A shocking case has come to light from China, where a court in Southern China sentenced a woman to imprisonment. The woman is accused of accidentally killing her daughter while performing an exorcism ritual.

According to a report by South China Morning Post, the court of Shenzhen in Guangdong province in July sentenced a woman named Li to 3 years in prison, which was later suspended for 4 years. The woman’s elder daughter was also sentenced. The court had given this decision in July on the charge of murder by negligence.

Prosecutors said Lee and her two daughters were influenced by superstitious beliefs about hauntings. They believed that demons were attacking them and that their souls had been sold. In December last year, his younger daughter suddenly said that she was possessed by a demon and appealed to her mother and sister to perform an exorcism.

The victim’s daughter found some benefit from this and asked her family members to continue doing it. The next morning other family members saw blood flowing from his mouth and called the police. The court ruled that the mother and sister had no intention of killing and thought they were helping, yet their actions resulted in their daughter’s death, which amounts to negligence.

Various reactions were seen on social media in China regarding this matter. People demanded better science education and increased public awareness to combat superstitions. One person said that cult followers are generally stubborn. Instead of accepting the reality, they believe that the demon was very powerful.

Maulana Madani said, “Since independence, the governments have been trying to weaken the Muslims. The governments want the land to be taken away from the feet of the Muslims and it has been taken away to a large extent. Today the morale of the Muslims has been shattered.” He said that the allegation of lack of leadership among Muslims is wrong.
