The report states that the objective of Locked Reels is to give a tool to the creators who want personal or limited interactions with their audiences. Users can lock content for a particular group, fan base or community. The creator can also give a hint with the reel, such as “my stomach name” or “my birthday” so that only the right people can unlock that video.

With the introduction of this feature, the angle of content monitization or exclusiveness on Instagram can also increase, although the company has not talked about any paid subscription about it.
