Women and young professionals of Surat city of Gujarat have made major changes in their personal decisions. Some have canceled their destination wedding abroad, while others have decided to leave the foreign trip and visit India.

Surat-based businesswoman Kritika Shah told IANS that wedding preparations were going on in her family and a destination wedding abroad was initially planned. But inspired by the Prime Minister’s appeal, the family changed this decision. Now the marriage will be organized in Surat only.

‘Vocal for Local’ effect seen in Surat

Kritika said that to keep the wedding small and simple, the purchase of gold has also been limited. While advising women, she said that instead of running after expensive gold jewellery, using imitation jewelery and old family jewellery, i.e. heritage jewellery, can be a better option. They believe that such jewelery looks very beautiful with Indian sarees and it also saves unnecessary expenses.

At the same time, architect Pranjal Patel said that he has also adopted the Prime Minister’s appeal in his life. Now she carpools with her father or uses public transport instead of a private vehicle to go to office.

Foreign trip cancelled, decided to visit India

Pranjal told that the plan to travel abroad with friends has also been cancelled. Now she will travel to different tourist places in India. They say that this will strengthen the country’s economy and will also boost Indian tourism. These women of Surat believe that the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi is not limited only to economic savings, but it will also help in reducing pollution, saving fuel and preserving foreign exchange. He has also appealed to the youth and other people of the society to join this campaign of ‘Vocal for Local’ and saving resources.
