Kerala man return from bahrain: The story of 74-year-old Gopalan Chandran is not only about the struggle of one person, but also of thousands of Indian migrants who leave home in search of a better future, but never return. Gopalan Chandran, a resident of Povdikonam village of Trivandrum in Kerala, reached the Muslim -dominated country Bahrain on 16 August 1983. His aim was to grooming the future of his family by getting a good job, but in a short time his life changed completely.

The person who brought Gopalan Chandran to Bahrain died suddenly and during that time his passport was also lost. Living in an unknown country without documents was nothing short of punishment. Gopalan could neither return to India nor do any formal job.

PLC gave freedom to Gopalan
The story of Gopalan, who lived life like an anonymous man for many years, was heard by a non-governmental organization called Pravasi Legal Sale (PLC). This organization consists of retired judges, lawyers and journalists, who work for legal assistance of Indians trapped abroad. In Bahrain, PLC President Sudhir Thirunilath along with his team contacted the Indian Embassy and the immigration department of Bahrain and cleared all the legal hurdles and cleared the way for Gopalan. This process was not easy. A person who had neither identity, no legal document, visa, travel permission and other formalities was quite difficult for him.

Gopalan returned without goods, only memories
Gopalan has left for his village from Bahrain. However, he had no goods at the time of leaving. He had only memories, tears and the dream he lived for 40 years. He will now meet his 95 -year -old mother, who never left his son’s return to return. The PLC wrote in its Facebook post, “This is not just the story of a man returning home. It is the story of the time when humanity, justice and mercy come together. It is a symbol of hope for those countless migrants who have no hearing.”
