Australia Study Scholarship: After 12th, every Indian student dreams of going abroad to complete his studies. That too, especially in a country like Australia, where universities are famous all over the world for their excellent education and research. This is the reason why millions of students dream of going to Australia to study. However, studying in Australia is not considered cheap, because fees of lakhs of rupees may have to be paid for studying here.

In such a situation, Australia has come up with a special offer to fulfill the dreams of foreign students. Under this, they are going to get a chance to study for free. Not only this, but the student will also be provided with accommodation and will also get an air ticket to come to Australia.

Along with the fees, the cost of living is also huge.

While studying in Australia, not only tuition fees but also a lot of money is spent on accommodation and daily needs. In such a situation, Australia has started applications for the 2027 round of its ‘Australia Awards Scholarship’. Under this, students from developing countries get fully-funded scholarships. The Australian Government has said that the students receiving the scholarship will get the opportunity to study Bachelors and Masters in all the universities which are part of this award. Also, this scholarship is being funded by the Australian Government itself and its objective is to prepare future leaders with the necessary skills and leadership qualities, who can go to their country and contribute to the development there.

What will you get under scholarship?

Australia Awards Scholarships are considered competitive and prestigious, for which a large number of students apply. Under this, tuition fees will be waived, because the government itself is bearing the entire cost of education. The student will also get a round trip air ticket. Under the scholarship, the student will be given a lump sum amount for accommodation, books and study materials. Besides, the overseas student health cover of the student during his studies will also be covered by the scholarship. Stipend will also be given for daily expenses.

What are the necessary conditions to get scholarship?

This scholarship is available only to those countries which are part of the award. Let us tell you, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has released the list of these countries. To receive the scholarship, the student must demonstrate leadership qualities and commitment to his or her community. They will also have to prove that they will be able to make a significant contribution to their study community.

The candidate has to show leadership abilities, responsibility towards society and willingness to contribute to the development of his/her country. Apart from this, the selected students are also required to return to their country for at least two years after completion of their studies. Its purpose is that the student’s country can also benefit from the skills he has learned during the course.

Study in India: Today, India is gaining recognition across the world not only for its food, culture and festivals, but also for good education. Students from Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Africa and many Asian countries like to come to India and study. At the same time, courses like medical, engineering, management and IT are available in India at a good level at a low cost. This is the reason why every year thousands of foreign students leave their homes and come to India to pursue their studies. Also, big colleges and universities of India are now making their own identity in the world.

According to the report, every year more than 70 thousand foreign students come to study in India. According to the government, in the year 2025, about 72,218 foreign students were studying in different colleges and universities of India, who have come from about 200 countries. Along with modern technology, good education and better environment is also available in the education here, which attracts the students.

Better education at less cost is making India special

If we talk about the cost of education, then the cost of education in India is much less as compared to foreign countries. Whereas in America, Britain or Australia lakhs of rupees are spent, in India the same level of education can be done for less money. This is the reason why poor and middle class foreign students are considering India as a better option. Besides, the Government of India is also running many scholarship schemes for foreign students. Like ICCR Scholarship (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), every year more than 3000 foreign students get a chance to study in India.

Apart from this, there is also Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme, which is a special scheme run under ICCR, in which students from more than 100 countries are given scholarship to study in colleges and universities of India. It is believed that India is becoming especially popular for medical and technical studies. Many foreign students say that along with their studies, they also get a family-like environment in India. The culture and behavior of the people here quickly makes them their own.

Also read: Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (Inspector) main examination today, 36 thousand candidates will appear for 1799 posts.

Indian students are also going abroad in large numbers

On one hand, foreign students are coming to India, while on the other hand, lakhs of Indian students are going to study abroad every year. According to the report, in the year 2024, about 13.35 lakh Indian students were studying abroad. In which Canada, America, Britain, Australia and Germany remain the first choice of Indian students. At the same time, maximum number of 4.27 lakh Indian students are studying in Canada. Also, more than 3.37 lakh Indian students are present in America. The desire to get good jobs, big universities and international experience is pulling the youth towards foreign countries. However, now good colleges and new facilities are increasing rapidly in India too, due to which the picture may change in the future.

India is becoming strong in the world on the basis of education

India is no longer just a country that teaches students, but is also moving towards becoming a major education center of the world. The increasing number of foreign students shows that the world’s trust in India’s education system is increasing. The new education policy, digital education and modern facilities have made India stronger. In the future, if India pays more attention to its colleges and research, then more students from the world can come to study here.

US Green Card Rules: Big news has come for thousands of Indians waiting for permanent citizenship i.e. green card in America. The Donald Trump administration on Friday announced the implementation of a new rule, under which immigrants applying for a green card will now have to leave the US and return to their country and complete the application process from there.

Till now, many people used to apply for Green Card through the “Adjustment of Status” process while living in America, but after the new rule, it will not be easy to do so.

USCIS issued new guidelines

In the new guideline issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), it has been said that people wishing to get a Green Card will no longer be able to apply normally while living in America. They will have to return to their home country and apply through the US Embassy or Consulate.

Green card is an official identity card, which gives a foreign citizen the right to live permanently in America. Green card holders can live anywhere in America, work in most companies, study and can move in and out of America under the rules. Later he can also apply for American citizenship.

“Now you will have to apply after returning home.”

USCIS spokesman Jack Kahler said, “From now on, anyone living temporarily in the United States who wants a green card will have to return to their home country and apply. Exemptions will be granted only in exceptional circumstances.” He said that this step has been taken to implement the basic objective of the law so that people follow the American immigration system properly.

Impact on students and H-1B visa holders

This decision may have the biggest impact on international students, professionals working on H-1B visas and people living in America on tourist visas. These people were hoping to get permanent citizenship without leaving America. Kahler said, “We are eliminating the loopholes in America’s immigration system. The system will no longer be allowed to be abused.”

Investigation will be done on case to case basis

According to the new policy memo, now getting a green card through “Adjustment of Status” while staying inside America will be considered an extraordinary relief. Immigration officers will investigate such cases on different basis. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a social media post, “People who have come to the US temporarily and want a green card, they will have to return to their country and apply. This policy is designed to keep the immigration system running according to the law. The era of abuse of the system is now over.”

USCIS explained the reason for the change

USCIS says that this new rule will reduce the incidents of illegal stay in America after the visa period is over. Besides, the problem of people going missing after the green card application is rejected will also be stopped. “Nonimmigrants such as students, temporary workers, and tourists come to the United States for limited periods of time and for specific purposes. Their travel should not serve as the first step in the green card process,” the agency said.

Large number of Indians may be affected

In the financial year 2024, about 49,700 people of Indian origin had acquired American citizenship through the Green Card process. In this case, Indians were the second largest group after Mexicans. The share of Indians among the total recipients of American citizenship was 6.1 percent.

Destruction in North Israel, pressure on the army and exhausting wars…time for ouster from power, countdown begins for Benjamin Netanyahu

USCIS enumerated the benefits

The US administration says that sending the green card application process to US embassies abroad will reduce the pressure on USCIS resources. This will allow the agency to pay more attention to citizenship applications, visa applications from victims of violent crime and cases related to human trafficking.

Australia Student Visa Rules: The number of students going abroad for studies is continuously increasing across the world. Especially thousands of students from India go to Australia every year. But now the Australian government has taken a big decision regarding international students. The government has announced a ban on registration of new private colleges and training institutes for the next 12 months. This means that now no new private institution will be able to easily get approval to teach foreign students. The government says that this step has been taken to make the student visa system strong and reliable.

Why was this big decision taken?

According to the Australian Government, for some time the number of such private institutions was increasing which were opening only to earn money. Besides, questions were also being raised regarding the quality of education in these institutions. The recent “Nixon Review” report revealed many shortcomings in the student visa system and the international education sector. The report said that at some places the rules were not being followed properly. After this, the government decided that the approval of new private colleges should be put on hold for the time being so that the system can be properly examined and bad institutions can be stopped.

Which institutions will be affected and who will be left out?

The government has made it clear that this ban will apply only to new private colleges and institutions providing English language training. The institutions which are already working with prior approval will be able to continue their studies. Besides, they can also open new campuses or make changes in their courses. Whereas government schools, TAFE institutions and public universities will not be affected by this decision. Australian officials say that their aim is to promote good and trustworthy institutions so that students can get the right education and better environment.

Government said- there will be no compromise on the quality of education

Australia’s Assistant Citizenship Minister Julian Hill said that Australia still welcomes genuine and studying international students, but strict rules are necessary to maintain people’s trust in the system. He said that in the recent past, many new private institutions were rapidly coming into the market, while the number of students in some sectors had started slowing down. The government was afraid that the opening of more institutions might affect the quality of education.

According to Julian Hill, this temporary stop will give officials time to properly examine the system. Especially in the vocational education and English language training sector, it will be seen whether more institutions have been opened than necessary. The government says that for Australia to remain recognized as a good study destination, the quality of education, student experience and proper monitoring of institutions are very important.

What will be the impact on Indian students?

The Australian government has also made it clear that the doors of the country are not being closed to genuine and studying students. The government says that this step has been taken only to stop bad and fake institutions. In such a situation, students who want to go to Australia for proper studies do not need to worry much. However, now students will have to be more careful while choosing a college. Experts believe that in the coming time, Australia’s education system may become more strict and transparent, which is expected to provide a better and safer environment to the students.

There have been many changes in the education sector in recent times, which have had a direct impact on the students. Especially there are reports of increase in fees of private universities and colleges, due to which there is an atmosphere of anxiety among the students. A major change has occurred in Ontario, Canada, where tuition fees for public colleges and universities are planned to increase. The objective of this decision is to stabilize the higher education sector and rescue it from the financial crisis. Now the question arises that which students will be affected the most by this increased fees.

Changes in the education sector in Ontario

This is a big change for Ontario, Canada. For the first time since 2019, colleges and universities are getting permission to increase tuition fees. In 2019, fees were cut by 10 percent to make higher education more affordable and accessible, but in the last few years, education institutions say that this decision has put a lot of pressure on the budget since then.

In particular, cuts in visas for international students have also increased the financial crisis and led to cuts in many programs and services. Now the Ontario government has adopted a new financial framework, in which colleges and universities will be allowed to increase tuition fees by up to 2 percent every year for the next three years. Thereafter, this increase will depend on the inflation rate and will not increase more than the three-year average inflation rate.

What is changing?

This change will impact students at many levels. First, Ontario’s colleges and universities will receive an additional investment of 6.4 billion Canadian dollars over the next four years to improve their financial stability, but on the other hand, increasing tuition fees will increase the cost of education for students. Fees will increase by about 18 cents a day for college students and by 47 cents for university students. This increase will have the greatest impact on students who already face high costs of living.

Changes in student aid

In addition, the Ontario government has also changed the structure of the student aid program. Now, students will get 25 percent of their total aid amount as a grant, and the remaining 75 percent will be given as a loan. This change may create difficulties for students who previously depended on grants. Critics are concerned the change will increase the debt of students who already face high living expenses. Opposition MPs say that due to increase in fees and cut in grants, the financial pressure on students will increase further.
Balance between institutional stability and affordability

People who support this new policy believe that this is a necessary step for Ontario’s colleges and universities so that they can overcome the financial crisis. The institutions have suffered huge losses in the last few years, especially due to the decline in international enrolments. However, experts are also warning that even a small increase in fees could prove costly for students who are already struggling with expensive fares and rising food expenses.

What does this mean for students?

The results of this policy may be mixed. For institutions, this policy may be a step towards financial stability, but for students it may become a challenge. Increased fees and dependence on higher loans can weigh heavily on students. This change could create even greater financial pressure for many students, especially those who already have limited resources.

What will be the impact on international students?

Canada has a particularly high number of international students, so under this new structure, international students may be at a greater disadvantage because their tuition fees are already higher. Therefore, with this increase they may face even greater financial challenges in completing their education.

US President Donald Trump has supported allowing foreign students to study in America. He said that it not only keeps the education system of the country strong, but is also very beneficial economically. While talking to Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump said that if the admission of foreign students is cut, many American universities will be closed.

Trump said, “If you stop half the students from all over the world, our colleges and universities will be destroyed. I don’t want to do that. It is good for students from outside countries to come, because we should keep pace with the whole world.”

Trump made a big claim

He claimed that half of America’s universities could be closed due to reducing the number of students from China and other countries. According to Trump, foreign students contribute trillions of dollars to the American economy and pay twice the fees as domestic students. He said, “I want to see our education system flourishing. It is not just a matter of inviting students, but it is a business model.”

Visa rules for international students strict

However, this statement has come at a time when the Trump administration has tightened the visa rules for international students. Thousands of visas have been canceled and some foreign students have been arrested or deported due to pro-Palestine activities.

When Ingraham suggested that reducing the number of foreign students would increase seats for American students, Trump disagreed. He said this would cause huge harm to small colleges and black historical universities.

Marco Rubio had taken a big decision

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio had earlier this year given instructions to temporarily stop student visa interviews. Now the administration is working on a new policy called Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education, under which it plans to limit the number of foreign students to 15% of the total undergraduate admissions and not allow more than 5% students from any one country. Many top institutions are opposing this proposal.

The US has implemented new restrictions for foreign students amid growing trade tension from India. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had imposed a tariff on India, now the Trump administration has issued a new decree regarding foreign students. In fact, the US administration has recently sent a 10-nine memo to the Universities of America. According to this, only 15 percent of international students will be able to take admission in Universities of America and the number of students of any one country will not be more than 5 percent.

Apart from this, the Trump administration has also asked American universities to reduce the registration of foreign students and improve some departments. Amidst the restrictions imposed on Indian students in America, let us know which countries other than America have better education options.

Know the effect of decision on Indian students first

The impact of the new memo of US administration will be seen on Indian students. Actually, a large number of Indian students study in America. After this decision of Trump, taking admission in American universities will be more difficult than ever, because the total number of foreign students in every university will be limited to only 15 percent and cannot be more than 5 copies of any one country. This means that competition will increase for Indian students and many students will not get admission. Apart from this, the university will also have to public the data of earnings after students’ GPA, test score, tuition fees and graduation. It is believed that after this decision of Trump, now Indian students will start looking for new options for studying abroad apart from America.

Germany Indian students choice

After the decisions of the US government, Germany is also considered a good option for the education of Indian students. Actually, tuition fees are not charged from international students in most public universities in Germany. Apart from this, international students do not have to pay more semester fees here. Also, there is permission to do part time job and post study work visa here. In such a situation, Germany is considered to be the best option for Indian students after America.

Canada is also a safe option

Canada is also considered a good option for Indian students. The university of Canada also has less tuition fees than America. On the other hand, if the students want, then you can also reduce tuition fees through many scholarships here. Along with this, many programs are also offered in Canada regarding business and health care, which students can also take advantage of.

Britain also in the list of Indian students

Britain is known for a place on one side and strong economy. At the same time, it is now being considered one of the best countries for the education of foreign students. The big reason for this is that in Britain, there is a chance to study in the top universities of the world. Which includes universities like Oxford and Cambridge. Apart from this, after graduation, there is also a job option through graduate visa.

France is also the choice of students

After America’s decisions, Indian students can also turn to France. In fact, the fees for international students in many universities in France are very low. Apart from this, the cost of living here is also different in different cities, due to which the small towns here can be economical for the students.

Harvard University Advisory to Students: Harvard University has warned international students coming to the US to be alert to social media posts and data in their electronic devices while entering America.

According to Bloomberg report, representatives of Harvard’s International Office and Harvard Law School Immigration Support Group gave this advice to the new students in an online support call last week. He also suggested some students to avoid entering America from Logan International Airport in Boston. This warning has come to light when Harvard University has obtained a preliminary injunction against the efforts of the Donald Trump administration, under which the government wanted to stop the enrollment of foreign students.

In fact, the Trump administration had earlier proposed under the rules that international students who are doing only online courses in America will not be allowed to stay in the country. Thousands of students would have to leave America or their studies would have been interrupted by this decision.

Mobile, laptop and social media profiles may be investigated

According to a report by Bloomberg, a immigration support team of Harvard’s International Office and Law School gave this advice in a group call. It said that the Border Security Officer can check your mobile, laptop and social media profiles. If something seems objectionable, entry into America can be stopped.

The students were told that if there is any Palestine or anti -American post in their phone or laptop, then there may be a problem. Even if the device is found completely empty, there can be doubt.

Students coming from Iran and China get this advice

Harvard University has also advised students coming from Iran and China to take precautions, especially if they are reading topics like Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths or Artificial Intelligence.

A university advisor said that Iranian students are more tested at Logan Airport in Boston, so they should come to America from JFK Airport in New York.

Many students involved in the call said that the immigration at New York, Chicago and Los Angeles airports may be a bit easier than Boston. However, no official information was given about this.

Us visa policy: Optional Practical Training (Opt) is an important part of the American immigration system. It helps foreign students studying on F-1 visa to achieve work experience for 1 to 3 years after completing the course. This is considered especially important for students studying in Stem (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). This program acts like a bridge for the H-1B work visa.

Standard OPT is 12 months. In this, the time increases for 24 months with the help of Stem Opt Extension. However, a bill presented in the US Congress in early 2025 has demanded to completely abolish the OPT program. This proposal has been introduced under the security of the US labor market and anti -immigrant strategies. If this bill is passed, it can destroy the career possibilities of millions of foreign students.
There will be a problem due to lack of opt program
Due to the elimination of OPT program completely, people studying may have to face many problems. The most impact of this can be seen on Indian students. Due to its end, there will be many problems, which are the following.

Access to H-1B visa will be limited.

The chance to get the work experience will end.

The career path in the US will stop for Stem students.

The possibility of repaying the loan for the students will be negligible.

Eastern Chothani, a major immigration on the case, says that if the bill is passed, students may have to leave America immediately.

Impact on Indian students
According to the Open Doors 2024 report, 331,602 Indian students are studying in the US in 2023-24, of which around 97,556 are part of the OPT program. This shows that this law will affect students from countries like India the most, as they enroll in stem areas on a large scale. American salary will not be available without OPT, which will make it difficult to repay the student loan. There will be uncertainty in future education plans. People associated with science and technology will migrate from America. Multinational companies may face a shortage of skilled talent.

Response of educational institutions and students
Major American institutions such as Cornell, Colombia, Yale etc. have informally advised their foreign students not to go home during the holidays. Many students have canceled the summer journey as they are afraid of not getting admission in America again. Some students are applying early for H-1B visa lottery. Many students are now looking for opportunities in countries like Canada, UK, Australia.

What is the option for students?
If Opt is finished, students should start the process of obtaining H-1B visa as soon as possible. Post-study work visa facility should be started in the UK. In Canada, the PR process and the student support system can be a better option. Large companies can transfer students to other countries through their global networks.

Serious questions on the future of Indian stem students
This initiative to eliminate the OPT program raises serious questions on the future of thousands of international students, especially Indian Stem students, who came to study in America. This step will not only affect the availability of skilled talent for the US, but can also reduce its reputation in the field of higher education.
