ITR Filing: If you are a salaried employee then you must be aware that 31st July is the last date to file ITR. Before this, it is very important for all employees to fill ITR. But merely filing the income tax return is not enough. If you do not file ITR on time, provide incorrect information about your income or do not follow tax rules, you may have to pay penalty, interest and late fees.

mistake can be costly
While filling ITR, it is very important for you to keep some important things in mind. You should avoid making any kind of mistake while filling it. Because if a person under-reports his income, then under Section 270A, a penalty of 50% of the tax on under-reported income can be imposed on him. At the same time, if wrong information has been given intentionally, wrong deduction has been claimed or some facts have been hidden, then huge fine may have to be paid. This penalty can be up to 200% of the tax.

Also read: Inflation News: From AC to car, from potato to LPG, these goods became cheaper, know what made them expensive?

Fine will be imposed on delay
There is a fixed time limit for filing ITR, if you file ITR after the stipulated time, then a late fee of up to Rs 5,000 may be imposed under Section 234F of the Income Tax Act. However, if your total income is less than Rs 5 lakh, then this fee will be a maximum of Rs 1,000.

Avoid making these mistakes too
There is not just one mistake but there are many other mistakes, if you do not pay attention to them, you can be fined. For example, for late submission of TDS/TCS return, you may have to pay a fee of Rs 200 per day. Businessmen or professionals who are required to maintain books of accounts but do not do so can face a fine of Rs 25,000. Those for whom tax audit is mandatory and do not get the audit done can be fined up to 0.5% of the turnover (maximum Rs 1.5 lakh).

If you want to avoid this penalty, then file ITR on time, give correct information about all your income, deposit taxes on time and keep the necessary documents and records correct. With this, notices, extra expenses and disputes with the tax department can be avoided.

Half of December has passed and the last month of the year, December, is considered very important for income tax payers. Before the end of the year, there are many important financial tasks whose deadline is being met on 31st December. In such a situation, if this work is not completed within the stipulated time, then the taxpayers may have to face fine, interest and other problems. Many experts also say that this could be the last chance for those who have not yet completed these important tasks. In such a situation, let us tell you today that half of December has passed and if you do not complete the important tasks now, then you may face problems.

Last chance for ITR

Taxpayers who could not file income tax returns on time can file delayed or revised e-return under section 139 (4) of the Income Tax Act.

delay return

Such taxpayers who could not file the original ITR even till 15th December. The last chance for them is 31st December. Those who have not filed the original ITR can now file the original ITR till 31st December. However, a maximum late fee of Rs 5000 may be imposed for this. Whereas for tax payers whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh, this fee has been fixed at Rs 1000. Apart from this, interest will also have to be paid on the outstanding tax.

revised return

Those who had filed ITR returns within the stipulated time. But he wants to correct or amend any mistake in the return. Such people can also file revised or updated returns till December 31. However, in case of unpaid tax liability, you may have to pay an additional penalty of 25 to 50 percent.

Last date for Aadhaar PAN link is also 31st December

For those whose Aadhaar card was made on or before October 1, 2024, it is mandatory to link Aadhaar and PAN card. This process will have to be completed by 31 December 2025. If the PAN card is not linked by the due date, it may become active, which may cause problems in banking, investment and filing income tax returns.

How to link Aadhaar-PAN?

To link Aadhaar-PAN, go to the e-filing website of the Income Tax Department and select the Link Aadhaar option.

After this select PAN and Aadhar number.

Itr filing new deadline: The last date for filling the Income Tax Return (ITR) has been changed. That is, those who have not yet filed their income tax returns for assessment year 2025-26, can now do so without any fine. Now the deadline for filing tax returns has been increased by one day to Tuesday, September 16. Earlier, the last date for filing ITR without any fine was Monday, 15 September. With this, now taxpayers with non-audit accounts can file their returns till 12 noon tonight.

Why increased deadline?

The date of ITR filing was extended because many people complained of technical disturbances on the e-filing portal. Due to this, people had difficulties in filing returns. Many more people including Chartered Accountants had complained on social media.

CBDT issued a circular saying, “The fixed date to file income tax return (ITR), which was originally on 31 July 2025, was extended to 15 September 2025.” CBDT has now decided to increase the date of filing these ITRs from September 15, 2025 to September 16, 2025. It was also informed in the circular that the e-filing portal will remain in maintenance mode from 12 noon to 2:30 pm on September 16, so the portal will be closed for some time. During this time some changes will be made in it.

ITR Filing deadline: The Income Tax Department has confirmed that the last date for filing income tax returns for financial year 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) will not be extended from 15 September, 2025 today. With this, the Income Tax Department denied the fake report, which was being claimed that the deadline for filling the ITR has been extended by 30 September 2025. The Income Tax Department says that not on these fake news, but rely on the official X handle of the Income Tax Department.

A fake news is in circulation stating that the due of filing itrs (Originally due on 31.07.2025, and extended to 15.09.2025) Has been further extended to 30.09.2025.

Non-audit taxpayers will have to be filled today

Today, non-audit taxpayers will have to file their ITR to avoid any fine. Let us know that the Income Tax Department had earlier extended the last date of filing ITR for financial year 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) from 30 July, 2025 to 45 days to September 15, 2025.

However, this deadline was not extended for taxpayers whose accounts are required to be audited such as companies, proprietorship and working partner in a firm. They have to file ITRs for assessment year 2025-26 by October 31, 2025. Earlier, the audit report has to be submitted by 30 September, 2025. So far, the Income Tax Department has not announced any detail in this deadline.

Land waiver option became active

The last date for filling ITR for non-audit taxpayers is today, but if he misses for some reason, then there is nothing to panic in it. The Income Tax Department has activated the option of delayed (Condonation of Delay) on the e-filing portal, giving relief to those taxpayers.

In fact, many times people are not able to file returns on time in emergency conditions such as hospitalization or any other serious reasons in the family, then they have been given the option to file a penalty or late return of a penalty. In such cases, the first applicant will have to appeal to forgive the delay and if the request is accepted, then no penalty will have to be given. However, to avail this facility, you will also have to offer enough evidence. If you have evidence, then you can avail this facility by the end of the assessment year.

Income tax filing deadline: Tomorrow is the last chance to file income tax return (ITR) on September 15, 2025. So far, more than 6 crore returns have been filed. In order to avoid any hurry at the last minute, the Income Tax Department has also arranged 24×7 support service for taxpayers. There is also speculation that the deadline to file returns can be increased further. However, nothing has been officially stated about this yet.

Meanwhile, some problems are coming out on the income tax portal. Many chartered accountants and taxpayers are not able to download their annual information statement (AIS). However, the problem is not in the entire system nor all taxpayers are facing it. It is possible that taxpayers trying to log in at the same time are facing such problems. Due to high traffic, the server is overloaded several times.

AIS & Tis Not Connected pic.twitter.com/fvn9au6vmp

Since, now there is only today and tomorrow’s time left in filing returns, so people are depositing their ITR. In such a situation, even though the portal works properly, it is unable to handle the requests of many taxpayers simultaneously. You understand it like a 4-6-lane highway, where some vehicles are slowly moving forward due to traffic jams, while some are going out in speed.

The Income Tax Department had said on social media on September 13, 2025, AIS can no longer be downloaded through any third-party software tool, so now the only way to download AIS is to log on to the e-filing ITR portal and then go on the AIS Compliance Portal (https://ais.insight.gov.in/compliaseportal/aisportn/ However, some users say that the portal is opening comfortably and AIS can be downloaded in a few seconds. At the same time, for some users, AIS is taking up to 10 minutes to download.

What to do now users?

You can use browser such as Microsoft Edge (version 88 or above), Google Chrome (88+), Mozilla Firefox (86+) or Opera (66+). Apart from this, Windows 7 or subsequent version or the latest version of Linux or Mac OS can also be used. Keep your browser cookies and site data clear and if possible, use high -speed Ethernet wired connection.

ITR Filing deadline: Now just two days are left to end the deadline for filing income tax return (ITR). The Income Tax Department said on Saturday that they have received returns of more than six crore people so far for assessment year 2025-26. While the professional body is urging the government to extend the last date. In view of this, the Income Tax Department has also advised all those who have not yet filed ITR for the assessment year 2025-26, they should file their returns as soon as possible to avoid hurry at the last moment.

Income tax department responded

The Income Tax Department said in a post on X, “Thanks to taxpayers and tax professionals who have so far helped us reach the target of 6 crore income tax returns (ITR) and this number is still going on.” Also, the department also informed that their helpdesk is working round the clock for filing returns and related services. This year, the last date for filing non-audit returns was extended from July 31 to September 15 due to delay in release of updated ITR form. The number of returns submitted so far is less than last year. By July 31, 2024, 7.6 crore ITRs were deposited. Till 13 September, this year the number was about six crores.

Demand to increase deadline

Professional bodies including Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (KSCAA), Central India Regional Council and Advocates Tax Bar Association (ATBA) wrote a letter to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), asking for the delays in the portal, delays, delays in utility services, some parts of the country demanded extending time Is. Many tax experts have also mentioned the difficulties faced in filing on social media. However, no official statement has come from the department to extend the deadline.

ITR Filing deadline 2025: The deadline for filing ITR is slowly approaching. It was first increased from 31 July to 15 September. That is, there are only a few days left to file returns. Now the most important question comes that what will happen if you cannot fill your income tax return (ITR) within the stipulated time? Let us give you complete information about this through this news today.

Late fee will have to be paid

Even after crossing 15 September, Section 234F of the Income Tax Act 1961 is implemented on those who do not deposit ITR. Under this, the Income Tax Department imposes fine to file late ITRs on taxpayers. Under this section, penalty is collected by the department. Penalty is imposed according to the income of the taxpayer.

How much penalty will be paid?

If your total income is more than Rs 5 lakh, then you will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.

If the total income is less than Rs 5 lakh, then you will not have to pay more than Rs 1,000.

If the income is less than the taxable limit, there will be no fine.
