IndiGo has extended free waivers and flexibility on flights to the Middle East and Istanbul till 31 March 2026. This decision has been taken due to the ongoing closure of the airspace of the Middle East due to the Iran-America-Israel war and security concerns. The airline said that full waiver on cancellation is being given on flights to and from the Middle East and Istanbul, which will remain in effect till March 31, 2026.

Which passengers will get this facility?

This policy is applicable on bookings which are made on or before 28 February 2026. Affected passengers will get the option of a full refund or can change their travel dates without extra charges. Indigo said that they are constantly assessing the situation and adjusting or suspending flights keeping safety at the forefront. Airline teams are contacting affected customers directly on their registered mobile or email, hence passengers are advised to check flight status before traveling to the airport.

Many major airspaces of Middle East closed

Due to the war, major airspace areas of the Middle East such as Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Israel are closed or restricted. Due to increasing danger in the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf area, many airlines are canceling flights. IndiGo has affected hundreds of flights since February 28 and even on March 6, 2026, 112 flights were cancelled. However, some repatriation flights are operating from cities such as Jeddah, Madinah, Muscat and Athens.

Go to the airport by checking real-time updates

IndiGo has appealed to passengers to check real-time updates on the airline’s website, app or social media. If the flight is cancelled, avail full refund or free rescheduling. Other airlines like Air India, Akasa Air, Emirates and Qatar Airways are also offering similar waivers.
