Biggest mistakes of delaying ITR refund

• In fact, in most of the cases, the reason behind non-receipt of refund is not considered to be technical flaw but mistakes made during filing.
• Wrong bank details- If you made a mistake in the account number or IFSC code while filling the ITR, your ITR refund may get stuck.
• Difference in name- If there is a mismatch in the name in your PAN card and bank account, the refund may also be stopped.
• Bank account not being pre-validated- ITI refund comes only to that bank account which is pre-validated on the portal. Even if your account is not valid, your refund may get stuck.
• Not having PAN Aadhaar link- Even if your PAN card is not linked to Aadhaar, your ITR refund may be stopped.
• Wrong claim- If you have made a mistake in tax calculation or have claimed deductions that are not valid, the department may withhold your refund and investigate.

How to check where your refund is stuck?

• To check the status of ITR refund online, first go to the Income Tax website.
• Go to the website and log in with your ID and password.
• After this click on the e-file tab.
• Now go to the Income Tax Return section.
• Click on View File Return in this section.

First of all you have to go to the official website of Income Tax and login with user ID and password. Here you will get the option of Income Tax Return in the e-file category. Here by clicking on View Filed Return you will see your claim status. Before the refund is credited, it is important to ensure that your bank account is pre-validated, your return is filed correctly and your ITR is e-verified.

You can track your refund on NSDL-TIN website. After entering your PAN and selecting the assessment year, the page will display the details of the refund, including whether the refund has been issued or not, the amount and the mode used – check or NEFT. In the meantime, as the department continues its investigation, taxpayers can track their refund status online to ensure they do not miss any updates.

• If PAN is not link to Aadhaar.

How to check the refund status?

• First of all go to the income tax website www.incometax.gov.in and log in from your PAN and password. Keep in mind that the PAN card should be linked to Aadhaar. If this is not the case, then you have to click on the ‘Link Now’ option on the site and link it first.
• Now go to the top menu and click on ‘Service’. After this, choose the option of ‘Know Your Refund Status’.
• Go to the e-file tab and click on the ‘Income Tax Returns’ tab and select the ‘View Filed Returns’ option.
• You will see your refund status on screen.
