Russia’s top tank designer has offered to upgrade more than 3600 tanks of India. He is ready to help in making India’s tank fleet even more powerful. Russian tank designer Alexander Potapov has made this offer.

India currently has more than 3,600 Russian tanks, including more than 2,400 T-72 Ajeya and more than 1,200 T-90 Bhishma tanks, making India one of the largest tank operators in the world. These tanks are being made in India for years. Alexander Potapov is the general director of Uralvagonzavod. Uralvagonzavod is the world’s largest manufacturer of tanks.

In an interview given to Sputnik India, he has given important information about the modernization of tanks and future cooperation. He said that we are already talking with Indian friends on the equipment being used under the Defense Ministry. He said that life does not remain stable, that is why we are talking about its modernization.

The role of tanks has changed significantly in modern wars. China has prepared the next generation tank, in view of which India also needs to upgrade its tanks like T-90 Bhishma. The General Director of Uralvagonzavod has offered India’s cooperation in three main areas.

The first is to prepare India’s aging T-72 Invincible and current T-90 tanks for today’s warfare. For example, in today’s wars, drone attacks and anti-tank missiles have started being used. India has been offered new protection and fire control systems to make these tanks compatible with drone attacks and anti-tank missiles.

The second offer is that Russia wants to do joint development with India through its latest technology in India’s Future Ready Combat Vehicle project. After the lessons learned in the war with Ukraine, they want to upgrade India’s Bhishma tanks, this is the third offer.
