On June 5, the total water released in Punjab, Pakistan was 1.24 lakh cusecs, which is less than 1.44 lakh cusecs recorded on the same date last year. The water level in the Tarabella dam of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was at 1,465 meters, which was slightly above the dead level of 1,402 meters.

The situation in Sialkot was particularly serious
The Chashma Dam on Sindhu in Punjab, Pakistan was 644 meters, which was close to 638 meters of its dead level. The water level in Mangla Dam on Jhelum in Mirpur fell to 1,163 meters, which was close to the 1,050 meter limit. There was a debate in the Pakistani Parliament on Friday (May 23, 2025) over the postponement of the Indus Water Agreement. Senator Syed Ali Zafar said in his address that the issue of water is as important for Pakistan, as the issue of terrorism. This is also a war that has been imposed on us. ‘If we do not solve this issue of water, then we can die hungry’
He said that Pakistan is a water stress country, which is the highest rank in the world in this matter. The country is moving rapidly towards water scarcity today. There are two reasons for this, the first is the clue change and the second is the population. Therefore, this panic is as important as it is.

Pakistani MP Zafar said that if we do not solve this issue of water, then we can die hungry. The reason for this is that Indus Basin which is our lifeline. Three quarters of water comes from outside. He further said that 9 out of 10 people are spending their lives with the help of Indus Water Basin. 90 percent of crops depend on this water.

‘The water bomb is lying on us, which we have to defuse’
Syed Ali Zafar said that all the dams all the dams in Pakistan are made on this water. So we understand that this water bomb is lying on us which we have to defuse.
