Jamia Millia Islamia, a New Delhi -based Jamia Millia Islamia, has achieved a major educational achievement. The Department of Educational Studies – DES has received a major research project of Rs 1.38 crore from the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR). This project is based on Empowering Tea Tribes of Assam Through Digital and Non-Digital Skill Development Programmes: A longitudinal study.

What is the purpose of research?

The purpose of this research project is to measure and empower the social and economic development of Tea Tribes working in the tea gardens of Assam through alternative opportunities for digital education, skill training and livelihood. This project is not only an academic study, but it is also an attempt to improve the life of the neglected and disadvantaged community.

This will benefit from the project

The main objective of this research is to empower the tea tribes of Assam through digital and non-digital skill development programs. The scope of research will be widespread and many social aspects such as access to digital literacy, its effects will be measured. Apart from this, from vocational training to livelihood opportunities will be provided. At the same time, employment prospects for women and youth will also be searched.

Major aspects of research

In this study, both qualitative and quantitative data will be used, so that the result is strong at both practical and policy levels. Apart from this, their real needs will be understood through direct dialogue, field visits, interviews, and focus group discussions. Also, the report will be prepared on the basis of the data collected, which can prove to be helpful in the policy making of the state and central government.

Jamia Milia Islamia Vice Chancellor Professor Mazhar Asif said that this project is not just an effort to empower tea tribes, but it shows Jamia’s commitment to Northeast India. We want society to benefit from academic study. At the same time, Registrar Professor Mahatab Alam Rizvi said that this research keeps the needs of an unseen and neglected community at the center.

The pace of development of the country’s well-known university Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is going to intensify now. Jamia Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Mohammad Mahatab Alam Rizvi met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In this important meeting, there was a detailed discussion about the future plans and new changes of the university.

The biggest thing in this meeting was that there was a strong discussion about opening a medical college in Jamia and starting new departments. Big achievement in dental faculty

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar said that the dental faculty of Jamia has recently achieved a big achievement by launching the post graduation program. For this, the two officials thanked the two officials for the financial assistance received by the Ministry of Education. He said that the cooperation and encouragement of the Education Minister has been very important in furthering dental education.

Jamia’s coaching academy performance

During the meeting, there was also a discussion of Jamia’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA). Vice Chancellor and Registrar said that every year more than 30 students achieve success in UPSC Civil Services Examination. This is the result of the education of Jamia and the hard work of the students.

Funding and development projects also discussed

Jamia officials also discussed the financial situation of the university with the Education Minister. A report on the status of the ongoing development projects under the Higher Education Financing Agency (HeFA) was also reported. However, concern was also expressed over the slow pace of these projects and the minister was appealed to cooperate in it.

Apart from this, proposals were also made regarding the establishment of new departments in Jamia. The Education Minister listened to all the proposals carefully and assured help in every necessary initiative.

Convocation also discussed

In the last part of the meeting, talks were also held on the convocation of Jamia. Which great sentiments can be invited as the chief guest in this, it was also considered. The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar also sought advice and support from the minister in this regard.
