Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani has expressed deep concern over the recent statement of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said that such statements not only openly promote violence and hatred, but they are also a direct attack on the democratic and constitutional structure of India.

Maulana Madani said that intimidating a particular community, threatening to take away its voting rights and encouraging economic exploitation against it reflects open fascism and a mentality of collective punishment. He made it clear that such thinking is completely unacceptable in any civilized, democratic and constitutional system.

FIR should be registered immediately on inflammatory statements: Madani

He stressed that ignoring these statements as mere political rhetoric or election strategy would be tantamount to compromising the basic principles of democracy. Maulana Madani demanded that an FIR should be registered immediately on such inflammatory and divisive statements and a clear message should be given that neither any person in India is above the law nor any position gives the right to spread hatred.

This is misuse of state power: Maulana Madani

Maulana Madani said that if the Chief Minister of any state himself admits that he is using the administrative and government machinery as a weapon against any community. Inciting people to file false complaints, raising baseless objections and systematic harassment is a gross abuse of state power. He said that such statements are an attempt to openly legitimize violence against a community, raising serious questions on the fairness and credibility of the entire democratic structure.

National issue related to democratic health: Madani

He clarified that Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind does not consider this matter as a matter limited to any one state, but considers it a very serious national issue related to the democratic health of the country. If today freedom is given to target a community in one state, then tomorrow the same attitude can be adopted against any other community.

Maulana Madani appealed to all the constitutional institutions, especially the Election Commission, Judiciary and civil society, to discharge their constitutional responsibilities instead of remaining silent spectators, so that those doing politics of hatred, division and fear can be stopped in time and democracy can be protected.

Maulana Arshad Madani, while explaining the meaning of Vande Mataram, said that it is against the religious faith of any Muslim, hence no one can be forced to sing any slogan or song against his faith. He said that the Constitution of India gives religious freedom (Article 25) and freedom of expression (Article 19) to every citizen.

Arshad Madani said, ‘Loving the country is one thing, worshiping it is a different thing. Muslims…’ He said that no one can be forced to sing slogans or songs against his faith.

Participating in a special discussion in Parliament on Vande Mataram, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that independence came to India because we did not make the country and religion one. He said that the government should not force it, if it does so then it will be against the Constitution.

Owaisi said that those who did not take part in the War of Independence, today are talking about love for the country. He said that if patriotism is to be shown then poverty should be ended. Taking aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he asked whether they want to make Vande Mataram a test of loyalty. On the issue of singing or chanting Vande Mataram, he said, ‘We do not worship our mother, we do not even worship the Quran and there is no God except Allah in Islam.’

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Arshad Madani said that sectarian forces are afraid of Islam and spread false propaganda to defame it. He said that it is wrong to link Islam with terrorism, because Islam gives the message of peace, love and humanity.

Arshad Madani said that all humans are children of Adam and religion came later. He said that those who are creating an atmosphere against Islam, neither understand history nor love the country. Madani said that it is wrong to follow the path of those who spread hatred in the name of religion and such thinking is harmful for the country.

Madani said that those who use power to spread hatred should understand that power never remains permanent with anyone, governments keep coming and going. He said, Islam has been alive for 1400 years and Inshallah will remain alive till Doomsday.

Referring to history, Maulana Qari Abrar Jamal said, “Even during the India-Pakistan partition in 1947, the Hindu society had told the Muslims that this is your country, we will protect you. In such a situation, talking about jihad against Hindus is meaningless and wrong. Such statements spoil the atmosphere of the country and it is also not good for the progress of India.”

On the issue of infiltrators, Farooqui said that Muslims are being targeted again and again. He said that when the same issue was raised in Assam, it was proved in the court that the truth behind the figures was something else. This is just a political stunt. Farooqui said that elections in Bihar should not be held on caste and religion, but on issues like development, employment and education.

On the recent statements of Asaduddin Owaisi, he said that he is the leader of a political party, we are not associated with any party, hence will not comment on his words, but will definitely say that why can’t the son of a Muslim become the Chief Minister or Prime Minister in this country? If the population of Muslims in the country is 15 percent then they should also get their 15 percent rights. If this right is not given then questions are bound to arise.
