Prithvi Shaw had posted a heartbreak emoticon on his Instagram story soon after going unsold twice in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, but when Delhi Capitals added him for Rs 75 lakh, the 26-year-old player had to delete his Insta story.

The base price of Prithvi Shaw was Rs 75 lakh. His name appeared in the accelerated auction of unsold players. However, once again during the day no one bought them. After this Shaw posted a story on his Instagram account, in which he wrote ‘It’s OK’. Along with this, Shaw also added a heartbreak emoji.

After some time, his name came up for the third time at the end of the auction. Eventually, Delhi Capitals bought him. Shaw deleted his previous post within six minutes and instead posted a picture of himself taking a selfie with Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel.

Prithvi Shaw titled this new post with a heart emoji – “Returning to my family.”

26-year-old Prithvi Shaw has played 5 Test and 6 ODI matches for India since making his debut against West Indies in October 2018. On July 25, 2021, he played a T20 match for India, after which he did not get a chance in any international match again.

Prithvi Shaw has played IPL only for Delhi Capitals since 2018. He scored 1,892 runs in 79 matches at an average of 23.94. During this period, 14 half-centuries came from Shaw’s bat.

This right-handed batsman scored 479 runs in IPL 2021 at an average of 31.93, which also included 4 half-centuries.

Prithvi Shaw scored 339 runs for India in 5 Test matches with 1 century and 2 half-centuries, while he scored 189 runs in 6 ODI matches. Shaw could not open his account in the only T20 match of his career.

Sarfaraz Khan remained unsold in the first set of IPL 2026 auction, but he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the second set. After this, CSK bought Rahul Chahar for Rs 5.2 crore, his base price was Rs 1 crore. Rachin Ravindra was also sold in the second bid, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sarfaraz Khan’s comeback

Sarfaraz Khan was bought by Chennai Super Kings for his base price (Rs 75 lakh). Sarfaraz has not played in the last 2 IPL editions, he was last part of Delhi Capitals in 2023. Sarfaraz has played for 3 teams (RCB, PBKS and DC) in IPL since 2015. In 50 matches played in IPL, he has scored 585 runs, he has been able to score only one half-century. If we look at his IPL record, he is still in search of his dream IPL season.

CSK also bought Rahul Chahar

Spinner Rahul Chahar was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last edition, although he got to play only 1 match. In that too he had bowled only 1 over. Before Hyderabad, he has played in Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians. He made his IPL debut while playing for Rising Pune Supergiants.

The base price of Rahul Chahar in the IPL 2026 auction was Rs 1 crore. His former franchise Punjab Kings also wanted to buy him, which went up to Rs 5 crore for him. But Chennai Super Kings included Chahar in their team by bidding Rs 5.20 crore. Chahar has taken 75 wickets in 79 matches played in IPL.

KKR bought Rachin Ravindra

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for his base price. Rachin’s base price was Rs 2 crore, when his name came up, KKR made the first bid. Apart from them, no other team showed interest in buying Rachin. Rachin has scored 413 runs in 18 matches for CSK in IPL.

Chennai Super Kings spent a lot of money on 2 uncapped players in the IPL 2026 auction. CSK bought Prashant Veer and Karthik Sharma for Rs 28.4 crore, making them jointly the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history. Whereas Delhi Capitals bought Aaqib Dar, who is making a splash in the domestic field, for Rs 8 crore 40 lakh. See which 7 uncapped players got the highest price in the auction this time.

Rs 14.2 crore- Prashant Veer (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings bought Prashant Veer for Rs 14 crore 20 lakh, his base price was Rs 30 lakh but Sunrisers Hyderabad was also trying hard to buy him. Prashant performed brilliantly in UP T20 League and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. CSK had seen Prashant closely in the trials also, only after which they played a big bet on him.

Rs 14.2 crore- Karthik Sharma (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings also spent Rs 14 crore 20 lakh for Karthik Sharma. Hyderabad was also bidding for Karthik, but keeping the purse balance in mind, Hyderabad had to back out. Prashant and Karthik have jointly become the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history.

Rs 8.4 crore- Aaqib Dar (DC)

Aaqib Dar made a lot of noise in domestic cricket, seeing which Delhi Capitals played a big bet on him. Aaqib’s base price in the auction was Rs 30 lakh. Aaqib’s specialty is his swing bowling, especially in the death overs. He has taken 15 wickets in 7 matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. His statistics show that he can become a game changer bowler in IPL also.

Rs 3 crore- Tejashwi Singh (KKR)

Tejashwi Singh Dahiya was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 3 crore. Earlier Mumbai was also bidding for him, later Rajasthan Royals also came. Tejashwi is an explosive batsman. His average in T20 is 56.5. Tejashwi scored a half-century in just 12 balls in the Delhi Premier League, in the entire tournament he scored 339 runs at a strike rate of 190. He hit 29 sixes in the tournament.

Rs 2.6 crore- Mukul Choudhary (LSG)

Mukul’s performance in domestic cricket was also excellent, he scores runs at a fast pace. This player from Rajasthan has scored 210 runs in 7 T20 matches at a strike rate of 165.35. On the day of the auction itself, he played an unbeaten inning of 54 runs in 28 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, in which he hit 3 sixes and 4 fours.

Rs 1 crore- Naman Tiwari (LSG)

20 year old Naman Tiwari is a left arm bowler. Naman has been bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 1 crore. Naman’s base price was Rs 30 lakh, Rajasthan Royals were also gambling to buy him but they stopped at Rs 95 lakh.

Rs 90 lakh- Sushant Mishra (RR), Ashok Sharma (GT)

Rajasthan Royals bought Sushant Mishra and Gujarat Titans bought Ashok Sharma for Rs 90 lakh each. The base price of both in the IPL 2026 auction was Rs 30 lakh.

The most expensive player sold in the IPL 2026 auction is Cameron Green, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 25 crore 20 lakh. He has also become the most expensive foreign player in IPL history. Apart from him, KKR also spent a huge amount of Rs 18 crore for Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana. Whereas Chennai Super Kings spent more than Rs 28 crore for 2 uncapped players Prashant Veer and Karthik Sharma. See who are the 7 most expensive players of IPL 2026 auction.

Cameron Green- Rs 25.2 crore (KKR)

Australian batsman Cameron Green was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 25 crore 20 lakh. Apart from KKR, Chennai Super Kings were also eager to buy him, but CSK made the last bid of Rs 25 crore. Green has become the most expensive foreign player in IPL history, breaking the record of his compatriot (Mitchell Starc).

Mathisha Pathirana – Rs 18 crore (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders placed the second most expensive bet in the auction on Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana. KKR had the highest purse balance in the auction, which they used well. KKR bought Pathirana for Rs 18 crore. He has become Sri Lanka’s most expensive selling player in IPL history.

Prashant Veer- Rs 14.2 crore (CSK)

Prashant Veer had performed brilliantly while playing for Noida Super Kings in the UP T20 League. He also did wonders with bat and ball in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Scored 192 runs at a strike rate of 160 and took 9 wickets in 7 matches of SMAT. After the departure of Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings was looking for a similar left-handed all-rounder, which is now complete. Chennai Super Kings bought uncapped player Prashant for Rs 14 crore 20 lakh, while his base price was Rs 30 lakh. Hyderabad also wanted to buy him, who raised their bid to Rs 14 crore.

Experienced South African batsman David Miller has been bought by Delhi Capitals for his base price. Miller is considered a big match player, who also has good experience in IPL. He was earlier in Lucknow Super Giants. Delhi Capitals bought Miller for Rs 2 crore.

The base price of David Miller was Rs 2 crore. Their bidding started, first no team bid, then Delhi raised its hand. However, no franchise showed interest in his name, due to which Delhi included him in their team for just Rs 2 crore. The Delhi camp looked very happy after this winning bid.

Indian Premier League 2026 will be the 19th edition of the tournament, for which the auction is taking place today. All 10 teams had released their retention list on 15th of last month (November). Let us tell you that there can be a maximum of 25 players in a team. The auction process is taking place in Abu Dhabi today to fill the remaining slots of the team.

david miller ipl career

Miller has played 141 matches for 4 IPL teams from 2012 to 2025, in which he has 3077 runs in his name. His highest innings in IPL is 101 runs. He has scored 1 century and 13 half-centuries in the tournament. Last year he was in Lucknow Super Giants, before this he has played for Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.

These players remained unsold in the first set

The first name to appear in the Indian Premier League auction was Devon Conway, who was not bought by any team. His base price was 2 crores. The biggest surprise was when no team bought Prithvi Shaw even at the base price of Rs 75 lakh. David Miller became the first player to be sold in this auction, who was bought by Delhi for his base price of Rs 2 crore. Australian explosive batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk also remained unbeaten in the first set.

Everyone was speculating about Cameron Green that he would get a huge amount in the IPL 2026 auction, the same happened. Kolkata Knight Riders had the highest balance in their purse, taking advantage of which they bought the Australian batsman for Rs 25.20 crore. However, due to the new rule, Green will get only Rs 18 crore. Know where the remaining Rs 7.2 crore will go, will the franchise benefit from it?

The auction for IPL 2026 is being held in Abu Dhabi. Australian batsman Cameron Green’s name was in the first set, before him Devon Conway and Jake Fraser-McGurk were unsold. It was already predicted about Green that he would become the most expensive player of this year. Chennai Super Kings along with KKR were trying their best to buy him. CSK had reached Rs 25 crore for him, but KKR made a bid of Rs 25.20 and included him in their team.

What will happen to the money deducted from Cameron Green’s salary?

Cameron Green will get only 18 crores. Rs 7.2 crore will be deducted from his salary, however, the amount of the bid will be deducted from the purse balance of the IPL franchise. That means only Rs 25.20 crore will be deducted from KKR’s purse. This means the franchisee will not benefit from it.

Let us tell you that the remaining amount will be redirected to the player welfare programs run by BCCI. This means that Kolkata Knight Riders will pay Rs 18 crore to Green, and the remaining Rs 7.20 crore will go to BCCI.
