Araghchi Islamabad Visit: Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to reach Islamabad late tonight with a small delegation. According to reports, Pakistani mediators are exploring the possibilities of a second round of talks between America and Iran. However, neither Iran nor America has yet issued any official statement regarding Araghchi’s visit.

Meanwhile, according to CNA report, President Donald Trump is planning to send his special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan in the coming days to participate in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Araghchi reaching Islamabad

According to Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’, this visit is taking place hours after the phone call in which Ishaq Dar and Araghchi discussed the US-Iran ceasefire and Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. It is being told that America’s logistics and security team is already present in Islamabad, which indicates preparations for possible talks.

Earlier, the first round of US-Iran talks held in Pakistan on April 11 and 12 could not reach any concrete result. After this, Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic efforts to reduce tension and continue talks.

Dar’s talk with Munir

According to Iran’s government agency IRNA, Araghchi’s visit is part of a larger regional tour, in which apart from Islamabad, he will also visit Muscat and Moscow. The purpose of this visit is to discuss bilateral relations, regional situation and the ongoing tension with America-Israel.

In this sequence, Araghchi has also talked to Ishaq Dar and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir. According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, issues related to the regional situation and ceasefire were discussed in detail in these talks.

Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic efforts to bring America and Iran to the negotiating table. Meanwhile, traffic remained paralyzed in Islamabad on Friday as officials await the visit of top leaders of the two countries for possible peace talks. However, the talks are currently stalled due to differences on key issues. The administration of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have closed many major roads and markets since Sunday keeping in mind the movement of VIPs. There were indications that talks could start any day this week, due to which security arrangements have been tightened and more than 10,000 security personnel have been deployed.

Roads, markets closed for 5 days

The situation is that the areas around Noor Khan Airbase have not been opened yet. Metro bus, electric bus services and goods transport have also not been restored yet. Roads, link roads, markets and banks around the old airport have been closed for the last five days, leaving people in areas like Shah Faisal Colony, Khalid Colony, Gulzar-e-Quaid and Fazal Town confined to their homes.

Metro bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad and electric buses plying on seven routes are suspended, while goods transport has also come to a halt since April 19, causing immense inconvenience to the common people. Additionally, the ‘Red Zone’ areas are still completely closed and employees of offices located there are forced to work from home.
