Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), crying about the economic situation of his country, appealed to the IMF managing director Christalina Georgree for mercy. The country, which always cry about the economic situation, has made an excuse for flood this time. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has urged the IMF to take into account the economic situation of his country before the review of the IMF on Thursday (September 25, 2025).

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), “Whatever commitments are being done with the Pakistan International Monetary Fund (IMF), continuously fulfilling them, but IMF is urged to take care of the damage caused by the recent floods in his upcoming review.”

UNGA Shahbaz Sharif commented during the 80th session

Shahbaz Sharif made this comment during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The 7 billion bailout package given by the IMF i.e. Expended Fund Facility (EFF) is to be reviewed on Thursday (September 25, 2025). The fund was approved in May 2025. This review will assess Pakistan’s performance for the 2025 March-June quarter.

There was a second review about this in August, but Pakistan had failed to achieve three targets. The Finance Ministry had stated in its financial report that no provincial government could achieve the target of savings of 1.2 trillion Pakistani rupees. At the same time, Pakistan’s total fiscal deficit was 5.4 percent (6.2 trillion rupees) of GDP, below the target of 5.9 percent of the IMF.

Imf 50 conditions were placed in front of Pakistan for bailout package

The IMF laid around 50 conditions under the Bellout Package, some of which are reviewed on quarterly and annual basis and the approval of the next $ 1 billion installment to Pakistan depends on these.

A report by Pakistan’s brokerage house topline securities claimed that Pakistan is on the way to fulfill all the seven quantitative performance norms (QPC) set by the IMF.

Pakistan’s Information Department issued a statement

According to Pakistan’s leading media group Dawn, the Pakistani Information Department (PID) issued a statement after a meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz and Georgiya. It said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif urged in the meeting that it would be better if IMF reviews the impact on Pakistan’s economy due to the recent floods. According to PID, Georgiya expressed her condolences to all those affected by the floods.

World Bank on Rising Poverty in Pakistan: The whole world knows about Pakistan’s financial condition. The Pakistani government is begging the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and many countries of the world to run their country’s expenses. On the other hand, the government does not have money to feed the citizens of its country, but it has to fight the war with India.

Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, a report of the World Bank has now surfaced, Pakistan’s financial condition has been completely exposed. According to the World Bank report, General Sales Tax (GST) has the biggest role in increasing poverty in Pakistan, while the country’s poorest families have been the greatest impact in reducing the inequality of the monthly Cass transfer program.

The report of the World Bank titled ‘The Effects of Taxes and Transfers on Iniv ways and Poverty in Pakistan’ stated that GST payment in Pakistan is more than 7 percent of the pre-tax expression. This is the reason that the situation of poor and weaker sections in Pakistan is getting worse.

Pakistan’s GST is the reason for increasing poverty in the country

Pakistan’s newspaper Don on Sunday (May 25, 2025) cited the report of the World Bank, saying that when an individual fiscal instrument estimates the marginal contribution of an individual fiscal instrument or a marginal contribution of a marginal contribution of individual fiscal instruments, the effect on the poverty or inequality, when all the fiscal instruments are mixed together, it is clear. That GST has the biggest role in increasing the poverty of the country. Apart from this, it was also told in the report that the second biggest impact on inequality in the country is due to the expenses incurred on pre-primary and primary education.

To reduce inequality in the country Bisp effective

At the same time, Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), which provides monthly cash assistance to the poorest families, has proved to be the most effective in reducing inequality in Pakistan. According to the report, BISP does the largest marginal contraction in reducing cash transfer inequality.

On behalf of the IMF, it has been said that their top project is to keep inflation in the Medium Term Target Range of State Bank of Pakistan 5-7 percent. Its purpose is focused on the ongoing economic stabilization efforts in the country.

According to the IMF, Pakistani officials have also expressed their commitment to managing the country’s revenue properly. Under this strategy, the government there is carrying a target of keeping GDP surplus 1.6 percent in FY 2026. To achieve this, it is necessary to ensure massive economic stability. GDP surplus means production in the economy, being higher than consumption.

IMF completed Pakistan’s staff tour

IMF is helping Pakistan in this era of increasing inflation, declining foreign reserves, declining local currency in this era of economic upheaval so that the falling economy there can be brought back on track.

The IMF also said on Saturday that they completed their staff tour of Pakistan. During this period, Pakistan officials were discussed with the budget proposal of FY 2026, economic policy, reforms from funding. The IMF has also talked with Pakistani officials to continue the matter towards agreed on the budget in the coming days.

International Monetary Fund: Despite the refusal of India, in May 2025, when the IMF approved the second installment of $ 1 billion to Pakistan under the extended fund facility of $ 7 billion, it had to face a lot of criticism. Along with this, $ 1.4 billion was also given to Pakistan under the Climate Rejylines Loan Program.

During this time, India kept itself away from voting at the IMF board meeting. At the same time, the argument about this funding of IMF has been- Pakistan’s track record of IMF programs is poor and Pakistan can use these money to support terrorism. Now after all, the IMF has broken its silence on this. The IMF explained why Pakistan was given financial assistance despite India’s opposition?

That’s why IMF helped Pakistan

The IMF reported that the financial assistance given to Pakistan was part of the previous agreement and it was followed by general procedures. Julie Kosec, director of the Communications Department at IMF, said, “The Executive Board of IMF approved Pakistan’s EFF program in September 2024 and the first review done at that time was planned for the first quarter of 2025.” According to the same timeline, on March 25 of 2025, the IMF staff and Pakistani officials signed a staff-level agreement on the first review for EFF. Then that agreement was presented before our Executive Board and our Executive Board completed its review on 9 May, after which Pakistan was funded.

IMF cleaned

Julie further said, our Executive Board found that Pakistan has completed all the fixed reforms on time. The country has also taken some important steps towards economic reform. Due to this, the board approved the next installment of bailout.

Where do IMF come from money?

Along with this, there is another question, which will often come to our mind that where does the IMF who helped the countries struggling with the economic crisis come from? Let us also give you information about it today. IMF has three sources to get money.

The first is that when the IMF gives loans to a country, it also charges interest on it. Apart from this, it also charges some fees- it is a source of its earnings.

Many times the money near the IMF falls short, then it takes loans from other rich countries so that a needy economy can be helped.

IMF is an organization of 190 countries. When a country joins it, then he has to deposit a fixed amount in it. This is called quota. Every country puts money in this quota system according to its economy. The largest contributor (about $ 83 billion) in the IMF is the US.

Pakistan: Recently, a $ 2.4 billion bailout package was approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Under this bailout package, a second installment of $ 7 billion being received under Extended Fund Facility (EFF) was also given a loan of $ 1 billion and a new flexibility and stability facility (RSF) loan program. That is, Pakistan was given financial assistance of total $ 2.4 billion.

India kept itself away from voting

During this time, India did not participate in voting in the IMF meeting. In the United Nation, such a country has the right to vote ‘NO’. The same is not with IMF. Here either you have to vote in the side or keep yourself away from voting. Keeping itself away from voting, India expressed that it is against this funding being given to Pakistan. However, Pakistan spent much more than this before getting funding from the IMF. We are not saying this, but it has been claimed in a media report of Pakistan.

Spending before getting a loan

A social media user named Bharat, while sharing a media report in Pakistan, wrote, Pakistan spent more than this before getting a loan from IMF. Pakistan has suffered heavy economic losses during tension with India. According to a media report in Pakistan, “The expenditure incurred in Pakistan’s war has been estimated to be around 4 billion dollars. These include an estimated $ 800 million as well as many more expenses for drones and missiles such as obstruction in economic activities, reduction in business opportunities and adverse effects on GDP growth. ‘

It was also mentioned in the report that 25 million dollars have been spent daily on Pakistani military operations. These include alleged expenses on military personnel, in addition to logistic, fuel, maintenance of machines and weapons and cost of active war campaigns. After ‘Operation Sindoor’, Pakistan also carried out several attacks with drones and missiles across the border. It is estimated to cost $ 300 million.

Imf fund: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will review the package being given to Pakistan. This package has been given under Climate Regyl’s Loan Program. Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt gave information about this in a question asked to review the loans to Pakistan. He said in reply that India will present its case in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) board meeting in Washington on Friday.

“I am sure our executive director will favor India”

The Foreign Secretary said on Thursday that the Executive Director of India in the IMF will present the country’s side during the board meeting of the Global Financial Body. He said in media briefing, “I am sure our executive director will favor India.” He said, “The decision of the board is a different case … but I think the matter in relation to Pakistan should be clear to those who generously loose their pockets to save this country.”

Foreign Secretary Egyptian said that the results have not been shared by the IMF on many on 24 bailout packages approved for Pakistan. KV After the removal of Subramanian from the post of Executive Director of IMF, Parameswaran Iyer, Executive Director of World Bank, is currently handling this responsibility.

Pakistan approves $ 1.3 billion loans

In the last 10 years, Pakistan has received several bailout packages from the IMF. For example, the fund approved a $ 7 billion loan in September 2024, which was to be distributed in the year. Out of this 7 billion dollars, $ 1 billion has already been distributed. Apart from this, IMF approved a $ 1.3 billion loan related to climate change to Pakistan in March 2025. IMF loans are conditional and debt -ridding countries need to make structural improvements in their economies.

The Foreign Secretary alleged that Financial Assistance indirectly was able to fund its military intelligence including groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).

Working within Pakistan’s borders continues

He said, “Pakistan’s reputation as the center of global terrorism lies in many examples … I do not need to remind where Osama bin Laden was found and who called him a martyr.” He also pointed to a large number of terrorists, including the United Nations banned terrorists, who continue to work within the borders of Pakistan.

Foreign Secretary Egyptian’s statement came after the increasing concern that the financial assistance given to Pakistan can be used to promote its ongoing border terrorist activities, especially against India. Pakistan, which is currently facing a serious economic crisis, is highly dependent on IMF assistance through its extended fund facility (EFF).

Terrorist camps targeted in Kashmir

On May 9, the IMF review will determine whether Pakistan meets the conditions required to unlock the next installment of financing. However, the review time is particularly sensitive, coming only a few days after India’s “Operation Sindoor”, in which terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir were targeted. This development has emphasized India’s call for revaluation of Pakistan’s financial assistance. Recently, tension between India and Pakistan started on 22 April with a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

Pakistan loan review: Today is very important for Pakistan. Amid the ongoing military action with India, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will review the loan being given to Pakistan today.

In this connection, a meeting of IMF executive officers is going to be held with Pakistani officials, which India is closely monitored and now India is preparing to surround Pakistan on the economic front. In this meeting, the Executive Director of India will present his side on behalf of the country, in which a loan of $ 1.3 billion to be given to Pakistan will be discussed.

World’s eye on IMF’s decision

Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry was asked about India’s stance about the IMF loan given to Pakistan at a press conference, he said, “We have an executive director in the IMF. Tomorrow (Friday) is a board meeting of the IMF and I am sure our executive director will favor India.

Pakistan has to meet IMF so much debt

Let us know that in the meeting to be held today, Pakistan has to get a loan of $ 1.3 billion (about Rs 11,000 crore) from the IMF under the Climate Rejyl from the Climate Regulation Loan Program, it will be reviewed. Apart from this, a bailout package being given to Pakistan will also be reviewed through the 7 billion $ 7 billion Extest Fund Facility (EFF) program. Its first installment has already been given to Pakistan and now the remaining 6 billion dollars are to be given in the coming 37 months.

IMF will have to decide carefully

Mistry further said, “The board members of IMF will have to take a decision on the basis of facts. The board’s decision is a different case as it is taken through a process. But I think that in the case of Pakistan, they should know themselves, to save the country, they open their pockets openly. In the last three decades, several IMF Bailout Program has been approved. How many of these programs successfully reached their outcome- probably not many. Therefore, I believe that this is a decision that the board members have to look deep into themselves and investigate the facts. ”

Let us know that the bailout program is a way through which the IMF or the bank gives a loan to the sinking economy or company of a country to revive. Pakistan has so far spread his hand 24 times in front of the IMF. Here, the Government of India is urging many other agencies including the IMF to think about the funding or loan given to Pakistan and put it in the gray list.

 International Monetary Fund: International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board meeting is going to be held on 9 May. It will consider the $ 1.3 billion staff level agreement with Pakistan, which is part of the 37 -month bailout program running with Pakistan. & Nbsp;

The first review of this 37 -month deal on 9 May

Let us know that in July 2024, Pakistan made a deal of $ 7 billion from IMF. Six reviews of this 37 -month deal are to be done. Its second review is to be done on 9 May. If it gets approval, Pakistan will be given a $ 1 billion installment.

(For Pakistan, this deal matters a lot because inflation is at its peak in the country, foreign exchange reserves have decreased, the stock market continues to decline. Earlier in March, IMF and Pakistan had agreed to the 28-month staff-level deal in March, which was aimed at reducing the impact of climate change and supporting Pakistan’s efforts to reduce the impact of climate change."Text-Align: justify;"> Help to improve the economic situation

When the IMF team visited Pakistan in March as part of a 37 -month bailout program, it was found that Pakistan has taken several measures for economic reforms, such as keeping interest rates high to control inflation, the energy sector was found to be improving. Bellout is actually a way to provide financial assistance to a country facing financial threat to improve the economic situation there.

If this time the executive board is approved, Pakistan will get an amount of $ 1 billion under the extended fund facility (EFF). With this, a total divide will be $ 2 billion under this program. Earlier in September 2024, the first installment of $ 1.03 billion was given. Pakistan is a member of the IMF since 1950, which has spread the hand 24 times in front of the IMF due to reduced dependence on imports and economic instability in the country. & Nbsp;
