Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter and writer Sharmistha Mukherjee on Saturday made several important revelations related to her father’s diary and his personal relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told that Pranab Mukherjee had written in his diary that after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister who can read the pulse of the public in the best way. Along with this, he also talked in detail about Modi’s understanding of foreign policy, his father’s views on visiting RSS headquarters in Nagpur, his advice to Congress and the importance of dialogue in democracy.

‘After Indira Gandhi, Modi is the only Prime Minister who reads the pulse of the people’
Sharmistha Mukherjee told that her father had written in his diary that after Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only Prime Minister who understands the feelings and needs of the people the best. He said that this comment was written at a time when there was severe flood in Jammu and Kashmir.

He told that during that time Prime Minister Modi first reached Siachen and then celebrated Diwali among the flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. Pranab Mukherjee was very impressed by this step. Apart from this, he also appreciated Modi’s ability to understand the nuances of foreign policy very quickly and implement them effectively.

Also read: Azaan will be banned in this country! Government said- ‘Sound should not echo on rooftops…’

What did Pranab Mukherjee say when he visited RSS headquarters?
Sharmistha Mukherjee also mentioned about Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur in the year 2018. He said that his father believed that the biggest strength of democracy is dialogue.

She told that at that time she was in active politics of Congress and was very angry with this decision of her father. When he told his father that by going to the RSS headquarters he was giving legitimacy to the organization, Pranab Mukherjee got angry.

According to Sharmistha, Pranab Mukherjee had said, ‘Who am I to give legitimacy to RSS? RSS has been given legitimacy by the people of the country, who have elected one of their preachers as the Prime Minister with an overwhelming majority. If Congress ignores this truth then it will be harmful for itself.

Big revelation on the relationship between Prime Minister Modi and Pranab Mukherjee
Sharmistha Mukherjee told that there was a very good relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and her father and this relationship was not only after becoming the President and the Prime Minister. He said that Narendra Modi himself had told him that before becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat, when he used to come to Delhi as an ordinary RSS worker, he would often meet Pranab Mukherjee during his morning walk. According to Sharmistha, Prime Minister Modi had told her, ‘I always used to touch Dada’s feet. I don’t know why, but I always had deep respect for him.

Also read: Why the delay in trade deal between India and America? Trump’s special envoy Sergio Gore gave this reason

He also told that according to Pranab Mukherjee’s diary included in his book, when Narendra Modi had come to meet him at Rashtrapati Bhavan when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Pranab Mukherjee had written that Modi had been one of the most vocal critics of the Congress and the UPA government, but in personal meetings he would always touch his feet and said that doing so gave him pleasure.

Pranab Mukherjee was in favor of all-party relations and dignity of Parliament.
Sharmistha Mukherjee said her father was always known as a ‘consensus leader’. He had good relations with leaders of all parties including CPI, CPM, BJP. He said that Pranab Mukherjee clearly believed that the job of the opposition is not to continuously disrupt the Parliament. There should be debate and discussion in Parliament, because this is the real strength of democracy. Sharmistha said that today the kind of dialogue that should take place between the government and the opposition is lacking and this is not a good situation for a healthy democracy. However, he also said that both sides are responsible for this.

Robbery worth crores took place under the cover of Ram Mandir Trust?” src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/GptbrBnbDaU” width=”1103″ height=”621″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”>

Sonia Gandhi was also advised not to stall the Parliament
Sharmistha Mukherjee said that even when Congress was in opposition during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government, Pranab Mukherjee had advised Sonia Gandhi that Parliament should not be disrupted. He said that Pranab Mukherjee believed that debate and discussion should continue continuously in Parliament. In the interest of the country and the people, it is the responsibility of both the government and the opposition to find a middle path instead of confrontation and strengthen democratic dialogue.

Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) President Sharad Pawar has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that even though our political thinking may be different from that of PM Narendra Modi, we should not forget that as Prime Minister, he is working to maintain India’s prestige at the international level. At an event organized here on Tuesday (May 19) evening, former Union Minister Sharad Pawar said that whenever there is an opportunity to work collectively in the national interest, everyone should come forward with a common objective and contribute in strengthening the reputation of the country.

Leaders like Indira Gandhi kept the future of the country under their leadership.

Sharad Pawar also said that leaders like Indira Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh always kept the country’s future and its reputation at the center of their leadership. He said, ‘When it comes to saving India’s reputation, political differences should not come in the way and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to maintain the country’s honor abroad.

He said, ‘Prime Minister Modi is working to protect the reputation of the country outside India. Our political ideologies may be different, but when it comes to the honor of the nation, political differences should not come in between.

Sanjay Raut takes a jibe at PM Modi for asking questions of a journalist in Norway, ‘Once before leaving the post…’

Addressed the function of ‘Laxmanrao Gutte Rural Foundation’

Rajya Sabha member Pawar was addressing the felicitation and friendship function of former state and district officials organized by Pune-based ‘Laxmanrao Gutte Rural Development Foundation’. Pawar said that many people present at the program gave the most energetic years of their lives to Youth Congress and other organizations and now they are working in different political parties.

He said, ‘Today some people may be in different parties, but all of you remain among the common people and have consciously maintained your commitment towards the society.’ Recalling his early political journey, Pawar said that in 1958, when he was 18 years old, he came to Pune from Baramati because there was no college in his home town at that time.

Pawar remembered his meeting with Jawaharlal Nehru

Pawar told that he joined the youth movement, after four years became the head of Youth Congress in Pune city and later worked at the national level along with leading the Maharashtra Youth Congress. The senior leader said that one of the most memorable events of his youth was his meeting with Jawaharlal Nehru at Teen Murti House in Delhi.

He recalled, ‘We had prepared many questions on the issues of farmers and youth, but when Pandit Nehru came, due to his influential personality, we forgot everything that Haq wanted to say.’ Pawar also narrated an incident related to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, when she was on an official visit to the then Soviet Union and she felt that the Prime Minister of India was not given due respect.

‘Indira Gandhi did not ignore the respect of Indians’- Sharad Pawar

Citing his conversation with former diplomat and Prime Minister IK Gujral, Pawar said Indira Gandhi had told Soviet officials that she represented 40 crore Indians and would not accept any disregard for their dignity.

Quoting the words of Indira Gandhi, Pawar said, ‘I represent 40 crore people of India. If his reputation is not respected, I will never accept it. ‘The NCP (SP) chief welcomed the coming together of old colleagues who had gone to different parties and urged them to continue such efforts. He said, ‘If there is an opportunity to work collectively in the national interest, then all of you should participate with a common objective and contribute to enhancing the prestige of the country.

Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the mentor of Ameesha Patel.
Ameesha Patel was asked, ‘We have heard that the first person who came to meet you after birth was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi?’ The actress agreed to this and then when she was asked about her connection with the Gandhi family, she said, ‘My grandfather Barrister Rajni Patel was a lawyer and barrister. He again entered politics. Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was his mentor since childhood. Then when he came into politics, he first joined the Communist Party. Later came to Congress.

February 1974… Peggy Galgano, an 18-year-old nursing student in the small town of Pleasantville near New York, had to return to college. She came to Pleasantville because of her mother’s ill health, but due to the 1973 oil crisis, there was a shortage of oil and gas in America. She took the car and set out in search of a gas station, but was unsuccessful. Peggy told the New York Times that stations used to turn off the pumps as soon as they saw a queue of trains. After 53 years, the same situation has returned all over the world, this time also the reason is Israel and America… oil and gas shutdown. Rising inflation and echo of explosions in war. Is this time the oil crisis bigger than the 1973 crisis? What happened 53 years ago? Let us understand in the explainer…

Question 1: What exactly was the 1973 oil crisis and why did it start?

answer: It was the year 1973, when the Oil Exporting Organization of Arab Countries (OPEC) had imposed a complete oil embargo on America and its allied countries. The reason was the Yom Kippur War. In this war, Egypt and Syria attacked Israel to regain the areas lost in the Six-Day War of 1967. At that time, America gave emergency aid of 2.2 billion dollars to Israel, due to which the Arab countries got angry and stopped the supply of oil.

In the 1970s, the Middle East produced 50% of the world’s oil. OPEC reduced production by 5% every month and banned America, Netherlands, Portugal and South Africa. outcome? Global supply decreased by 4.5 million barrels per day (bpd), i.e. about 7% of the total supply at that time.

In the 1970s the Middle East produced 50% of the world’s oil.

Question 2: How much did oil prices increase in 1973 and what was the impact on the world?

answer: In 1973, oil prices had increased four times in a few months. In America, one barrel went from $3 to $12, which is around $80 today. Petrol stations dried up. Fuel rationing was imposed in America, speed limits were reduced and daylight saving time was kept throughout the year.

Europe and Japan were also badly affected by the oil crisis. Three-day work week started in Britain, driving on Sunday was banned in Europe. Inflation increased, industrial production fell and many countries fell into the grip of stagflation i.e. inflation and recession. There was recession in America and Britain from 1973-75.

There was recession in America and Britain from 1973-75.

At that time there was no direct ban on India, but the impact was very deep. India’s oil import bill was 414 million dollars in 1973, which increased to 1,350 million dollars in 1974, i.e. three times. A four-fold increase in prices created a storm of inflation; railway workers organized the biggest strike of two million workers in May 1974.

The government sought help from the World Bank and IMF, but there were conditions. All this created a hostile environment. Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement set Bihar on fire and finally on June 25, 1975, Indira Gandhi’s government imposed emergency in the country.

Question 3: What is today’s global oil crisis in 2026 and is it different from 1973?

answer: In March 2026, America-Israel started war on Iran. Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil and gas passes. As a result, the supply of 20 million barrels of oil daily was stopped.

There was a shortage of 4.5 million barrels in 1973, today there is 20 million less, that is, four times more supply shock. The price of Brent crude crossed $66 to $100 per barrel. The International Energy Agency (IEA), formed after the 1973 oil crisis, has said that this is ‘the biggest energy security threat in history’.

IEA has asked its 32 member countries to withdraw 400 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve, but experts say that if the war continues for a long time, gas, diesel and jet fuel will all become expensive.

Question 4: Why does today’s crisis seem more dangerous than that of 1973?

answer: The supply shock today is bigger than in 1973. Kiel Institute economist Klaus Jürgen Gern says that in the 1970s the supply had decreased by only 5%, today it has decreased more. Shipping expert Lars Jensen says, ‘The impact could be much bigger than in the 1970s.’

Yet prices did not quadruple because:

Today the oil market is more diversified (OPEC’s share dropped from 50% to 36%).

America is the largest oil producer today and added 90% of new oil to the global supply in the last decade.

The world has a record reserve of 8.2 billion barrels.

The market expects the war to end in a few weeks.

In 1973 no one knew when the ban would be lifted, so prices remained high for a long time.

Long queues are seen at petrol pumps in India.

Question 5: What impact can the crisis of 2026 have on India and Asia?

answer: India is still a heavy oil importer. Like 1973, the import bill will increase and inflation will occur. The countries of Asia, which import oil, will be most affected, but there will be no political upheaval like in 1973 because today there are reserves, energy efficiency is high and some sanctions on America-Russia-Iran are being temporarily removed.

The crisis of 1973 was a deliberate policy and lasted a long time. The crisis of 2026 is the result of war. Supply shock is big, but reserves and diversification have kept prices under control for now. If the war ends quickly, there will be no long recession like 1973, but if the oil infrastructure is damaged, it could lead to global inflation, industrial slowdown and a new crisis of energy security, especially in India and Asia.

1973 taught the world how dangerous oil dependence is. The same lessons are being repeated in 2026, but now with reserves, American production and faster response mechanisms. Still, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is a reminder that the Middle East is still the world’s oil pipeline.

Recently during the budget session, there was a lot of uproar after the speech given by Lok Sabha MP from Godda, Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey. The atmosphere became more heated after the controversial books brought by him. At the same time, many allegations were made against Nishikant Dubey by Congress also. At the same time, MP Nishikant Dubey has openly given clarification regarding his speech in Parliament and the allegations made against Congress. He responded in detail to the comments on women MPs, Nehru-Indira and the controversies raised regarding Rahul Gandhi.

On the question of the woman MP moving towards him and heating up the atmosphere in the Parliament, Dubey said that the opposition is afraid of her. In India TV’s program Aap Ki Adalat, he said, “Whenever I stand in the Parliament, Congress starts sweating. Wherever Priyanka Gandhi is, she will come to listen.” Dubey also added that he is not afraid of anyone because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is with him.

Clarification regarding comments on Nehru

On the allegation of calling Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ‘Ayyaash’, Dubey said that he did not add anything from his side. He says that this word is written in a book and he read the same reference. He said that some books are banned and some are not, but he accesses such material because of his passion for reading and writing. According to him, in Parliament he read only what was available in the published material.

Clarification given on Indira Gandhi and MO Mathai

Dubey mentioned MO Mathai on allegations of ‘obscene’ remarks about Indira Gandhi. He said that Mathai was Nehru’s PA and had formed a trust, which got support from Birla. According to Dubey, when Mathai was accused of corruption, a committee was formed in 1960-61, in whose report he was given a clean cheat. He says that whatever MO Mathai had written in his book, he read it in the Parliament and did not add anything to it.

Taunt on Rahul Gandhi and mention of his studies

On the allegation of not allowing Rahul Gandhi to read the book, Dubey said that he saved him from being exposed. Taking a jibe at the Gandhi family, he said that if Rahul Gandhi is allowed to speak without interruption, he will not be able to speak effectively even for five minutes. Dubey also said that Rahul Gandhi comes with an empty book and constitution.

He said about himself that he studies and researches for two hours every day. According to him, he presents in the House only the facts which he considers correct.

Rahul Gandhi was moving towards me, I don’t know what his intention was. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has made this serious allegation against Lok Sabha leader of opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday. He criticized him for saying the word ‘traitor’. Also alleged that he was coming towards her after losing his temper. Apart from this, he expressed gratitude to PM Modi and BJP leaders for their support.

In fact, when Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu was entering Parliament on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi called him a ‘traitor’. After this, the Union Minister responded by calling him ‘enemy of the country’. The incident took place just outside the Makar Gate of Parliament. Where Gandhi stood in solidarity with the suspended Congress MPs who were protesting on the stairs. Most of these MPs were from Punjab. Makar Dwar is the main entrance from where MPs enter the new Parliament House.

What has Bittu said while talking to the media?

Speaking to the media in Amritsar, Bittu said that he did not leave Congress midway, he completed his third term as Congress MP and after that he joined BJP.

Referring to the incident that happened with Gandhi, Bittu said, ‘The balloon inside him (Gandhi) burst. A man from a very big family, see what he was saying. He was offering to shake hands, thinking he was an emperor. You can say this. In politics we talk about ideology but do not make personal attacks.

Bittu alleged that when he was going to Parliament, Gandhi lost his temper and came towards him. One of his hands was held by Congress leader KC Venugopal and the other hand by Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Randhawa. He became so violent, I don’t know what his intention was, only God knows.

Targeting the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Bittu asked which party Amarinder Singh came from when he was made the Chief Minister and which party Navjot Singh Sidhu came from when he was made the Punjab Congress chief.

Bittu said that Amarinder Singh was made the Chief Minister after leaving Shiromani Akali Dal. Hitting out at the Congress for giving important posts to leaders coming from other political parties, Bittu asked, ‘Who was made the (Punjab) Congress president? Navjot Singh Sidhu. Which party did he come from? Was he a Congressman?

Bittu also targeted Punjab Congress leaders including Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi for criticizing him after the incident in Parliament.

Accused of not giving Bharat Ratna to Dada Beant Singh

Bittu attacked Congress for not awarding the Bharat Ratna to his grandfather and former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, who was assassinated in 1995. Bittu said he gave Bharat Ratna to former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Bittu joined BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Bittu is a Rajya Sabha member who was given the post of minister in the third term of the Narendra Modi government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha strongly targeted the Congress. He said that Congress is not able to digest how Modi has reached the post of Prime Minister. Congress calls itself a shop of love. Now the love shop owners talk about digging my grave. Digging graves is not their slogan but their sentiment.

Why does Congress want to dig PM Modi’s grave?

PM Modi said that we are preparing the ground for developed India. Congress is organizing programs to dig the grave of Modi. Those opening love shops are raising slogans of ‘Modi will dig your grave’. What kind of shop of love is this, which talks about digging the grave of a citizen of the country? Is this not an insult to the Constitution? PM Modi has given 7 big reasons for this:

Nehru ji had done injustice to the country. He had made a big mistake by signing the Indus Water Treaty. We put that agreement into oblivion, that is why you raise slogans of digging Modi’s grave.

Congress’s problem is something else. They are not able to digest how Modi reached here and how can Modi survive after reaching here, hence they feel that the only way out is that Modi will dig your grave.

Congress never encouraged startup culture. They are not able to fix even their home startup. Today our government supported more than 2 lakh startups. But they have only one way, Modi will dig your grave.

Earlier there used to be repeated news in the country that the Army does not have ammunition or bullet proof jackets. Don’t even have shoes to stand in the snow. We opened the coffers for the soldiers of the country. Therefore, they have no option left and want to dig Modi’s grave.

Congress feels that the Prime Minister’s chair is their property. Congress is worried about how Modi has reached here. Nehru had done a lot of injustice to the country, we rectified it. We demolished wall 370, so want to dig a grave.

We brought peace to the North East and Pakistani terrorists respond by entering our homes, so they want to dig my grave.

We do Operation Sindoor, which causes them trouble, so they dig Modi’s grave. Take steps to deal with Maoist terrorism.

I have been abused in the House for 25 years: PM Modi

PM Modi said that even after this he will give a statement, see the Prime Minister was crying in the Rajya Sabha also. For the last 25 years, there has not been a single session of Parliament in which Modi was not abused in this Parliament. Someone had asked me the secret of my health, I had said that I abuse two kilograms. Why do they want to dig Modi’s grave? This is not a slogan, it is a reflection of the hatred within them.

Those who consider themselves kings speak on economic inequality: PM Modi

PM Modi said, ‘From the discussion I saw, I feel that its level should have been higher. Congress has spent many years in the government, they should have ensured high level debate, but they missed this opportunity also. How can the country trust such people? Yesterday, I was listening to an honorable member who takes great pride in calling himself ‘King’. But tell me, when someone who considers himself a king speaks about economic inequality, one is forced to think whether we are really forced to see such days?

People often compare the tenure of the country’s current Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former PM Indira Gandhi. India Today-C Voter’s ‘Mood of the Nation’ (MOTN) has conducted a survey regarding this. In the survey, 50 percent people have described Narendra Modi as the best Prime Minister of the country so far. At the same time, 12-12 percent people have said that Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee are the best PM till date.

What percentage of people said Nehru was better?

In C-Voter’s survey, 11 percent people said Dr. Manmohan Singh was the best PM while 6 percent people called Jawaharlal Nehru the best PM. In this, 55 percent people have described Narendra Modi as the right candidate for PM at present. Whereas 27 percent people have expressed confidence in Rahul Gandhi as the current PM.

After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, an atmosphere of change started developing in the country’s politics. The biggest reason for this was the poor performance of BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. When the duo of Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi defeated BJP in UP, it seemed that politics could change in a few days, but then BJP made a strong comeback.

BJP regained the ground lost in Lok Sabha elections

After the Lok Sabha elections, the eyes of the entire country were on the Maharashtra Assembly elections, where the position of BJP was not good. However, the BJP-led grand alliance again unified the organization at the grassroots level and performed so well in the assembly elections that the opposition was nowhere to be seen. In this election, BJP got 132 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde) 57, NCP 41 seats.

Last year, after Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump gave himself credit for the ceasefire with Pakistan. However, India has said many times in different forums that America had no role in the ceasefire. After the US President’s claim, Congress attacked PM Modi and started comparing him with Indira Gandhi against Pakistan.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said, ‘Indira Gandhi was a woman, but she had more strength than this man (Narendra Modi). Narendra Modi is coward. In 1971, Indira Gandhi was not afraid of America, did not bow down to them. If Narendra Modi has the guts then he can say that Trump did not stop Operation Sindoor.

Congress MP Imran Masood had demanded to make Priyanka Gandhi the face of the post of Prime Minister. Robert Vadra has also supported his statement. Praising his wife Priyanka Gandhi, he said that Priyanka’s political future is very bright and in the coming times many people would like to see her as the Prime Minister of the country. He expressed confidence that it is only a matter of time and it will happen.

Priyanka Gandhi has leadership potential: Robert Vadra
Speaking to news agency PTI, Robert Vadra said that Priyanka Gandhi understands the grassroots issues very well and believes in taking people’s opinion along. He said, ‘Priyanka understands the kind of change that is needed in the country. She not only expresses her views, but also listens to people. This will definitely happen when the time comes.

Priyanka talks about people
Vadra said that Priyanka Gandhi has got a deep understanding of politics from her family. He told, ‘Priyanka has learned a lot from her grandmother Indira Gandhi, father Rajiv Gandhi, mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi. People like her because she speaks from the heart and talks openly on important issues.

Support came after Imran Masood’s statement
This statement of Robert Vadra has come after the comments of Congress MP Imran Masood. Masood had said that Priyanka Gandhi can become a strong Prime Minister like her grandmother Indira Gandhi. Referring to the incidents happening with Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, he had said that Priyanka Gandhi would have taken strict decisions in such matters.

BJP’s attack on Rahul Gandhi’s statement
On the other hand, BJP has attacked Congress over the statements given by Rahul Gandhi in Berlin. BJP says that Rahul Gandhi tarnishes the image of India by going abroad. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, ‘The public no longer has confidence in Rahul Gandhi. INDIA alliance partners, Congress leaders and even family members are raising questions on him. According to BJP, this is why Rahul Gandhi is upset and is giving such statements abroad.

The death anniversary of India’s ‘Iron Lady’ and first Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is being celebrated today i.e. 31st October. On this occasion, on Friday, actor Shatrughan Sinha paid tribute to the first woman Prime Minister of India. Actor Shatrughan Sinha shared an emotional note remembering Indira Gandhi on social media platform X. In the post, he praised Indira Gandhi’s leadership, courage and her dedication towards the country.

Shatrughan Sinha wrote
Sharing the note, the actor wrote, “On Friday, we remember the Iron Lady, the strong-willed, former honorable Prime Minister, the great late Indira Gandhi Ji with heartfelt tributes and sincere prayers. She was most popular in India and abroad for her commitment, determination and ability to handle situations. Salute to her. Long live Indira Ji! Jai Hind!”

About Indira Gandhi
Indira Gandhi, daughter of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has grown up in a political environment since childhood. His early education was from Shanti Niketan. After this she went to Oxford University, England to obtain her degree. In the company of his father Nehru, he closely observed the freedom movement and from there the curiosity to go towards politics developed in his mind.

Identity created by the name of ‘Iron Lady’
In 1966, Indira Gandhi took office as the first woman Prime Minister of India and created history. Under his leadership the country saw many important political and economic changes. His strategic skills and strong decisions in the Indo-Pak war of 1971 led to the independence of Bangladesh.

Her victory not only strengthened India’s global identity, but also established Indira Gandhi as the ‘Iron Lady’ globally.

Indira Gandhi’s painful assassination took place on 31 October.
India became a nuclear power nation with the Pokhran nuclear test in 1974. Although the most controversial decision of his tenure was the imposition of emergency in 1975, his determination saved the country from many crises. On October 31, 1984, Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards. This painful incident had shocked and shocked the entire nation.
