The country’s prestigious central university, Jamia Millia Islamia, has made a big opportunity available for the youth. The University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) has started the admission process for 42 short-term skill based courses this year. These courses are specially designed for students, job seekers and working people who want to build a strong skill-set in their career. Jamia says that these programs focus on increasing the employability of the youth, encouraging entrepreneurship and providing practical information, so that they can acquire accurate expertise in a field in a short time.

These courses include many skills including digital marketing, data science, Python, AI-ML, cyber security, graphic designing, fashion designing, beautician training, bakery, computer hardware, mobile repairing, drone technology, SAP, AutoCAD. According to the notification issued by the university, candidates can apply till the last date 30th November. Candidates can register directly by scanning the QR code given in the notification or through the given link. All courses are likely to start from January 2026, so that candidates can get a chance to start the new year with a new skill.

These courses offered under Jamia CIE are available in two modes. Which includes online and offline. Their duration is from 3 months to 6 months and the fees have also been kept very affordable, so that more and more youth can take advantage of it. Al-Falah University of Faridabad has become a topic of discussion across the country today. The reason is that the name of this university came up in the investigation related to the recent blast in Delhi. But at the center of this discussion is Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, Chancellor and Founder of Al-Falah University, whose life seems no less than a film story. Once a Jamia lecturer, then a businessman, and now once again in the headlines, but for the wrong reasons.

According to media reports, 61 year old Javed Ahmed Siddiqui was born on 15 November 1964 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He did B.Tech in Industrial and Product Design from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. After completing his studies, his family moved to Delhi, where he started working as a mechanical engineering lecturer at Jamia Millia Islamia in 1993. But Javed’s dreams were bigger than a college job. He started some businesses along with his brother Saud, one of which was Al-Falah Investments Limited. This company later became a dark shadow on his career.

Jamia to jail journey

While teaching at Jamia, Javed convinced many colleagues to invest in his business. He promised them huge profits, but things soon got complicated. In the year 2000, investors made allegations of fraud and embezzlement. Police investigation revealed that the signatures of the investors were fake and many companies turned out to be fictitious. The allegation was that Javed and his brother transferred investors’ money to their accounts and then misappropriated it. Both the brothers were arrested and had to stay in Tihar jail for three years. Then in 2005, he was acquitted by the Patiala Court, but on the condition that he would return the money to all the investors.

Foundation of Al-Falah University

After coming out of jail, Javed chose a new path. He founded Al-Falah University which means “Success and Prosperity”. When Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences started in 2019, it became an emerging medical institute of Haryana. The crowd of students on the campus, the team of doctors and modern facilities soon gained it recognition.

The country’s Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said in a program organized at Jamia Millia Islamia University that India is a country which no one can destabilize. He said, ‘There were movements and coups in our neighbors Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. ‘If Hindus and Muslims move together, the country will progress further’
Rijiju said that there are six recognized minority communities in India, of which Muslims have the largest population. He told that the number of Parsi community is decreasing, hence the government started ‘Jio Parsi’ program so that this community does not disappear. He said, ‘It is the responsibility of the government to think about small communities also.’ The Union Minister said that Hindus and Muslims are two big communities in India, and if both the communities come together for the development of the country, then all other communities will also move forward in this journey. He said that Jamia University has always been giving the message of positive thinking and unity and no negative message has ever gone from here.

India will become a developed nation by 2047- Rijiju
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India 2047’, Rijiju said, ‘India is growing at the rate of 7% today while the world is growing at an average pace of 2%. The way the country is progressing, we are confident that India will become a developed nation by 2047.

Regret of not learning Urdu language – Union Minister
At the end of his speech, Rijiju said that he now realizes that not learning Urdu was a shortcoming. He said, ‘If I had learned Urdu, I would have been writing poetry among you today. There is no other language in the world as beautiful as Urdu. Recalling the historical legacy of Jamia, he said that ‘the foundation of Jamia University was laid due to great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore, Sarojini Naidu and Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar. Jamia will always have a special place in my heart.

Delhi High Court has rejected the decision of Jamia Millia Islamia University, in which the university administration had ordered the dissolution of Jamia Teachers Association in 2022. The court called it a violation of the fundamental rights of teachers and said that no person or institution should go against the rights of the Constitution.

The actual matter was that the Jamia administration had dissolved the Teachers Association by issuing two orders, the office of the Association was sealed and the officials were barred from using the office or funds. After this, the Teachers Association had approached the court, in which today they have got a big relief.

Justice Sachin Dutta canceled both the orders while hearing. He said that Article 19(1)(c) of the Constitution gives every citizen the right to form and continue any association or organization. The court said that this right is not limited to just forming an organization but also gives it the freedom to run it with its own elected members and rules.
Justice Dutta also said that if there is a dispute or problem in an organization, it should be resolved through the democratic process and not by directly dissolving it.

The Jamia administration had said in its argument that under the Jamia Millia Islamia Act, they have the right to regulate or dissolve the association, but the court rejected this argument and said that no institution can be above the Constitution.

Aligarh to Delhi journey

In 1925, Jamia came from Aligarh to Karol Bagh in Delhi. There was small space and less resources. The ranking of three major university in Delhi was the center of everyone’s attention in the ranking university category. Jamia Milia Islamia University has made a big change in its examination rules. Now students will be required to pass the internal examination before appearing in the end-semester examination. That is, if the students are not passed in the internal exam, then they will not get permission to appear in the final examination.

This decision has been taken by the Executive Council of Jamia and will be implemented from the academic session of 2025-26. This new decision of the council has directly affected the preparation of thousands of students and the methods of studies.

Jamia has decided to adopt a 40 -year -old undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses from now on. Under this, students will be required to score at least 40% marks in internal assessment and also a minimum of 40% marks in final examination. It is mandatory to pass in both.

• Earlier the university had different rules for different courses. The 40:60 formula was in force in science courses. There was a ratio of 25:75 in subjects like humanities and social sciences.
• But now this difference will be over and uniform rules will apply in all courses.

Who will get discounts?

However, not all courses will come under the purview of this new rule. The Jamia administration has made it clear that such courses, which come under regulatory bodies like AICTE, COA, DCI, NCTE and BCI, will be exempted from this new assessment model.

Theory exam time reduced

With this change, Jamia has also reduced the duration of the theory examination. Till now the theory examination used to be three hours, but now it has been reduced to two hours. The university says that this will make the examination process more effective and timely.

Different rules for lab based courses

According to the notification issued by Jamia, the 50:50 evaluation model will continue in lab based courses. However, students will have to score a minimum of 40-40 percent marks in both theory and practical to pass here.
