India-pakistan tension: After the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the increasing tension between India and Pakistan has increased the concern of the international community. Meanwhile, Pakistan had immediately demanded the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to call a close-door meeting, which was finally held in the consultation room. The purpose of this meeting was to find a diplomatic route to reduce the increasing military tension in South Asia.

In the UN, Pakistan’s permanent representative Aseem Iftikhar said in a press conference after this meeting that what was the purpose of achieving the UNSC meeting has been fulfilled. He informed that the meeting was discussed in the meeting to solve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Many members of the council reiterated that the dispute should be resolved peacefully as per United Nations resolutions.

Concern expressed on India’s footsteps
Iftikhar said that Pakistan apprised the UN about India’s unilateral steps on the 23 April. Pakistan has not only endangering regional stability of India’s arguments, but has also violated international law.

India’s stance on Indus Water Treaty and Pak’s response
India took five major decisions on 23 April, one of which was to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. This decision can bring serious consequences for Pakistan, as a large part of Pakistan’s agriculture and water supply depends on this treaty. After this decision, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif spoke to UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres twice and urged that this economic injury strategy of India be stopped.

International reaction
Although no formal resolution was passed in this meeting of the United Nations Security Council, many members demanded diplomatic solutions. Aseem Iftikhar claimed that during the meeting it was accepted that regional stability is possible not only with military power, but only by international law and dialogue.

Pakistan Threats India: After the Pahalgam terror attack, there have been situations like war between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Mohammad Khalid Jamali said in an interview to RT channel that if India attacks Pakistan or stops the water of Indus river, Pakistan will not only reply with nuclear weapons, not only traditional but also with nuclear weapons.

This statement of Pakistan’s ambassador has become a cause of concern globally as both countries are nuclear -rich. The Pak Ambassador also claimed that India’s military documents have been leaked in which there are plans to attack Pakistan. It is clear from this that Pakistan fears an attack and is ready to react at any moment.

Pakistan stunned due to suspension of Indus Water Agreement

India has ended the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam attack. Because of this, the Pakistani rulers are quite furious. The Indus Water Treaty, which was between India and Pakistan in 1960, has now become the center of tension. Pakistan says that if India stops water in the lower areas or bends its stream, then it will be considered as the Act of War. India has indicated to review this treaty, especially when terrorism is being supported again and again from Pakistan. In this context, water has now become a strategic weapon, not just resources.

Why is it necessary to reduce stress?

Jamali also admitted in the interview that both countries are nuclear power and in such a situation, increasing tension can put the whole of South Asia in danger. He demanded a fair international inquiry into the Kashmir attack and said that Russia and China could have a role in it. However, India has rejected this demand of Pakistan.

Tough steps against Pakistan

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April not only shocked India but also caused deep shock to the regional stability. 26 people lost their lives in this attack, causing a wave of fury and mourning across the country. This attack took place at a time when India was already facing tension in the border areas. The Government of India took quick action and took tough steps against Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave an open exemption to the three armies for decisive action against terrorism. Along with this, he also warned the terrorists and their supporters that India will now adopt an aggressive policy, not defensive.
