Exports broke record in September also

In September last year, the company had exported iPhones worth $490 million, but this time this figure has increased to $1.2 billion. The reason behind this was the company’s opening of two new plants in India. In April this year, Apple’s supplier Tata Electronics’ Hosur plant and Foxconn’s Bengaluru plant were started. By combining these two, there are now a total of 5 iPhone manufacturing factories in India.

Last year’s record may be broken

According to the report of Economic Times, experts say that this year Apple’s production and export may exceed last year’s figures. However, it may face some challenges due to American tariffs. Let us tell you that most of the smartphones from India go to America. Between April and August this year, smartphones worth $8.43 billion made in India have been exported to America, whereas during the same period last year, smartphones worth $2.88 billion were exported. Apple is at first place and Samsung is at second place in exporting Made in India phones to America.

The company manufactures iPhones in India in partnership with Foxconn and Tata Electronics.

The Tata Group has acquired Taiwan’s company Vistron and after that he has got 60 percent stake in Pagatron India. Industry experts believe that with this change, India can do about 40 percent manufacturing of global iPhone cells in the next 18 months, which is 18-20 percent more than the present time.

This work will have to be done to double production

According to the ET report, government officials have stated that these companies will be supported to make India strengthen in electronics manufacturing.

IDC India Associate Vice President Navkendra Singh said, “According to our estimates, Apple has reached the scale of about 40-43 million iPhone production in the country and for exports, which is 17-20 percent of its global shipment in 2024.”

He said that to double the production of iPhone in India, production of 70-80 million units will have to be done every year. This will strengthen the growing scope of manufacturing ecosystem in the country. Apple suppliers have exported an iPhone of about Rs 1.5 lakh crore in FY 2025, which is more than an export of Rs 85,000 crore in FY 2024.
