People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Nalin Prabhat to order the release of women detained during the protests in the Kashmir Valley against the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint strike by the US and Israel.

He told the police chief that this situation should be handled with compassion and sensitivity as this is a time of mourning for us. At least 14 people, including six security personnel, were injured during the protests that broke out after Khamenei’s death.
