Due to the eruption of Hayli Gubbi volcano in Afar, Ethiopia on Sunday (23 November), the cloud of ash has spread eastwards and reached the Arabian Sea and India, which is directly affecting Indian flights. Due to this many flights have had to be cancelled.

‘We are in constant contact with the operating crew’
Air India posted on Twitter saying that we are monitoring this situation very closely and are in constant touch with our operating crew. We are making every effort to make alternative travel arrangements as soon as possible. It was told in the post that the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft is our top priority. Our ground teams will continue to provide assistance and updates to passengers on the network.

Indigo has also assured the passengers that after the volcanic eruption, there are reports of ash clouds moving towards western India. We understand that this news may cause concern, but your safety is our top priority. Our teams are monitoring the situation in coordination with international aviation bodies. We will continue to provide updates to minimize any inconvenience.

Airlines on alert
Akasa Air has canceled flights to Jeddah, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi on 24 and 25 November. Dutch Airlines has canceled its Amsterdam-Delhi (KL 871) and Delhi-Amsterdam (KL 872) flights. Indigo has assured the passengers that safety is the top priority and the situation is being constantly monitored.

DGCA has issued an advisory to airlines and airports to deal with the problems caused by the ash cloud emanating from volcanic activity in Ethiopia. Akasa Air, IndiGo and KLM are among the airlines that have canceled some flights due to the ash cloud.

If you often travel by air then this news is useful for you. The Indian government may soon ban carrying or using power banks in flights during air travel. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is busy making guidelines in this regard and they can be finalized soon. Let us tell you that in the recent few days, there have been incidents of fire caused by power banks in many flights including an Indigo flight. In view of this, preparations are being made to ban power banks.

Powerbank had caught fire

On October 19, the power bank with a passenger on board an Indigo flight from Delhi to Dimapur caught fire. This incident has been taken seriously and DGCA has started deliberations in view of these incidents. At present, issues like quantity limit, ban on in-flight charging, rules for storage and visible capacity rating are being considered. There are speculations that in India too, like abroad, charging during flights may be banned. Before bringing new rules, the dependence of passengers on electronic gadgets is also being kept in mind.

Air China flight was diverted

Just a few days before the Indigo flight, an Air China flight was diverted due to a fire in the power bank. Such incidents have happened in many countries in the world, due to which many airlines have changed the rules related to power banks. Emirates Airline has banned the use of power banks during flights. Similarly, Singapore Airlines has also stopped charging through USB ports installed in the cabin. Also, passengers have been asked to keep the power bank in the seat pocket or under-seat baggage.

IndiGo fined Rs 20 lakh: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the country’s largest airline IndiGo for alleged lapses in pilot training. The company said that it is considering challenging this order before the appellate authority.

This action of DGCA has come at a time when serious flaws came to light in the investigation of Indigo’s training records. The investigation revealed that the Full Flight Simulator (FFS) training of nearly 1,700 pilots, including pilots-in-command and first officers, was not certified for high-risk airports — such as Calicut, Leh and Kathmandu.

What is the whole matter?

These airports have been placed in the “high-risk category” because the weather, runway conditions and geographical conditions here are extremely challenging. For this reason, DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on IndiGo and has asked the company to improve the training process.

Indigo said in its information given to the stock market on Wednesday that it received a notice regarding the fine from DGCA on September 26. According to the regulator, this penalty has been imposed for alleged failure to use suitable simulators for training of pilots at Category ‘C’ airports.

Category ‘C’ airports are those places where access and operating conditions are challenging. DGCA says that Indigo failed to follow the training standards set for these airports.

Action has already been taken

The company said there was a delay in making this information public due to delays in internal communication. However, the airline clarified that this order will not have any impact on its financial position, operations or other activities. IndiGo said that it is committed to adhering to the highest standards of safety in the operation of its aircraft.

This is not the first time that DGCA has imposed fine on IndiGo. Even in the year 2023, the regulator had imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on the airline. At that time, a special audit had found many shortcomings in the operations, training and engineering departments of the company.

India extends ban on pak airlines: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India not only...

India extends ban on pak airlines: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India not only retaliated by running ‘Operation Sindoor’ and broke the back of the terrorists, but also taught a strong lesson to the neighboring country of Pakistan. India not only gave a befitting reply on the military front, but also hurt Pakistan’s economy. Now once again, India has taken counter action and has increased the ban on Pakistan Airlines in its aircraft for a month to the morning of 24 October.

Closed aircraft for Pakistan

This decision was taken on Monday in the NOTAM issued by the Indian Aviation Authorities. This step of India has come at a time when Pakistan issued a notice to keep the aircraft closure for the Indian Airlines for the same period. In this way, it has been almost six months when both countries have closed each other’s aircraft.

Ban started from 24 April

Significantly, after the Pahalgam terror attack in April, the relationship between New Delhi and Islamabad got worse. After this, Pakistan banned Indian aircraft in its aircraft, in response to which India also banned Pakistan Airlines. Since then, both countries have been increasing this ban by issuing demonetisation. However, this ban is only on the airlines of India and Pakistan, the airlines of the rest of the countries are allowed to use the aircraft of both countries.

Effect on 800 weekly flights

Around 800 weekend flights of India are being affected by Pakistan’s aerpace closure. These include flights from India to West Asia, Europe, UK and North America, which now have to go a long way. According to aviation analytics company Sirikam, only six flights of Pakistan Airlines (Lahore and Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur) used Indian aircraft.

But the situation is far more challenging for Indian airlines. Air India flights go to West Asia, Europe, North America and UK. Indigo flights operate from India to West Asia, Türkiye and Central Asia.

A heartbreaking view came to light at Lucknow Airport in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (14 September). Indigo’s flight going to Delhi stayed here on the runway during takeoff. The Captain saved the lives of 151 passengers by stopping the aircraft in time. Samajwadi Party MP and SP President Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav was also present in this aircraft.

According to sources, the aircraft caught high speed on the runway, but still could not rise in the air. The Captain of the flight cleverly stopped the aircraft before the last end of the runway. The incident panicked the passengers present in the aircraft. However, all passengers remained safe. Later, the airline sent everyone to Delhi by another flight.

Flight going from Surat to Dubai also caused a malfunction

Earlier, IndiGo flight going from Surat to Dubai had to be diverted at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad due to technical fault during the flight. There were more than 170 passengers in this aircraft. Officials said that this step was taken to ensure safe operation due to technical problems.

Technical fault during air flight

Some technical problems came to light during the air flight in the aircraft. Due to this, the pilot decided to field the aircraft from Surat to Dubai in Ahmedabad. The officials clarified that this decision was taken keeping in mind the safety of the passengers. Indigo Airlines immediately arranged for another aircraft so that all passengers could reach their destination in Dubai. Passengers did not suffer any kind of injury or inconvenience.

Indigo flight number 6E1403 faced technical fault during the flight on Saturday morning (6 September)....

Indigo flight number 6E1403 faced technical fault during the flight on Saturday morning (6 September). The aircraft was going from Kochi to Abu Dhabi, but about two hours after the flying, the pilot took it back to Kochi Airport after seeing security. The aircraft flew from Kochi at night and stayed in the air for about two hours. During this time, the pilot received a sign of technical problem. After this, it was decided to bring back the alert aircraft.

All passengers and crew completely safe

The aircraft made a safe landing at Kochi Airport at around 2:30 am. All the passengers and crew present in the aircraft are completely safe. After the landing, the technical team has started investigating the aircraft failure. Recently, IndiGo’s flight 6E812 going from Nagpur to Kolkata had an emergency landing. In view of the dangerous situation after the bird collided, the pilots immediately made a landing of the aircraft at Nagpur Airport, showing vigilance.

There were a total of 272 passengers in the Indigo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata. The collision caused damage to the front part (nose) of the aircraft. A picture revealed from the airport shows that an employee is inspecting the aircraft and the front of it was clearly damaged. There have been incidents of bird strikes from time to time at many airports in India. This problem is mostly revealed during take-off or landing. In such cases, there is a risk of damage to the engine and wings of the aircraft. Along with this, the aircraft also has to return due to technical fault.

Indigo shares: Indigo airline shares will remain in focus on August 28 as its co-founder...

Indigo shares: Indigo airline shares will remain in focus on August 28 as its co-founder Rakesh Gangwal has planned to sell his share of 3.1 percent in Interglob Aviation for $ 801 million (about Rs 7,027.7 crore) through a block deal.

According to the Economic Times report, the sale of 1.21 crore shares under the proposed sale will be at a minimum price of Rs 5,808 per share, which is about four percent less than Tuesday’s closed price (Rs 6,050). Goldman Shakes, Morgan Stanley India and JP Morgan India have been appointed brokers for this deal.

The share will remain so after the deal

Let us know that the total stake of Gangwal and Chunkarpu Family Trust in Interglobe Aviation was 7.81 percent till June 2025. Whereas after this deal, it will now be reduced to 4.71 percent. The trust has Shobha Gangwal and JP Morgan Trust Company of Delaware Trustees.

Constantly decreasing stake

In February 2022, Gangwal resigned from the board after being told by another co-founder Rahul Bhatia on issues related to the company’s operation. At that time, Gangwal and their respective institutions had about 37 percent stake in the company. Since then, he and his wife Shobha Gangwal have been continuously reducing their stake through several block deals.

He also sold 5.72 percent stake in May 2025 for around Rs 11,564 crore. Earlier, stake was sold in August 2024, February 2023, August 2023 and September 2022. According to the ET report, according to the terms of the deal, the family agreed to the 150-day lock-up period on the sale of shares.

The rear of the Indigo aircraft A321 (VT-H) collided with the runway during landing in...

The rear of the Indigo aircraft A321 (VT-H) collided with the runway during landing in Mumbai on Saturday (August 16, 2025) amid heavy rains. Actually this aircraft was flying from Bangkok as 6E 1060. When the back part of the aircraft collided, the pilot canceled the landing.

After that, in the second attempt, the aircraft was landed at 3 am. This has happened for the seventh time in two years, when the previous part of the Indigo A321 aircraft has collided at the time of landing. DGCA has raised this issue before the airline.

Indigo spokesperson gave this information

According to an IndiGo official, on August 16, 2025, due to bad weather conditions in Mumbai, the rear part of the Indigo Airlines A321 aircraft collided with the runway while flying at a low altitude. After this, the aircraft took another flight and securely landed.

The official said that keeping in mind all the protocols, now the aircraft will be well investigated, only then it will be able to get approval for the flight. IndiGo’s first priority is the protection of its passengers, crew and aircraft. Indigo will try his best to reduce the effects caused by this incident.

IndiGo was fined 30 lakhs

Let us know that in July 2023, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation had fined IndiGo for 4 such tail strike incidents within 6 months. During the investigation, the team found deficiencies in the operation, training process and technical process.

According to the Skybrary website, the tail strike occurs when the back of an airplane comes in contact with the runway during takeoff or landing. Most of the incidents of tail strikes occur during landing, in which most of the pilot’s fault is considered. However, bad weather, strong winds further increase the possibility of this incident.

The video of slapping a passenger went viral during a panic in a flight from...

The video of slapping a passenger went viral during a panic in a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata. After this incident, the victim went missing. After investigation, the person was found at a railway station in Barpeta, Assam. The station is about 800 km from Kolkata, where the aircraft landed and 400 km from Silchar, where it had to go.

32 -year -old Hussain Majumdar from Kachar district of Assam, who was to go to Silchar, boarded an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata on Thursday. The next day, there were second flights to Silchar from there. When he was sitting on the flight, he felt nervous, then the airhostess was helping him. Meanwhile, a fellow passenger Hafeezul Rahman slapped him.

Accused Rahman was detained in Kolkata

In the video, Rahman can be seen attacking Mazumdar and when he was questioned, he said that he did this because he was getting upset because of him. Rehman was detained and handed over to the police after the flight reached Kolkata, but was later released.

What did the victim’s father Abdul Mannan Majumdar tell?

32 -year -old Mazumdar, who works in a hotel in Mumbai, has taken flying from this route several times before and his family was unaware that something has happened. Those people reached Silchar Airport on Friday to pick up Hussain. His father Abdul Mannan Mazumdar said that after watching the viral video, he tried to contact him, but his mobile phone was closed.

After this, the family lodged a missing complaint and the investigation revealed that Majumdars did not board the flight going to Silchar on Friday and did not even go to Kolkata Airport on Saturday. The police then received information that he was at Barpeta railway station and the police found him there. An official said that he looked unwell and is now being taken home.

Meanwhile, IndiGo, who slapped Rahman, has been banned from flying on any aircraft operated by the airline and said that the safety of our customers and crew is our top priority.
