Olympics 2028, Cricket Qualification Criteria: Cricket will return after a long wait of 128 years in the Olympics 2028 to be held in Los Angeles. Earlier, cricket was included in the Olympic Games held in 1900. Now after the return of cricket after a long time, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made a special plan for the teams regarding qualification. So let us know how many cricket teams will be able to qualify.

So let us tell you that six teams each will participate in the men’s and women’s T20 tournament, in which the places of Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania will be confirmed. 4 teams have been confirmed for the women’s tournament through the 2026 T20 World Cup, in which Team India is also included. Apart from India, Australia, Great Britain (through England), and South Africa are included.

Men’s teams will be decided on the basis of T20 ranking. Under this, the highest-ranked qualified teams from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania by December 31, 2026 will advance to the Olympics, provided they are in the top-15 in the rankings. In men’s and women’s category, 6 teams each will enter the field for medals. Now it will be interesting to see which team wins the gold medal.

Host America will be eligible to qualify if it is inside the top-15 ranking during the qualification window. Now it will be interesting to see whether America can qualify or not.

The final standings for the women’s and men’s teams will be decided through the ICC Olympic Qualifier 2027, which will be held for the first time, in which 8 teams will participate.

West Indies cannot participate as a joint Olympic team. If they qualify, the regional representative for the Olympic Qualifiers will be decided by a Caribbean qualifier.

Petrol-Diesel Price Today: The month of May can give shocks to the public on the inflation front. It started on May 1 with commercial gas cylinders becoming expensive. Now another news may bother you. The news coming from government sources is enough to give sleepless nights to the common man. A huge jump in the prices of petrol and diesel can be seen in the coming few days.

According to government sources, the prices of petrol and diesel may increase by Rs 4 to 5 per liter because oil companies are incurring losses. The government is seriously considering revising fuel prices. If this happens, it will directly affect the freight transportation and the cost of your journey. That means, not only oil, but everything from vegetables to milk will become expensive.

Why can petrol and diesel become expensive?

In fact, after the Iran War and Hormuz crisis, fluctuations in international crude oil prices and global economic uncertainty are being said to be the main reasons for this. Oil companies have been pressurizing for a long time to increase prices to compensate for their losses. Although no official announcement has been made by the government yet, sources say that this decision can be taken at any time.

When petrol and diesel become expensive, it does not only affect the drivers, but everyone from the pump sets used in farming to the delivery boys gets affected by it. That means the price of every item increases.

Big decision of Hotel Association, customers will have to pay for expensive cylinders, prices will increase in restaurants

Fuel prices were stable for some time, which brought some relief to the public. But now this possible increase is going to act as ‘ghee in the fire of inflation’. If you want to fill your tank then now is probably the right time.

Petrol-Diesel Price Hike News: There is going to be such a storm of inflation in the country which will spoil the entire mathematics of your house. Such news is coming out from the government corridors, which is going to directly rob your pocket. Sources have said that the government is going to take a major decision on oil prices within the next five to seven days.

According to government sources, the government is keeping a close eye on the changing conditions in West Asia and its impact on the global energy market. Even though the final approval has not been given yet, the indications are clear that there may be a sharp increase in the prices of petrol and diesel very soon. There is a sword hanging over the head, because internal discussions are in full swing and officials are assessing how much burden should be put on the public.

Big decision of Air India, 100 flights will be cut daily, inflation stopped flights

There is a possibility of increase in the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 4 to 5.

Let us tell you that there is a possibility of a rise of 4 to 5 rupees in the price of petrol and diesel. The government is currently standing at a ‘crossroads’. On one hand there is financial pressure of oil companies and on the other hand there is fear of rising inflation. But the public now needs to step in cautiously, because if these prices increase, it will directly impact your plate and your journey.

Any increase in the prices of fuel and cooking gas has a wide-ranging impact. When diesel becomes expensive, the fare of trucks increases and when the fare increases, everything from fruits and vegetables to essential goods becomes expensive. This is going to be a tough task for the middle class, because the household budget is already stretched.

Big decision of Hotel Association, customers will have to pay for expensive cylinders, prices will increase in restaurants

Government trying to strike a balance – Sources

Sources said that the government is currently trying to strike a balance so that inflation does not go out of control, but in this era of global uncertainty, this is a very sensitive policy decision. Alarm bells have rung and the picture is expected to become clear in the next week.

Petrol-Diesel Price News: Another big inflation bomb is about to explode in your pocket. The prices of petrol and diesel are going to increase in the country. Government sources have indicated that a huge increase in the prices of petrol and diesel cannot be ruled out in the near future. This means that the prices which were stable for the last four years, are now ready to spoil your budget.

Crude oil prices are on fire

Government sources told news agency PTI that there is panic in the global oil market due to the increasing war between America and Iran and stalled peace talks. This time international crude oil prices have reached the highest level of four years of $ 126 per barrel. Now the eyes of the whole world are fixed on the ‘Strait of Hormuz’.

Why will prices increase in India?

In fact, the losses of government oil companies are now becoming unbearable. Retail prices were kept stable for the last four years, but now the situation has changed. According to Oil Ministry officials, companies are incurring a loss of about Rs 20 per liter on petrol and about Rs 100 per liter on diesel. Crude oil, which was 70 dollars last year, now averages beyond 114 dollars.

Earlier it was estimated that oil prices in the country could rise by Rs 25 to Rs 28 per litre. However, these reports were completely rejected by the government.

Recently, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) issued a statement on behalf of the industry saying that despite the huge increase in international energy costs, there is no increase in the rates of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG.

LPG gas cylinder became expensive today

Let us tell you that today, on the first of May, companies have increased the prices of commercial LPG, industrial diesel and jet fuel. Now it is the turn of common man for petrol and diesel. At present petrol in Delhi is Rs 94.77 and diesel is Rs 87.67.

India Oil Gas Reserves News: India’s government oil companies have done such a feat across the seven seas, which can brighten the fortunes of the country. Amidst the Iran war and Hormuz tension, India has found a new reserve of oil and gas in the ‘Ghadames Basin’ of Libya. This success has been achieved by a consortium led by Oil India, which also includes Indian Oil. This discovery was made in a block named ‘Area 95’ of Libya.

According to reports, the companies drilled to a depth of about 8500 feet in the ground. It is being said that about 352 barrels of crude oil is coming out from there every day. Not only this, more than 600 standard cubic feet of gas is also available there every day.

India was doing research for a long time

It has been told in the report that when the well was tested, hydrocarbons were taken out through a 24/64 inch ‘choke’ valve, which revealed its good pressure capacity. India was doing research here for a long time and now it has achieved great success.

What will be the benefit to India?

Let us tell you that India buys 85% of its oil requirement from outside. Having our own wells in foreign countries reduces the supply tension. When India’s own companies extract oil abroad, it is beneficial for the country’s economy in the long run. In a country with difficult conditions like Libya, this discovery has proved the mettle of Indian engineers and companies.

It is being said that in the coming time, India will be able to get its share of oil and gas from Libya, because this discovery is on land, hence extracting oil from here may be a little easier and cheaper than from the sea. This discovery can prove to be a ‘game changer’ for Oil India.

India has given a big relief to Sri Lanka amid the energy crisis caused by Iran’s war against America and Israel and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. India supplied a total of 38,000 metric tons of petroleum products to Sri Lanka as emergency assistance, which includes 20,000 metric tons of diesel and 18,000 metric tons of petrol.

Sri Lanka openly expressed gratitude to India after this help. According to the Indian High Commission in Colombo, this supply was made at a time when the global supply chain had been disrupted due to the Iran war and Sri Lanka was facing a serious fuel crisis. Prominent Sri Lankan opposition leader Sajith Premadasa also thanked India and said that real relationships are recognized in times of crisis, and India has proved this by supporting us in this difficult time.

China did not help

In January, Sri Lanka signed a $3.7 billion deal with China’s state energy company Sinopec to build a 200,000 barrel capacity oil refinery near Hambantota port. But China has not yet provided any help during the crisis caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This statement of Premadasa is being seen as an indirect criticism of China.

Force majeure and disruption in international supplies

Due to the war in West Asia, many international suppliers refused to supply fuel citing ‘force majeure’. Sri Lanka got into serious trouble due to shortage of ships and obstruction in sea routes. In such a situation, India immediately provided emergency supplies through Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Earlier on March 24, there was a phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anur Kumar Dissanayake, in which the situation in West Asia, disruption in supply chains and energy cooperation were discussed. At the same time, on March 23, Foreign Minister S. There was also a conversation between Jaishankar and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

Impact of fuel crisis in Sri Lanka

Due to the fuel crisis in Sri Lanka, the prices of petrol and diesel were recently increased by 25%. The price of petrol was increased to Rs 398 per liter and diesel to Rs 382 per liter. The situation became so serious that the government implemented a four-day working week and also promoted work from home.

Importance of Strait of Hormuz

About 20% of the world’s oil is supplied through the Strait of Hormuz. The situation worsened due to its closure. Sri Lanka is completely dependent on imported oil, hence this help from India proved to be a lifeline for it.

Share Crash: There has been a huge decline in the shares of Indian Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) i.e. IOC, BPCL and HPCL in recent times. Experts believe that there may be a further decline of up to 20 percent. The reason behind this is the rise in crude oil prices in the international markets, due to which the pressure on the balance sheets of these companies is increasing.

The Strait of Hormuz is closed due to the ongoing war between Iran, Israel and America. This is the route from where up to 20 percent of crude oil is supplied to all the countries around the world. India imports more than 40 percent of its oil needs. In such a situation, in recent times, due to attacks on energy infrastructures in the countries of the Middle East, the prices of Brent crude futures have crossed $ 100 per barrel. Till some time ago the prices had crossed almost $ 120 per barrel. Due to this, a big decline is being seen in the shares of Indian oil marketing companies.

Impact on profits of OMCs

OMCs’ marketing margins reduce due to increase in global crude oil prices. This means that the profit made on selling oil reduces. OMCs work on a counter-cyclical leverage model. That is, when losses or margin pressure increases, debt increases rapidly to handle working capital and under-recovery.

According to Equirus Research, this further increases the risk that if marketing losses continue without any change in prices in the current bullish phase of crude oil, then the balance sheet may again come under significant pressure due to increasing debt levels.

Government policies are also responsible

The government has recently reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per liter. This has also affected the profits of companies. This cut was made at an interval of approximately 22 months. Oil prices had remained stable since May 2022. Due to low retail price, the profit per liter of oil companies reduces. On top of this, if the companies have already purchased crude oil stock and now they have to sell it at a cheaper rate, then they also have to bear a separate ‘inventory loss’.

advice for investors

If you are thinking of investing in these shares, then first keep an eye on the government announcements regarding the price of crude oil. Experts say that unless margins improve, there will be huge fluctuations in stocks. Meanwhile, brokerage firm Kotak Institutional Equities has given ‘Sell’ rating to the shares of these companies.

In the 55th meeting of the UN Human Rights Council, India strongly retaliated on the issues raised by Pakistan and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IOC) on Jammu and Kashmir. India’s First Secretary Anupama Singh clearly said that all these things of Pakistan are false propaganda. IOC is dancing to the tune of Pakistan. He stressed that Jammu and Kashmir was, is and will always be a part of India.

IOC is a puppet of Pakistan

Anupama Singh, using the right of reply from India in the high-level segment, said, ‘We completely reject these allegations of Pakistan and IOC. IOC has become a puppet of Pakistan and is raising its voice for its political gains. This propaganda of Pakistan is full of jealousy. We don’t want to give it too much attention, but will break it down with some facts.

He further said that the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India was completely legal, which happened as per the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and international law. This can never be changed. The real problem is Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Indian territories. India appealed to Pakistan to vacate these areas.

Pakistan cannot tolerate the progress of Jammu and Kashmir

Anupama Singh mentioned the recent elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that there was a record voter turnout there, which shows that people have rejected the ideology of terrorism and violence being spread by Pakistan. Now he is walking on the path of development and democracy.

Taking a dig at Pakistan, he gave the example of Chenab Railway Bridge. This is the world’s highest railway bridge, which started in Jammu and Kashmir last year. Anupama Singh said, ‘If Pakistan considers it fake, then it is living in ‘la-la land’. Or perhaps he is unable to accept that the development budget of Jammu and Kashmir is more than double the recent IMF bailout package of Pakistan.

Pakistan embarrassed in UN assembly

This statement came in the United Nations meeting, where Pakistan again repeated its old routine regarding Jammu and Kashmir. India, as always, responded with facts. This incident happened on Thursday morning and the video is going viral on social media. PTI News has shared this video, which contains the complete speech of Anupama Singh.

The issue of Jammu and Kashmir has been a center of dispute between India and Pakistan for a long time. India says that this is its internal matter and Pakistan should not interfere in it. At the same time, Pakistan keeps raising it on international forums. This time India has shown the mirror not only to Pakistan but also to the IOC.

This development has happened at a time when human rights are being discussed all over the world. India has always emphasized on democracy and development. The recent changes in Jammu and Kashmir were cited as proof of this. Experts believe that such answers further strengthen India’s position.

Sports Medals History: In today’s time, medal is the biggest symbol of success in sports. But there was not always a tradition of giving medals. The practice of giving medals in sports is actually a modern invention. The roots of which are linked to the resumption of the Olympic Games in the late 19th century. Let us know how the tradition of giving medals started.

birth of medal

The tradition of awarding medals officially started with the 1896 Athens Olympics. These were the first modern Olympic Games. Although this system was quite different from today’s system. There were no gold medals in this first event. Instead, the first place winner was given a silver medal, olive branch and a diploma. The one coming second was given a copper or bronze medal and the one coming third was given nothing.

How were winners honored in ancient times?

There were no medals in the ancient Olympic Games, which began in 776 BC. The winners were decorated with olive garlands. It was a powerful symbol of honor, peace and divine grace in Greek culture. Public recognition and lifelong prestige mattered much more than material rewards.

How did the Gold Silver Bronze system start?

This three-tier medal system was permanently introduced in the United States at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. After this format, it was adopted worldwide and became a standard for competitive sports. The International Olympic Committee later awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to the winners of the 1896 and 1900 Games.

Who started the tradition of medals?

The credit for the tradition of modern Olympic medals goes to Pierre de Coubertin. He was a French teacher who restarted the Olympic Games and founded the IOC. His vision combined ancient Greek ideals with modern competition. The first Olympic medals were designed by the famous French sculptor Jules Clement Chaplin. The choice of these metals was not a coincidence. According to Greek mythology, this sequence reflects the age of man. Golden Age, Silver Age and Bronze Age. Golden Age means peace and perfection, Silver Age means decline and Bronze Age means conflict.

India has taken an important strategic step regarding the supply of crude oil. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has started diversifying crude oil sourcing amid increasing international sanctions on Russia and global supply uncertainties.

In this series, IOC has purchased crude oil from Colombia for the first time.

This deal has been done under the alternative supply agreement with Colombia’s government company Ecopetrol. IOC has purchased 2 million barrels of Castilla Grade crude oil, delivery of which is expected by the end of February.

So far the IOC’s dependence has been mainly on Russia and the Middle East.

According to Kpler, India’s Russian oil imports may decline to 12 lakh barrels per day in December. This change reflects India’s energy security strategy.
