated for your ticket. This PNR is a record of all your ticket information. This includes who all are travelling, in which train, seat number and coach, dates of journey. In such a situation, if you booked tickets for five people. Out of these, some tickets get confirmed and some go in the waiting list, so earlier the rule was that if some tickets on the same PNR were confirmed and some were in waiting, then everyone could board the train. Waitlisted passengers may not be able to get a seat, but could travel in the train and the TTE would not deboard them. But now Railways has changed the rules.

What are the new rules for those with waiting tickets?

Now Railways has made it clear that only those passengers whose ticket is confirmed can travel in the train. Waiting list passengers cannot board sleeper or AC coaches. If your ticket status is still waiting even after charting, you cannot travel in that coach. If you board the train without a confirmed ticket, TTE can deboard you from the train and fine or legal action can also be taken.

What to do if 3 out of 5 tickets are confirmed?

If there are 5 people in your family and after ticket booking, 3 tickets are confirmed and 2 are left in waiting list, then waiting list passengers, if the ticket is converted to RAC, then you can board the train. RAC means that your seat will be shared with someone. If the ticket is still waiting after chart preparation, then you cannot board the train directly. Apart from this, you can buy general tickets by going to the station. You can book general tickets from UTS app. Boarding the train without a ticket or waiting ticket is against the rules and TTE can take action.

IRCTC and waiting ticket

If you book a ticket online and it is not confirmed, then IRCTC auto-cancels that ticket and refunds the money. This means that you do not need to cancel the ticket yourself. If a passenger in the train cancels the journey and the seat becomes vacant, then TTE can give the seat to a waiting passenger.

Also read: Old number linked to Aadhaar has been closed, this is how you can add a new mobile number.

While traveling by train, many times it happens that the passenger reaches the station on...

While traveling by train, many times it happens that the passenger reaches the station on time, the ticket is also confirmed, but the train is missed due to change of platform or delay in getting the information. After this, people usually assume that the ticket has now become worthless and they will not get a refund. According to railway rules, in such cases the passenger can get his full money back. However, Railways should be at fault in this and you should follow the correct procedure for refund. So today let us tell you that if you miss your train due to sudden change of platform, then under what circumstances will you get a refund and what do the railway rules say about it.

What refund is available if you miss the train after reaching on time?

According to Indian Railways, if a passenger reaches the platform at 4.55 for a train that starts at 5 in the morning, then he is considered on time. In such a situation, if the train leaves before its scheduled time or is suddenly sent to another platform without informing, then it is considered to be the fault of the Railways. In such cases, passengers are entitled to complain and get compensation or full refund of the ticket.

When do you get refund or compensation in Railways?

If the train leaves the platform before its scheduled time, while the passenger has reached the station on time, then the passenger is given a refund or compensation.

At the same time, if despite booking the ticket online, information about change in train timing is not received through SMS or email, then in such a case the passenger also gets a refund.

Even if the train is suddenly shifted to another platform without any announcement and the passenger is unable to catch the train due to lack of information, the passenger is still given a refund or compensation.

In such cases, the passenger can register a complaint by visiting railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or on the helpline 139.

Refund process after missing the train

Many times, a passenger misses his train due to a sudden change of platform, and in such a situation, the passenger throws away the ticket in anger. But the traveler should not do this at all. Because Railways has made arrangements for TDR i.e. Ticket Deposit Receipt for refund in such a situation. Through this, passengers can tell that they have not traveled and want a refund. In such a situation, passengers booking online can go to IRCTC website or app and file TDR from My Booking. Whereas passengers with counter tickets can go to the reservation office of the station and fill the TDR form. In such cases, refund is usually available in 7 to 21 days. However, in some cases, refund is received within three to four days.

Also read- Make these preparations to get a pension of Rs 3 thousand every month, otherwise the application will get stuck.

On Wednesday, November 5, once again a technical glitch occurred during the testing of new monorail coaches in Wadala, Mumbai. Due to this fault during the trial run, the monorail had to be stopped midway. In this incident, the front part of the mono rail was damaged, while a member of the team engaged in the repair work suffered minor injuries.

According to Mono Rail officials, it was part of a routine testing procedure, but questions are being raised as to how the part of the train got damaged and how did the employee get injured? At present, an official statement from the Mono Rail management is awaited. There were no passengers present in the monorail at the time of the incident. Only members of the maintenance team were involved in the trial.

It is noteworthy that a similar incident had happened in September also when the running mono rail suddenly stopped. After this, mono rail services were temporarily suspended from September 20 due to security reasons. Since that time, repair and system upgrade work has been ongoing. This latest incident in Wadala is once again raising questions on the safety and technical reliability of Mumbai Mono Rail.

The Mumbai Monorail, said to be the country’s first monorail service, was launched in February 2014. It is operated by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The mono rail route extends from Chembur to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk (Jacob Circle). This 19.5 kilometer long route connects 17 stations, which include major stations like Wadala, Dadar (Naigaon) and Mahalaxmi.

Testing underway for system upgrade in Mono Rail

The cost of this project is said to be around ₹3,000 crore. It was constructed in collaboration with L&T and Scomi Engineering of Malaysia.

‘I am not your servant’, friends killed taxi driver for refusing to bring food

Monorail was started with the aim of reducing the traffic burden of Mumbai and connecting the eastern suburbs with South Mumbai. But since the beginning, this project has been in controversy many times due to technical glitches and maintenance problems.

In recent times, questions have been raised on the safety and reliability of the monorail due to technical glitches coming to light again during the trial run. At present the Mono Rail management is running trials for maintenance and system upgrade.
