US Iran Tension: A new twist has emerged in the tension between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he is reviewing Iran’s new proposal, but he doubts whether the proposal will be accepted. Trump clearly said that Iran has not paid enough price for its past actions.

‘Difficult to accept the offer’

“I will soon review the plan that Iran sent us, but I don’t think it will be acceptable, because they have not yet paid a heavy price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the last 47 years,” Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Conversation with journalists in Air Force One

Speaking to reporters, Trump said that he has not yet seen the proposal in its entirety. He said, “No, I haven’t seen it yet. I’m looking at it up (Air Force One)… I’ll tell you later.”

What is in Iran’s proposal?

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Tehran’s 14-point proposal offers a comprehensive framework to “end the war” on all fronts, including tensions related to Lebanon. This proposal rejects any temporary ceasefire and calls for a permanent solution within 30 days.

Security and military demands

In the proposal, Iran has demanded security guarantees to prevent future attacks, withdrawal of US troops from the region and removal of naval sanctions and blockade. Apart from this, Iran has also demanded the release of its frozen funds and compensation related to sanctions and military pressure.

Economic and strategic conditions

On the economic front, Iran has demanded removal of all US and international sanctions. Also, the proposal talks about creating a new system for the Strait of Hormuz, so that maritime trade remains smooth.

Proposal sent through Pakistan

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that this proposal has been sent through Pakistan. He said that its objective is to end the imposed war permanently and now it is up to America to decide whether it will choose diplomacy or confrontation.

Trump expressed strictness, military option also open

Donald Trump said that Iran wants to make a deal, but the leadership system there is “shattered”. He also indicated that military action could be taken if needed. “It is a possibility if they misbehave,” he said. On Iran’s missile capability, Trump said, “I would like to eliminate it. It would be a way for them to start building it up again.” Earlier, Donald Trump had said that America will not make any agreement in haste and any deal should be such that it ensures long-term stability, so that the situation does not deteriorate again after 2 or 5 years.

Chinese company’s operations closed in Gwadar

Hangeng Trade Company, operating in Pakistan’s Gwadar Free Zone, on Friday announced the closure of its factory and firing of all employees. According to a report by The Express Tribune, the company took this decision on International Labor Day, saying that due to “non-business reasons” and operational difficulties, it was not possible to continue the business. The company said that it was meeting international export standards, but its shipments got stuck, causing continuous losses. She was in touch with the authorities for the last three months, but no solution could be found, due to which she had to take this step.

Business closed after paying dues to employees

Hangeng Trade Company said it paid off all liabilities, including three months’ salary, fine, electricity bill and container demurrage charges, before closing the factory. The company also said that relations between Pakistan and China are strong and CPEC is a major project. However, the company clearly said that a clear and practical policy environment is very important for business. Also, the company thanked the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Planning for the cooperation, but also advised investors to assess the risks before investing in Gwadar.

Questions on CPEC and investors’ confidence

This development has come to light at a time when Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is going to visit China this month, where a Business-to-Business Investment Forum is to be organized. The news of closure of the company in Gwadar has raised new concerns about the confidence of foreign investors and the future of CPEC. Expressing regret over the layoff of employees, the company said that it was not possible to maintain employment in the current circumstances.

What did Trump say on military action against Iran?

When Trump was asked about this proposal before leaving for Miami from Florida, he said that he has been informed about this deal and its complete details will be revealed soon, but later he also said on social media that he does not think that this proposal will be accepted.

He also added that Iran has not yet had to pay as much of a price for its actions as it should have. When Trump was asked whether military action could be taken again, he avoided giving a direct answer and said that it remains a possibility. He said that if Iran did anything wrong, the situation could change. Some reports also say that this proposal includes setting a deadline of one month to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the US Navy blockade and end the conflict related to Iran and Lebanon. Only after this, a plan has been announced to start further talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Situation may worsen again – Iran

Iran has also made it clear that the situation may worsen again. Mohammad Zafar Asadi, a senior Iranian army officer, said that it is difficult to trust America and there could be another conflict between the two countries. At the same time, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that now it is up to America to decide whether it adopts the path of dialogue or continues confrontation. He also said that Iran is prepared for both situations.
