In Indore, which is said to be the cleanest city not only in Madhya Pradesh but in the entire country, about 9 people have lost their lives due to contaminated water. The death toll of 9 is official, but BJP councilor Kamal Vaghela has claimed the death of 15 people. At the same time, in this serious matter, former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has raised questions on the Mohan Yadav government.

Taking cognizance of Indore contaminated water issue, Uma Bharti has made a post on social media platform X. He has written, “At the end of the year 2025, the deaths due to drinking dirty water in Indore embarrassed and tarnished our state, our government and our entire system. In the city which received the award of the cleanest city of the state, there was so much ugliness, filth and poison mixed water which has swallowed and is swallowing so many lives, the death toll is increasing.”

‘Government will have to repent deeply’

At the same time, Uma Bharti wrote, “Life is not worth two lakh rupees because their family members remain immersed in sorrow throughout their life. This sin will have to be deeply atonement. The victim will have to be apologized and all the criminals from bottom to top will have to be given maximum punishment. This is the hour of test for Mohan Yadav ji.”

BJP councilor said- had complained many times

Ward-11 BJP councilor Kamal Vaghela, while talking to ABP News, claimed that till now 15 people have lost their lives and the condition of one person is critical. He also claimed that 8 days have passed and the source of the leakage has not been known yet. The system is responsible for this negligence.

Not only this, the councilor also claimed that he has repeatedly given written complaints to the administration regarding this, but till now no action has been taken. He had said that he has also written a letter to CM Mohan Yadav. According to this letter, the file for the new Narmada pipeline was prepared on 12 November 2024. The officers kept the file in abeyance for 7 months. After pressure, the tender was issued on 30 July 2025, but the tender work was not completed within the time limit. Many times residents had complained to the MLA, councilor and mayor.

‘Complaints were made several times on CM helpline also’

Councilor Kamal Vaghela said that complaints were being received on 311, CM helpline for a long time. The Mayor had given instructions not to wait for the funds of Amrit Yojana, but to start the pipeline work immediately, but the officers did not follow the Mayor’s instructions.

The disease spread in the area on 29 December 2025. Ward 11 BJP councilor Kamal Vaghela complained in writing to the Chief Minister. The councilor claims that the negligence of officers has taken the lives of people. Such negligence of officers is a criminal act. Public health has been deliberately endangered. Punitive action should be taken against such officers.

In Indore, which is counted among the cleanest cities of Madhya Pradesh, 116 people have fallen ill due to contaminated water. 7 people died in this, while 36 people were discharged from the hospital. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava have reached Bhagirathpura on this incident.

Now the reaction of BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has come to light on this incident. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the incident is very sad, it is more important to help those who are suffering than to talk about whose responsibility it is.

What did Kailash Vijayvargiya say on the incident?

Kailash Vijayvargiya said that I and the mayor are present in the area. Here we are seeing that the number of patients is increasing. He said that all the patients coming are being treated at Primary Sanjeevani Hospital. He told that additional doctors and paramedical staff have been deployed here.

Kailash Vijayvargiya said that 5 ambulances have been installed here, through which patients are being taken to the hospital. The minister said that all the patients who are undergoing treatment in private hospitals have been asked not to pay money. Those who have deposited the bills, they are being given money from us.

Strict action will be taken against the culprits- Kailash Vijayvargiya

Kailash Vijayvargiya further said that strict action will be taken against the culprits. No one will be spared, because this is an unforgivable crime. He said that an inquiry committee has been formed for this. No officer will be forgiven. He said that this incident has broken us to the core. Whoever is negligent in this will be punished.

Regarding the deaths of patients, he said that it will be officially confirmed by the administration. Those who died will be given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh as per the announcement by the Chief Minister. He told that the local people of Congress are working with us to help the people. People coming from outside are creating ruckus and politics here, this is not the time for this. The opposition is just doing politics. What is needed now is to help people together.

What did the Municipal Corporation Commissioner say?

Indore Corporation Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav expressed grief over the incident and said that the Municipal Corporation is working on every front since morning regarding this incident. After the dirty water crisis in Bhagirathpura, the Municipal Corporation is working with full caution. Investigation has revealed leakage in the main line below the toilet adjacent to the post.

Due to this leakage, there was a danger of contaminated water getting into the pipeline. On the instructions of Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav, repair work was started immediately. After the improvement work, flushing, chlorination and sample testing will be done first. Water supply will be restored in the area only when the water lab report is completely satisfactory. The Commissioner has said that no compromise will be made with public health.

Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh on Wednesday (26 November) attacked the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. He alleged that a devious attempt was being made to convert democracy into an ‘autocracy’ through the ‘completely flawed process’ of SIR.

He said this while addressing Congress workers in Indore on Constitution Day. Digvijay Singh said in a meeting organized near the statue of Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at Geeta Bhawan intersection of the city that the process of SIR is ‘completely flawed’.

Digvijay Singh targeted regarding SIR

Taking aim at SIR, Digvijay Singh said, “A devious attempt is being made to change the Constitution of India from democracy to autocracy.” Our voter list is being tampered with. This tampering is not limited to the voter list only. Your citizenship is also being questioned.

Singh further said, “Democracy is in danger in the country today. We have to decide whether there should be dictatorship or democracy in the country?” Giving examples of dictators like Hitler and Mussolini, he said that in ‘autocracy’ only one person rules and the common people are not heard anywhere.

Earlier this responsibility was of the government and the commission – Digvijay Singh

The Rajya Sabha member said that in the SIR that was conducted in the country till 2003, it was the responsibility of the government and the Election Commission to add the name of every eligible citizen to the voter list, but under the current process of SIR, proof of their being voters is being sought from the citizens themselves.

The senior Congress leader raised questions on the Election Commission removing the names of about 65 lakh people from the draft voter list under SIR in Bihar and said, ‘Were these people not citizens of this country?

He further said that there is often talk of infiltrators, but did they (Election Commission) find even a single infiltrator in Bihar? Singh administered oath to Congress workers in the meeting to save the Constitution. On this occasion, another Rajya Sabha member of the party, Vivek Tankha was also present.
