The ‘Parchi Celebration’, which has been seen many times so far in IPL 2026, has come into controversy. Last Friday, Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Akash Singh took out the slip from his pocket after taking 3 wickets against Chennai Super Kings. It was written on that slip, ‘Akki on fire. Akash knows how to take wickets in T20. After this celebration, many veteran players have objected to the slip trend.

Till now many former cricketers have expressed their displeasure over this slip celebration trend. Veteran South African cricketer Dale Steyn expressed his displeasure through social media and said that this slip celebration should end, no one wants to see it.

Ambati Rayudu has also jumped into this debate. He said that the celebration done by Akash Singh was foolish. Rayudu even requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that this ‘Parchi Celebration’ should be banned. Let us tell you that in this season, Abhishek Sharma, Raghu Sharma, Urvil Patel and now Akash Singh also celebrated by taking out the slip from this pocket.

All this is rubbish

While discussing a show on ESPN Cricinfo, Ambati Rayudu said, “I think this slip celebration is ridiculous and stupid. In my view this slip celebration should be banned, it is complete nonsense.”

Former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan also agreed with Ambati Rayudu and said that such a celebration by Akash Singh is beyond comprehension. He further said that Akash has the experience of only 11 matches in IPL and he was playing his first match in IPL 2026. According to McClenaghan, there was no need for Akash to celebrate like this.
